DQE - Design, Quality, Emotion

Of course, with the 1357/1358 patch, the sandbox got kinda bugged and only worked again after i deleted all platforms and models i made in the 1353 version. So i’ll have to start again which i do with this, the new Sparrow!

Also, the most important car for my company, the Mantis, has gotten a new design already!

The HP versions of both these cars will be posted in the Speed Academy thread

Greets,
Tom

Alright, i decided to build a car for all the 12- or 13-year-olds on this forum. I call it the Carancho.

With a lime green carbon fibre body, an aggressive bodykit, a big wing, 4 exhausts and wide arches, it’s perfect for a kid’s bedroom wall.
Under the bonnet sits a ricer’s idea of heaven: a 2.0L turbocharged I4 with 500hp.

Comfort is obviously not a priority for a car like this, and even though it’s RWD only, the numbers it makes are pretty impressive. It does the Ring in 474.73 seconds. According to Killrob, times in this game are about 10% slower than they would be in real life, which means that the Carancho would do the Ring in 7:07, faster than a Corvette ZR1 or Nissan GT-R. Even so, the Carancho would cost around 80.000-85.000€, making it cheaper than both of them.

Greets,
Tom

When did he say that and for what track does that apply? The “quality” of the simulation depends mostly on the track definition and a bit on the constant speed through corners (not accelerating out of corners). 10% really is a lot. The Green Hell acutally is somewhat calibrated to the real life times by giving 10% more grip in corners. This specific track might still be slightly too slow, but more in the 1-3% area. The Airfield Track was even a bit too fast (according to closed beta testing) and we tried to offset that with the penalisation for undriveable cars.

Killrob Edit: Yes, that was said in regards to the green hell track a while back

Hey everyone, today i present you something a bit less crazy than the Carancho. It’s the new Eagle. We start with the Coupe:

And here’s the Saloon:

The saloon features an extra thin grille on the front because for some reason, the same fixtures as on the coupe didn’t result in the same amount of cooling power.

As always, the coupe rivals the BMW 4series and the saloon competes with the 3series. The HP versions will be posted in the Speed Academy thread tomorrow

Today i’d like to show you guys the new design for the Puma. It is a competitor for the Subaru WRX. If you find any similarities on the front end (well, compared to an older generation WRX/Impreza), they are intended.

The new WRX uses a turbocharged 2.0L flat 4 with 268hp. The Puma uses a 2.0L turbocharged I4 to keep things fair, and it makes 275hp. However, the WRX takes 5.5 seconds from 0-100km/h whereas the Puma will do it in 4.2 seconds. The Puma is probably lighter, and most likely more economical as well.

Like the WRX, the Puma comes with 5 seats and AWD. Considering it has a 7-speed double-clutch gearbox, i think 32.000€ is a fair price. Especially when you remember that it does 0-100km/h just as fast as a 70.000€ Corvette C7.

Unfortunately, today the monitor of my PC stopped working. I’ll still be on the forums with my laptop but i won’t be posting new designs for the next couple of days (until i get a new monitor) because the laptop is 5 years old and very slow, it even takes 5 minutes or more to just open Automation. I tried working on a new design on the laptop but first i had to patch for more than an hour because it was still in version 1113, that’s when i last patched it because after i got the PC i used exclusively the PC for Automation. And trying to design a car with this laptop is painful. Not only due to its sluggishness, also because it only features a clumsy touchpad rather than a mouse, which is very bad for designing a car.

I hope you guys can understand if i’m not as active in this thread as usual.

Greets,
Tom

I said designing a car on this laptop is painful, and it is. But sometimes, overcoming this pain leads to big pleasure.

Previously, if you wanted something sporty, everyday usable, fast and luxurious with 4 doors but not from Germany, you had to choose between the Jaguar XJ and the Maserati Quattroporte.
But now, DQE offers you a viable alternative! It’s the new Tiger! (And it doesn’t count as German because DQE is located in Austria)

The standard version comes with a 3.5l turbocharged I6, making 400hp. This makes for some pretty good numbers:

Wanna know another good number? The price. The entry level Quattroporte is 107.700€ here in Austria. The 3.5L Tiger will cost you 99.500€, making it 8.200€ less expensive and that’s enough money to buy fuel for about 75.000km of driving (with current prices around 1.30€/l here in Austria), thanks to the pretty acceptable fuel economy.

Greets,
Tom

Today i got an idea of inventing a new type of car. Have you ever been to your local car dealer and thought “uhmm, i don’t know… should i take the hatchback or the estate?”
Happily, DQE offers you both in one car, the 3-door compact estate called Flea!

Once you’ve gotten over the unusual back-end styling, you’ll find that this reasonably priced model is perfect for everyday living. With AWD and a choice of either a 1.3L or a 1.5L I4T, both of which will only use 3.6l/100km, it’s the ideal daily driver. There’s plenty of space on the inside, too. And if you’re in a hurry, the 1.5 will get you from 0-100km/h in 9.2 seconds which is about as fast as your neighbour’s E36 BMW 320i, but your insurance is lower and you’ll have to refuel once in the same time that he will refuel 3 times.
All that for a price of just 15.000€ (1.3L) or 16.500€ (1.5L) sounds too good to be true, but it isn’t. Check your local DQE dealer for more infos

Great car! I do really like the fusion of hatch and estate. It does look crazy. and this keeps the car cool.

Mach weiter so!

Thanks

Here’s something special. I’m actually a big BMW fan in real life, and i know back in the late 80s, the E30 M3 rocked the world. But since there are many great replicas of that car already on the forums, i decided not to make another one. I know, back then there was no 1series. But what if there was?

