Hot Lap Challenge HLC round 7: wnb V8 SUPERCARS 15.11.2016, 12.00 (noon) CET

In breaking new… I done fucked up…Airjordans car is only a 2 door therefor I cannot allow its results (sorry dude).

SO airjordan must be DQ’d (again sorry dude) making @one85db the winner

no watch me get flamed for missing that in scrutineering[quote=“Darkshine5, post:2, topic:17704”]
ANY car body with a 3+ door variant

Well, I was about to say something else until I seen that last post. Um, wow! :astonished: That was unexpected!

@Darkshine5 I can’t fault you for missing something, the more complicated the rules are the harder it is to be accurate in scrutineering, this round must have been a nightmare. lol

I love seeing these results! Everyone has some really creative designs! I enjoyed the challenge of tuning for both long oval racing and twisty-turny tracks. Looks like I had too much “Ken Block” in my gearing setup haha

@UnderlovedGhost @one85db it is both triggering AND tragic, like when Milli Vanilli got the Grammy Award withdrawn

The first thing I thought of when darkshine corrected himself was that Steve Harvey Miss Universe mistake.

Thats bad, but nobody is perfect.

I am ok with my results, my car scored not too bad.

@Darkshine5

Thing is, looking at the pictures, a lot of cars seem to be 2 door coupes or 3 doors hatchbacks. 3+ doors basically means a minimum of 4 doors, right? @one85db sure looks like a 3 doors hatchback, and the Monte Carlos are all 2 door coupes, right?

The entry could be a 2 door or a hatch as long as it had a 3+ door variant.

The body that AirJordan used didn’t have a 3+ door variant.

the rule was any car with a 3 door variant. ie you can use a car with 2 doors so long as there was the option to use a 3 door or more version of that body.

And again sorry about the mistake, it was my bad and I take full responsibility

Oh, I get it now. It was too subtle for me.

So… You basically built a rally car with a supercar’s engine and drivetrain configuration (flat crank, rear drive and all) and won simply because the only one faster than you had too few doors. Your car looked far ahead of its time in a good way, particularly in 21st-century-Lambo lime green! Well done then… But what will the next round bring?

Yes, I won on a tecnicallity, I’m sorry my car fit in the rules and his didn’t. I had no intention of winning I spent more time fitting the grill to the headlights than I did actually tuning the car, I didn’t even use downforce.

As far as I’m concerned @Darkshine5 can make the rules for the next round.

No hard feelings man  it’s an honest mistake and also I completely misunderstood the 3 door variant rule so I submitted a wrong body and wouldn’t have time to make a new car even if you would noticed it before. At least it’s the fastest car here

So congrats to @one85db!

As I have some extra time now, I guessed it could be fine to do something for community that’s been giving a lot to me. So I vlunteered as a tribute…khm…racemaster. If you all agree that is of course.
I have some other propositions (now you thell me if it’s ok ->especially you Ds5):

  1. I only run pace cars, so no winning for me and there is no problem of me scrutineering your cars before making mine
  2. Send cars directly to me??? (@Darkshine5 you be the judge of that but I can manage it)
  3. Champions pick can choose any track as lot as he/she provides a valid in-forums link
  4. In blurbs, a can make a hint on how to improve your time with a design you chose.

EDIT: oh oh and my champions pick is… wait for it… @lordvader1 Ocean. So hideous I couldn’t take my eyes of :joy:
EDIT2: I’ll take a like as I agree

Thanks, @AirJordan. I was going to congratulate you for winning again right before darkshine corrected himself. I wish you had caught it and we could’ve had a fair race.

I have no problem with you becoming the race master. :+1:

If I have the time, I will probably join the HLC too this starting round. No problem with you as racemaster at all.

Holy crap, I wasn’t expecting a podium. I should have built a real Ford 351 to compete with @07CobaltGirl’s Chevy 350 to see who would get true bragging rights.

Congrats to @one85db and thanks to @Darkshine5 for keeping these challenges going.

I didn’t expect this big gap between me and @07CobaltGirl, since our diference in weight, but I do ooverlooked the suspension setup because of lack of time.

Congrats @one85db, nice win!
And I like the idea of having @AirJordan as racemaster.

My car was heavy. That is why I am one of the last

Pretty great competition! I liked seeing all of the cars, including THREE G bodies! OK, they were A bodies in 78-80 with similar looks, but this design and this year they are clearly G body cars. They looked fantastic! 5th overall place isn’t terrible, considering my engine was still OHV. The engine wasn’t a stock 350, but pretty close! Race intake and exhaust aside, the engine is almost a stock Chevrolet Small Block 350 bored 0.020 inches over for a final result of 5790cc, or 353 cubic inches and featuring a twin Rochester Quadrajet 750cfm carburetor setup. Of course, the chassis was modified to double-wishbones front/rear to fit the massive Eagle GT 255/40-R15 tires on all the corners!

@KLinardo yes! Ford vs Chevy wars!

@AirJordan I’m sorry about your DQ. I will say that engine is very impressive! My hat is certainly off to you for that one.

About the 3+ door rule. It disqualified a few potentially legitimate stock cars, but I needed a rule to eliminate the supercar/formula bodies. Since NASCAR stock cars are “technically” American street cars in race trim, this rule seemed to fit the spirit of stock car racing. Monte Carlo, Thunderbird, and Charger were all 2 door only production cars, but they do fit the bill of a mid-sized American production car. (Yes, Toyota wasn’t always allowed in NASCAR races!) I attempted to explain my rule with the notes afterwards, and was glad @Darkshine5 included them in the actual rules posting.

my bad I am not American and had to wiki the body frames and it says that the A body was used in the cutlass 76-87 or something.

I apologize I take pride in posting correct information so I will rectify the results.
New rules coming soon.[quote=“07CobaltGirl, post:408, topic:17704”]
Ford vs Chevy wars!

Ok so the next round is going to be a little bit different.

FORD vs CHEVY

Your company has been lucky enough to be invited to the relaunching of the DSD brand in Australia and New Zealand.
With DSD’s fortunes turning around after the infamous Irukandji incident, the aging CEO has decided rather than compete against the Automation world we would embrace the community. How better to do this than provide $50000 a chassis and the choice of two power plants to these manufacturers and let them battle between themselves.

The two engines available are the 2017 Ford ecoboost 2.3L or the Chevy LGX 3.6L, you will be provided an unassembled chassis to this you can build any type of vehicle providing it has at least 3 seats, a sports interior a basic infotainment system and an advanced safety setup. The $50000 budget is for the total estimated retail at 0%.

I will post detailed rules and stats of the chassis as well as export files to the two engines at the top post when my game is working again…
