Ooohhhhhh guys sorry its a mistake, it should be without markup… well in that case 1% is the best option.
I took it to mean $22K in the market tab where you could do the markup, not that there was a markup. So I too have a 0% markup.
yeah this is where a build cost is more relevant, And I noticed that my price stats could change after loading up a different vehicle and then coming back the the MPV. So I took it with a grain of salt still well within achievable limits but this was the hardest round for me so far.
What do you say @JohnWaldock @Darkshine5, it’s my mistake, should we change to no markup and let people who are affected resubmit? If it’s not too much work I would be very pleased with that Sorry again
I would say so long as its with 22000-23000 let it go if your car is heavily affected I would say re-do… But thats up to the racemaster and Airjordan lol. palming it away
i think if it’s that with 0% you’re good, although net winner PLEASE SPECIFY A MARKUP
So I was forced to ditch my funky retro FWD french croissant on account of incurable slowness. I went instead with a V8 burger a la americana.
It is dubbed UBV - The Unsuspecting Black Van and it is black.
ok so John is the racemaster you need to pm him all the info is on the top two pages. Welcome to the DRC

DRC ROUND 6
IT’S TIME TO RUN FOR YOUR FAMILY!!!
yes it’s a new round of drag racing once again, and this time we have…erm…people carriers?
surprisingly enough, 7 manufacturers took up this rather odd challenge and sent their competitors to Willowbank to duke it out for the coveted crown of fastest…people carrier.
just to refresh people on the RNG rules:
10=perfect run. time has .4 reduced from it
9=great run. time has .3 reduced from it
8=good run great reaction time. .2 reduced from it
7=good run nothing special .1 reduced from time
6 = average run. time remains standard
5 = average run missed a gear .1 added to time
4 = poor reaction time average run .2 added to time
3 = poor reaction and missed a gear .3 added to time
2 = poor reaction miss shifted every gear .4 added to time
1 = horrible reaction miss shifted and spun tyres .5 added to time
anyways, with that done, lets review the competition
Birch Turmoil @Detsikeulii
The first car to look at was the Turmoil from Birch Motors. the first thing we noted was the rather disconcerting choice of name for a family van. that had us worried as to what lied beneath.
Looks wise, one couldn’t help but compare it to a shopping trolley, due to the ridiculously small wheels on such a large body.
But aside from comical wheels, the looks were clean and modern. that was especially good considering it’s 25 year old body.
Digging deeper, the chassis looked promising, AHS Steel Monocoque with all Alu body panels and double wishbone front and rea…wait…HEH???..double wishbone front and…solid axle leaf rear. so that was looking good until the oxcart back axle, but still, good choice of materials to keep it modern and rather light at just under 1800 kg.
Opening the doors revealed a 7 seat standard interior, a 6 speed manual gearbox, and a basic ICE setup, not great, but not unexpected with this kind of car.
Lifting the hood gave a bit of a shock. a 5.3L, 32v, Crossplane V8. All alloy with performance components, no less.
The Dyno showed it had promise, with a nice gradual climb to it’s peak of 561bhp, and a very even torque curve, with it’s peak being 417ft-lb.
Something that was a little unusual, however, was the engine produced peak power at redline, so that left me thinking there may have been more to this unit given some tuning.
UBV @RaduST
Next up was the UBV. a mysterious name for a mysterious looking car.
this thing looked MEAN and imposing. big, flared arches, massive chrome grilles, and just pure bravado. niiiiiiiiiiiice.
the chassis was almost identical to the Turmoil, AHS Mono with Alu panels, but this time we had Double wishbone all round, and an 1801kg weight. still looking good.
inside, it was very disappointing. basic EVERYTHING (low quality, too). not good, but we did have a 6 speed DCT and an AWD system, so that was nice.
Lifting the lid, and it was ANOTHER all alloy, performance parted, 32v crossplane V8, but this time at 4 liters in displacement.
the Dyno showed that this thing loved to rev. with a redline of 8800rpm, it was a screamer.
power was a little lower than the Turmoil, but still nicely delivered, producing a smoothish curve and producing it’s peak of 478bhp at 8600rpm, and having another relatively even torque curve, with a peak of 346ft-lbs
more entries soon…
Wait. Were my car’s wheels actually THAT small? Crap, my brain probably switched off while I was sizing them. Oh well, can’t do anything about it now…
Also, solid axle because Chevy Van. I drew my inspiration from it.