I also built an engine for it. But since everyone knows this is a remoldel of a non-existent car in 2014, i decided to give it a modern engine as well. It’s a 3.0L I6T with 326hp which is totally by accident the same amout of power you get from the M235i, my favourite BMW currently produced  Here’s the stats:

I’m pretty surprised about the fuel usage, i thought it would be higher.
Anyway i hope you like it

Greets,
Tom

PS: I wasn’t sure whether i should post this here or in the Car Replica thread, although technically it’s not a replica because there was no such car in real life…

Back to Modern-day cars! I’m very excited to show all of you the new design for the Grizzly! There’s only one Grizzly now, and that will be the one formerly known as Grizzly XL, so it has a long wheelbase and a big V8. Why is this the only Grizzly? Because the smaller ones didn’t sell very well. You see, the rich people who buy this car always want the top-end version and obviously there’s no cheap Grizzly for average people.

This car features an 8.5L NA V8 (cause a TT version wouldn’t fit) and it makes 700hp and 890Nm of torque. Coupled with AWD and an 8-speed double-clutch gearbox, it is capable of doing 0-100km/h in 3.1 seconds despite weighing 2 tons. Also, it’ll reach 365km/h. Sorry Bentley. This is now the fastest 4 door saloon currently in production. EDIT: It isn’t. I don’t know how i could forget that the Eagle HP saloon will do 378km/h.

The price for all this luxury and speed? 250.000€, which is pretty adequate for a rival of the Bentley Continental, i would say. Moreover, i think 13l/100km isn’t that bad for a 2 ton car with an 8.5L engine. What do you guys think?

Greets,
Tom

One word. Headlights.

i’m glad you like it

700hp from a V8 in a 4 door saloon sheeeeeesh. This car could do the world a favour and blow away those disgusting Porsche Cayennes favoured by soccer mums and rich guys who want a Porsche but married a soccer mum.

You’ve done some real trickery there to get things as well balanced as they are. And I agree with pleb, awesome job on the headlights, it lends a sporting aggression to the look without disrupting the contours and line.

Thanks Strop! The Grizzly is actually aimed towards the Bentley Continental, thus the long wheelbase. And i honestly don’t know how i get such high g-forces and sportiness rating, the suspension is nowhere near its sharpest but it had to be stiffened a little bit to prevent the car from rolling too much.

Has someone called the doctor? If yes, he will be arriving much sooner today because he will be driving the special edition AdVance from DQE. Traditionally, Ambulance cars are white with a red cross (at least in Austria). On this car, it’s the other way round because this is by no means a traditional Ambulance car. (and also because there’s no red headlights to make a red cross so far)

What’s so untraditional about this car? Well, obviously the looks, but also the engine. Who else has a 6.2L V8 with 514hp in their ambulance car? That, along with an 8-speed double-clutch gearbox and AWD makes this car incredibly fast and it will even reach speeds in excess of 300km/h, but of course safety is the number one priority.

This is just the car when it’s standing still. When it’s actually moving with all the lights on is what you will be able to see in Nyancatx3’s awesome new thread which is all about emergency vehicles

Tom

Hey everyone! As we are getting close to 100 posts in this thread, i present you the new Eagle! The coupe is up first:

And here’s the saloon:

The reason i decided to redesign the Eagle was this: I know the Eagle is going to be one of the best selling cars in my company because of the class it competes in (BMW 3 and 4 series, Audi A4, Mercedes C class,…). However, up to this point, the Eagle was always a bit of a toad, not really the prettiest car to look at. So i thought: why shouldn’t everyone get the chance to drive a good-looking car?

EDIT: I can’t give you the HP versions yet. Their design is done but i don’t have the engine here on the laptop, it’s on the PC which i can’t use at the moment

Tom

Hey guys and girls, today i’m going to present you a car that comes in 4 different variants, 2 of which will be posted in the Speed Academy thread. It’s the Fly!
Normally, the Fly is an affordable everyday hatchback with RWD and good fuel economy:

The basic engine is a 1.5L I4T which makes for some pretty average numbers, other than very low fuel consumption. The same goes for the 2.0L I4T, the other option on the normal Fly.

Then, there’s the HP version which i’m going to post here in this thread even though it it a bit more powerful and faster than the Flea HP in the SA thread. The reason for that is that the HP version is nowhere near the fastest version of the Fly, and because this is my Golf GTI rival and i consider the Golf GTI a pretty normal car.

The 1.5L Fly’s price starts at 16.500€, the 2.0 costs 17.500€ and the HP will cost you 22.000€. All of them are less expensive and more economical than a Golf with comparable power.
Don’t forget to check out the Speed Academy thread, i will upload the other two versions of the Fly there in the next couple of minutes!

Greets,
Tom

In the 100th post of this thread i’m not going present another car. I’d like to thank all of you who have taken their time to check my designs out and left me some feedback. There aren’t honestly too many peolpe who give me feedback on my designs, and for me that means i’m going to put even more effort into my designs and hope for more people to respond. The worst thing for me is not getting any feedback because that tells me i’m average; not bad but not great either. So i’m gonna try and improve the quality of my designs to attract more people and thus gain more feedback.
I don’t want everyone to praise my designs, i don’t want everyone to react exlculsively in a good way. Tell me whatever you think about them as long as it’s not a destructive hate message. I’m fine with people saying “I don’t like this or that, you should try and improve it by doing X”.

That being said, also check out the first post of this thread! I added some more general info about the company

Tom
