Ernstland Motoring History Challenge (ALT HISTORY, ROUND 1)

I’m sure this refers to the approximate price in the Markets section of the overview tab.

It’s the sum of engine and trim tech pool cost, so it could be split 50/50 between trim and engine (i.e., $4m for both) or 75/25 (i.e., $6m for trim and $2m for engine), for example.

Total cost should be Approximate Cost, found in the “Detail Stats” tab

Techpool costs are 8m for both Car and Engine, though that might be slightly OP, we’ll see.

These costs here, on the right of the Techpool menu

If our more sporty car ends up being comparatively cheap, should be aim to put in some more fancy stuff to get it closer to being a more expensive car, or advertise it as more of a ‘car that the average person can aspire to get at some point’?

Oh and also, do both tyres have to be exactly 100s, or is there some wiggle room, because making a rear-engine car with equal tyre sizes is proving to be quite difficult

There’s a baseline wiggle room of +/-5 (95 or 105), but if you can justify more that’d be allowed

Honestly, I’d put in more fancy stuff or increase quality. I really want to focus over the first few rounds on the divide between the rich and the poor in Ernstland, and how that changes following the next decade or so.

You say that you can accept 4 seaters for the peoples car entry if there is a good excuse…
Well, this is what happens when I put unscaled seat fixtures that are touching each other in the middle in my car at the place where they need to be if they are supposed to give any legroom, so I even have to scale them down to fit in the car. I guess I could make this a 4 seater, since I can’t really see how this car could fit three in the rear realistically with any kind of comfort?

Also, regarding the techpool, is “$5m for car and engine techpool” 5 on engine and 5 on car, or 5 being the sum of engine and car?

Unless we’ve been explicitly told otherwise, this value is the sum of engine and trim techpool costs, which much not exceed a combined value of $5m, but we are free to allocate this funding as we see fit. So you could, for example, invest $1.5m in engine techpool and use the remaining $3.5m for trim techpool.

I missed the word “total” for some reason

The next issue…I know rules delib is over, but seriously, engine position slider ban…why?
It won’t affect the cars unless you are planning Beam test drives, which I haven’t seen anything about, and this…is just not realistic. The engine is halfway into the passenger space, making interior building more or less impossible, yet you can fit another engine in front of it in the engine bay. Even if rules delib is over, I suggest a lift of that ban because I can’t see what it is good for…

You could advertise it as mid engined.

The weight distribution slider does the same job visually as the engine position (specifically, position Y) advanced trim setting, so there is no need to use the engine position sliders anyway.

And your build, in its current form, may well be front mid-engined visually… but mechanically, it’s only treated as such if the weight distribution slider is set fully rearward (or at least far enough to the rear, depending on the weight of the engine).

Yes. Exactly what I asked for. A $1300 price penalty to just get the engine in a slightly less unrealistic position, which wouldn’t even affect someone not interested in building an interior.

Yeah, that’s fine. The techpool cost is 5m each for Engine and Car. At least for round 1, it depends if it’s really op.

Yeah, that’s fair, I just didn’t want people to put the engines in silly places but I hadn’t considered this

Amended, also removed the Body Z slider restriction.

Like here, both of those values on the right are less than 5m.

Ah, how it was worded before made me think that it was 5m total, so max 2,5m each.

I feel like that may be better overall, but for Round 1 i’ll keep it 5m each just because i’ve changed the rules so much already, i don’t like making people second-guess their builds yk?

A cap of $5m each for engine and trim techpool in Market 1 sounds just about right, as does a maximum techpool cost of $8m each for engine and trim techpool in Market 2. After all, I had a hunch that a combined maximum techpool cost (engine + trim) of $5m and $8m in Markets 1 and 2, respectively, may not be enough.