OMG Aldnoah V2 @one85db
next up, we had the Aldnoah V2 from OMG.
for the looks, this car looked high. with that gigantic, shit-eating grin of a grill and tiny headlights, it looked derpier than a horse on amphetamines. but, i had this niggling feeling that it was all for a reason…
the chassis was, again, an AHS steel mono, but with Steel panels this time. a slightly unusual choice, but not a bad choice. suspension was double wishbone front and semi trailing rear. so pretty standard fare for that. this was also the first to come in over 2000kg, so it was a weighty beast.
inside, we were again disappointed with basic, basic, basic everything (although of better quality than the UBV). but the real suprise was the inclusion of a 5 speed automatic transmission hooked up to an AWD system. very peculiar given the challenge, but not for the everyday.
opening the bonnet clued me in on why just such a massive grille. another 32v, performance parted, all alloy, Crossplane V8. but, this time, it was of a HUGE 6.3 liter displacement and both cylinder banks were flanked by 2 turbos. this thing was insane.
on the dyno, that insane thing was moreso, with a redline of 7000rpm, it was a high revver for such a big turbo lump.
the turbos really kicked in at around 3000rpm, but it wasn’t a ridiculous jump in power, it was a small curve befor leveling off and going all the way up to 824bhp @6800rpm. torque was a bit more abrupt, jumping very quickly up to 700ft-lbs @3200rpm, before remaning pretty level all the way to the redline. this was a serious contender
Smooth Vacoom 12 @AirJordan
now onto something a little different, the Smooth Vacoom 12.
now, if the name was a little sucky (as was that pun), the looks were also the same. nothing really good, just 20 years out of date, unfortunately.
the chassis was anything but outdated though, with an aluminium monococque and aluminium panels, this was pretty sporty for a people mover, and with a double wishbone/multilink suspension setup, it was surprisingly performance oriented for the average boganmobile. it was also super lightweight at just 1633kg
inside, it was horrid. if it looked 20 years old, the interior looked at least 40. very poor quality and very basic, the ICE was basic, but of better quality and it had very basic driving aids too boot, but strangely, it had a good quality DCT 6 speed 'box and an AWD system. this led me to think that the engineers at Smooth had built something rather specific for this challenge.
opening the hood absolutely confirmed it. these nutjobs had somehow managed to cram a 6.2 liter V12 into this thing. not only that, it was direct Injection, ultimate fuel, performance intakes, and 5 valves per cylinder all at relatively high quality. although, i found it slightly odd that it had both a cast block and head, but i imagine that was to keep the costing within play, and i can’t fault them for their ambition.
on the dyno, we found this engine had a good high redline of 8500rpm, so another rev happy engine.
but what stood out was the ridiculously linear power delivery, almost a straight climb thoughout the rev range before plateauing between 7000 and 8000rpm, delivering it’s peak power of 640bhp @7700rpm. the torque band was not quite as smooth or linear, but still very nice, with a peak of 501ft-lbs coming @4800rpm.
last 3 later
@Detsikeulii they were 17’s on 600s. that was pretty diddy
DSD IJASB @Darkshine5
next up, from the thunda down unda themselves, the DSD It’s Just A Soccer Bus (IJASB for sakes of this writers time and (lack thereof) sanity)
and first is the looks, and it’s nice and subtle and it has a certai…oh, it’s behind this car?, well ok i’ll take a lo… HOLY CHRISTBALLS ITS HIDEOUS!!! its a bulbous mess of grilles, lights, and rims that go to full donk. it’s cool just for how ugly it is. (i will give the rear end is ok, but that front is unforgivable)
after a light smattering of heavy vomiting, i gathered enough composure to look at the chassis and, it wasn’t too bad. AHS Steel Monocoque and Aluminium panels along with a MacPherson Strut/Semi-Trailing arm suspension setup. so pretty normal for a car like this. again, it’s a porker that tips the scales at 2000kg.
