Drag Racing Challenge ROUND 13: 3 Cylinders Light Weight Sport Budget! Deadline 15/11/2016

i’m barley scraping the high 12’s.

20k is hard.

I’m sitting about the same time, 11:30s, but I haven’t tried I4 or I6 yet. This round is proving to be more challenging than the simple rules would have suggested at first.

That’s true. I though that we depend too mutch on power to make a fast car, so a challenge like this can make we understand better what else changes the time.

engine placement my friend…and under 6 gears

Sssshhhhhhhhhh

I haven’t started working on a car yet, but I have a feeling that I could be reasonable competitive simply by recycling the car from round ?, the one with the micro-car: RR, lightweight, could easily develop 400hp. However, if I do decide to enter this round I think I’ll try to do a FQ400 replica or something like that, just for the fun of it.

GODDAMN GEARING AGAIN!!!

I haven’t thought of that and it really might be worth checking out. However I do have a suspicion there could be a comfort problem…

Some small reliability changes and I’m golden.
Another difficult challenge!

Difficult? Oh yes! I was sitting a very long time on mine and it’s still not perfect… but everything I tried violated at least one of the scoring rules… so I guess the car will stay as it is and loose.

Completely messed up mine in gearing. Very difficult on this kind of cars. Was a lot easier for my ATC vehicles.

@CMT (wo?)man just use the edit button next time…you know… so there are no double posts

GUYS GUYS!!! Bad news! I have just submitted something… getting cocky much… spent quite some time getting those hundreDS (am I doing this right?) off my time.

Another suggestion to Challenge host - Race master combo and to other competitors… At one point (either at qually or at the end) there could be posted original times of each cars, so we can see what others did without dice rolls. and maybe a small award for the fastest original time if it does not win

I liked the ideia! It makes things a little more fair. Who have the fastest time could change/add 1 more rule, maybe…

New Rules!!! From this round onward I will ask the Racemaster to include the cars elapsed time (time run on track without penalties) in the Blogs for each vehicle. The vehicle that has the fastest time will be crowned the Breakout Champion. The Breakout Champion gets to pick the track for the next round.

More tracks are being worked on to add more variance and will be added at some stage in the future.

Answering the question nobody asked, CSM presents the Why. With its 276PS of power (pretty please with a cherry on top, never dyno this) and 977kg of weight, this car is ludicrous. Don’t worry about brakes - just hope 8.8:1 is enough to compression brake with.

As with our current competitors, we are proud of our technology used in the Why and have emblazened the rear bumper with several accomplishments.

Join celebrities such as Jerry Seinfeld and Dolph Lundgren in the appreciation of the Why!!!

We from GAMMA Industries are always proud of our designers! And after a lot of work (and fights between them and the engineers) we present you the SM250:

It is powered by our all new four banger with 2.5L and turbo/intercooler, generating a total of 276ps (approximately 280hp)!

Unfortunately we received a report from our japanese engineers that said: “We refuse to win! Our cars are too good to wast drag racing!”, so the SM250 isn’t the fastest, but, damn, this car is beautiful!!!

The ADM SVL-6 Turbo DP was a special variant of the SVL-6 optimized for drag racing. Its twin-turbo 3.6-liter V-6 engine, claimed to develop 276 bhp, also produced plenty of torque, but could still run on 95RON premium unleaded with no reliability issues whatsoever.

Other variants were produced with this engine family for a multitude of purposes, such as track racing, but this DP edition is meant for the quarter-mile.

That’s pretty as man.

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, let us introduce our latest car off the boat: Kummeli.

It’s a sporty coupé, boasting a 1.95L (yes, 1.95, because our marketing department couldn’t choose between 1.9 and 2 litre engine marketing strategy) turbocharged I6 boasting 276PS, which transfers its power to all wheels, but not equally. Yes, we are front wheel racists.

We also supply this car with 2.5L i6’s, but they boast as much as 400PS and cars making that much should be illegal. Nobody wants those, right?

RIGHT?

Anyway, back to this one. It has been designed to be comfortable, easy to drive, but yet sporty. It guzzles fuel a lot, because of the short gearing of this special limited-edition model. (Just checked, an Olds Delta 88 with a 5.7L V8 guzzled about the same as this in the city, when it was new. Not anymore though :stuck_out_tongue:)

Birch Motors - Our punchline storage is running dry.
