Hot Lap Challenge HLC round 7: wnb V8 SUPERCARS 15.11.2016, 12.00 (noon) CET

When I was in the USA lately I was surprised even Minivans are classified as trucks. Not only the giant Chevrolet Astros but also the legendary Town and Country, Caravan and Voyager that are very much car-like

you all have 3 more hours to send in entries I will be scrutinizing the drc first and then the hlc.

Didn’t have time to update my entry after the rule change (still at 100+ competitiveness in one market), so I’m curious to see how my car stacks up. Presenting the entry from G+C Engineering, the Top Goose!

That car actually looks good in lime green, even with taped up headlights to protect them from debris! And kudos to @Nomade0013 for also building a great-looking entry which also comes in green, albeit a darker one.

Here we have Gamma Alba, a real orgy of all world contributions, it uses a japanese platform, italian design, german suspension, an american engine and all that projected in Brazil. This car is powered by a modifed version of the Boss 302, generating 374hp of the small-block V8.

It may lack in power since it uses a OHV head, resulting in worst time in Daytona, but we hope for a compensating good time in Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, because of our lower weight.

(Just so you now, we already send our car in time to the Racemaster, but our advertising department was overloaded.)

Thanks, @abg7, there’s primary two colors in Gamma line, a dark red and this dark green.

I loved your car, @lysambrias, and wanted to know, how you have done the black tape on the headlights?

Thanks! The tape is black plastic from the Chrome and Plastic Stripes mod, rotated to cross the headlights diagonally.

Boss Motorsports has submitted the 1985 Interceptor - TrackPack for the HLC.

The Boss Interceptor platform was created in the late 1970s in response to the overall downsizing trend in American car building at the time. (A sedan variant was originally designed to compete in the first forum challenge that I took part in: http://discourse.automationgame.com/t/the-highway-patrol-challenge-reviews/5817.) The original package, intended for police use, was equipped with a 400 CI Boss-tuned and modified Ford V8 that produced just about 300 HP. It was picked up by a few police departments across the country for pursuit purposes. (Unfortunately, all company photos of the original competition-spec build seem to have been lost.)

This 1985 version, is a little (read: WAY MORE) track oriented than the 1978 counterpart, hence the TrackPack name. While she looks modest on the outside, this puppy brings over 500 horses to the competition thanks to a modified Ford 351 Cleveland 335 Series V8. When we got the engine (and after we had built the first prototype) it was an OHV motor. However our engineers suggested that we use the SOHC technology that made our 1969 Boss 432 a 500 HP monster to get the same kind of power out of a much smaller block. So instead of a 70s 2-valve pushrod engine design, you get a Boss Motorsports designed and built 3-valve SOHC engine to increase airflow, RPMs, and – of course – power!

While the TrackPack gets you all of the goodies under the hood, don’t expect too much on the inside. The car was designed with track days in mind, not daily driving. The interior appears next to the adjective use of the word spartan in the dictionary. We didn’t skimp on the running gear, though.You’ll be able to put the power down through wide 255 rear tires thanks to a high quality 4-speed manual transmission that was tuned to be at peak power at the fastest points of Daytona International Speedway. Furthermore, anticipating high speeds, this car is equipped with a fully-clad under tray to reduce drag. The car actually makes no lift at the front, and very little at the rear, with no wings or lips.

Come on down to the Farm in Blue Anchor to pick up your 1985 Boss Motorsports Interceptor - TrackPack, and you can stun those 80’s city-slickers with old-fashioned, blue collar speed!

OOC: This car isn’t my best work due to real life time constraints, but I’m curious to see how it does, and I couldn’t miss a rule set like this.

Yeah, I’ve lost. But until now I’m the only OHV. That should mean something… right? :worried:

Hi, @Darkshine5, I’m really excited to participate in the next round and wondered if there is a specific entry cutoff date-time like ā€œ30 SEP 2016 23:59:59 UTC+5ā€, or is it just sometime during the deadline day? (I know this game has players all over the globe so timezones can make a difference.)

I searched and didn’t find anything indicating what timezone the deadline was, so I got home late on the 30th and checked the thread, saw the message that there were just 3 more hours to send in entries, and the message board said that post had been made the prior day. I was too late even though where I was it was still the 30th :cry:

So, for this round DQ’d myself before entry due to my own procrastination by waiting till the last minute – I’m not complaining; I had this same problem in school :laughing: I figure I’ll just use this as a learning experience to get my entry in well before the deadline, but I wanted to ask so I can make sure I get things in on time next time :slight_smile:

Thanks for organizing this, I had a lot of fun designing for this challenge even if I didn’t actually participate!

Sorry :sweat_smile:
So I think we’ll have a nice battle at track!

ok so you bring up a good point. I am from Australia so my time here is Brisbane timezone +10 UTC if you have an entry made I would be happy to let you in late on this round as I have yet to do the races (I’m working long hrs atm).