inside, we find a nice standard interior, a basic ICE and a decent array of driving aids, and a nice 6 speed manual. rather disconcerting though, an open diff. this could be genius, or thinly disguised murder attempt…
under the hood, the engine told me that this is indeed a murder attempt, the mad bastards at DSD have rammed a 10.85 liter, 32v, all alloy Crossplane V8. with 2 turbos. i was quite worried.
again, some performance components have been bolted to the engine, but with a single point DI system, which for the rest of the setup, seems a little weird.
on the dyno, it revved to 6400rpm, pretty good all things considered for the size, but i was shocked to see the power and torque curves of this engine, despite having cylenders the size of houses, there is almost no turbo lag, and the power goes up pretty constantly until peaks out at 751bhp @5700rpm and stays put untill the redline, the torque jumps up a bit more at lower rpms, but it has a truly huge 895ft-lbs @3400rpm, but it drops off a lot towards the redline. it’s bonkers.
Boliq Conveyance Turbo @HighOctaneLove
now onto that all too familiar shade of Moldovan blue with the Boliq Conveyance Turbo
looks wise, i was quite drawn to this one. the retro body with the modern fixings that put me in mind of the VW Microbus concept from about 10 years back, but not quite as concept-y and more every day looking. so that’s a plus for me.
the chassis was, again AHS monocoque with alu panels, but the suspension was a little more old school, with a MacPherson/Solid Axel Coil setup. but it was light, coming in at 1668kg, so maybe the older suspension wasn’t so much of a drawback.
inside, we have 8 seats this time, but all of basic quality, and a basic ICE setup, but, oddly, Boliq put in all the driving aids you could want, and a 6 speed auto box feeding the rear wheels, so this was looking a little unorthodox.
poppin’ the hood, i was expecting another V8 like the rest of them, but no. we had a 2.5 liter I4 turbo this time and a pretty standard one at that, it may have been all alloy, but it had pretty standard components, and it ran on 91 fuel. so i wan’t expecting much
on the dyno, the initial fears were confirmed, with a redline of 7500rpm, it wasn’t a screaming monster, but no burbling slug either. the power figure, however was startling. 315bhp @6300rpm a pretty even powerband up until redline. the turbo had a pretty serious kick when it spooled up, but it did so before 3000rpm. the torque figures were very similar, wit 295ft-lbs @4600rpm. but, that figure did drop off sharply after 6000rpm
JHW Commisar @JohnWaldock
and lastly we have the big old lump that is the Commisar, by JHW
on the outside, it’s a rather bland affair that doesn’t give much to say about it, just a standard, inoffensive bus with a 20 year old body for lower markets.
the chassis was, again, an AHS Steel monocoque, but with partial aluminium panels this time. suspension was pretty modern, with a double wishbone/multilink setup. it was also very heavy, coming in at 2071kgs.
inside, i found out why. it had a premium interior with 7 seats, standard infotainment, and advanced safety features (the first one to include these). the gearbox was a 6 speed single clutch sequential, so nothing super fancy there. it almost seemed like JHW had just brought a vehicle from the showroom…
popping the bonnet, we find something odd. it’s a turbo 4 banger, but it’s a 4.1 liter one, so it’s friggin 'uge. the components were fairly ordinary. cast block, alu heads, MOHV 8v, and a single point Direct injection system running on premium petrol.
on the dyno, it was the lowest revver, redlining at just 5000rpm.
there was a little delay before the turbo spooled up, but they were spinning well before 2500rpm, and after that it went on to peak out at 251bhp @5000rpm. this is the second car to peak at the redline, although this time it was in order to stop the engine from nuking itself.
the torque peaked very early on, practically as soon as the turbos had kicked in, it was producing 316ft-lbs @2300rpm, and gradually tapering off until redline.
so those are the competitors, now on to qualifying runs!
JHW Commisar - 16.08 seconds (16.38 -.3)
DSD IJASB - 11.62 seconds (11.52 +.1)

Boliq Conveyance Turbo - 14.41 (14.81 -.4)
OMG Aldnoah V2 - 11.71 (11.61 +.1)
so, after that, the JHW, the Boliq, and the Birch are out, now onto the head to heads

Smooth Vacoom 12 wins, Congratulations to @AirJordan
Since this is second win in row, I would suggest that @JohnWaldock as new gamemaster write rules for the next round Btw good work keeping the concept of pictures+nice reviews!