I will put a small clause in the rule section that unless otherwise specified the timezone for entries is +10 UTC Brisbane

Edit: its bad when you dont have enough time to enter your own challenges lol

Nobody would notice if you smuggle in your car silently at the end of the competiton, I already had to do so once in ATC :smiley:

Ladies and gentlemen its time again for the HLC!

We have some unique entries this round and a full roster so without delay let me introduce the competitors. (results will be written in the following order Qld raceway, Laguna seca, Daytona oval

@RaduST Apulum Domina DSP

A good looking European saloon with 492hp, and capable of a top speed of 283km/h. Suspension tuning is on the dot and makes this one of the better handling cars entered into the challenge. Don’t let the unassuming yellow taxi take you by surprise this is a racer!

84.75, 100.91, 53.52

@Nomade0013 Gamma Alba

A 5l Flatplane 374hp British Racing Green 264km/h bruiser. Simplistic Elegance and British ingenuity make this a real looker no matter the simple use of fixtures. The Alba has very good braking almost too good but thanks to ABS the car remains controllable.

88.73, 105.41, 55.51

@one85db OMG Strater R2

Well the crazy feckers at OMG have decided that a rally car would be their best bet against saloon stock cars!? Not only that but the car is painted in uranium laced paint it literally glows in the dark! Another flatplane v8 this time producing 504hp and a top speed of 275km/h.

83.21, 99.53, 53.56

@lysambrias G+C Top Goose

Another central European entrant from new car makers G+C. Powered by a crossplane 369hp DAOHC v8 with a top speed of 253km/h, with well tuned aero and plenty of negative camber can the newcomer ruffle some feathers?

88.50, 105.64, 57.35

@cyclopticgoat Cygi Fascar

Well now what have we here? A vehicle inspired by Datsun. 480hp flatplane v8 equals a top speed of 259km/h. The suspension is spot on however wheelspin has been overlooked somewhat and at low speeds this is a smoke machine.

86.03, 103.24, 56.21

@07CobaltGirl La Monte SS

There’s no mistaking an A body GM what stock car race would be complete without at least one.
A proper SBC 398hp OHV 5.8L v8 propels the A body to 268km/h. The Champion has delivered another race winning vehicle, will it be enough?

86.14, 102.53, 54.71

@AirJordan Smooth Macaro R

The manufacturer that everyone wants to beat the DRC and HLC overall champion Smooth Motors has delivered another menacing entrant, that front end is pure business.
A 5799cc flatplane v8 churns out 515hp and a top speed of 289km/h.
We don’t know how they do it but yet again Smooth motors has delivered a car worthy of the podium.

82.31, 98.95, 52.25

@CMT Americana Stock Car

Another A body car from the runners of the ATC. This entrant has an all alloy DOHC crossplane v8 producing 492hp and propelling the Americana to a top speed of 278km/h. The use of an Automatic locking LSD may have held the vehicle back in the corners.

85.81, 102.95, 54.84

@HighOctaneLove Bogliq Belfast SCCA

Bogliq blue. Now we know that Bogliq are well their nutjobs and the Belfast is the perfect example of Bogliq ingenuity at its…well not at it’s best but not at its worst (does that make sense)
The Boqliq entry is FWD and the 4.2L v8 produces over 300hp so we are certain that at some stage torque steer may be an issue on the way to the top speed of 264km/h.

89.88, 107.76, 56.96

@KLinardo Intercepter Track Pack

Long live the might 351 Cleveland! While the Americans had the Windsor Australia continued development of the 351C well into the 80’s and it’s great to see the Yankee’s catching up :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
This A body has a 502hp version with a set of SOHC 3 valve heads and a top speed of 285km/h
making it another contender for a podium finish.

85.38, 103.06, 54.10

@lordvader1 Ocean

Another piece of German engineering this entry comes straight from DTM.
The crossplane v8 produces a total of 520hp and propels the Ocean to an Autobahn melting 298km/h. Unfortunately all that power is overpowering the rear differential an causing excessive wheel spin.

99.53, 107.50, 57.12

@MitsubishiFan

Hmm dare I say it…Carolla lol. All jokes aside this is a serious bit of gear. A DOHC 516hp v8 and a top speed of 282km/h make this no joke. A well setup aero system may just be what this entry needs with again alot of excessive wheelspin under 100km/h.

And with that the results are in.

. @lordvader1 88.05

. @HighOctaneLove 84.86

. @lysambrias 83.83

. @Nomade0013 83.21

. @MitsubishiFan 82.43

. @cyclopticgoat 81.82

. @CMT 81.20

. @07CobaltGirl 81.12

. @KLinardo 80.84 3rd

. @RaduST 79.72 2nd

. @one85db 78.76 1st

. @AirJordan 77.83 DQ only a 2 door body

Congrats everybody.

And in other news

AirJordan has volunteered to be the new Racemaster if there are any objections please let me know, if there are no objections in the next 36hrs he will be the official Racemaster.

AirJordan wins again.

Am I allowed to say that I’m triggered?

You’re not alone in the triggered zone.

I know he just won the DRC too. Well. I’m 99.9% sure.
