Hot Lap Challenge HLC round 7: wnb V8 SUPERCARS 15.11.2016, 12.00 (noon) CET

That’s one sharp looking car @07CobaltGirl. Looks bad ass. This scene came to my mind

No matter what I change, I still have competetiveness over 100 in multiple categories.

But now I set the design a little apart from the normal RT8 model, giving the racer a shortened chassis and a sleeker nose.
Are we allowed to use Premium Unleaded?

Fuel choice is limited to super unleaded only.

I suspect super unleaded (98RON) is available from 1985 onwards in the latest open beta, but not in the current stable release.

The HLC is made in open beta

Here is the Americana - CMTs car that was the technically most advanced midsize in the 70s.
In the mid-80s, the chassis was still more than just competetive, but design and trim were old-fashioned, so there was time for a makeover that was done for 1985. To the sedan body, a two-door was added to bring a sporty model in the range. The RT8 was fully loaded with every extras as leather seats, electric windows, aircondition, cruise control and much more. It had a 3,5L V8 (yeah, just) and a 4-speed automatic.

For promotion, CMT has transferred the RT8 into a race car in HLC. We shortened the rear end, modelled a sleeker and more aerodynamic nose and fitted an engine going with the HLC rules.

I cant update to open beta before deadline (I have no wifi atm), so maybe you could forgive me the use of 95-Octane-Fuel…

EDIT

arrrggghhh I just noticed that Aluminium is forbidden. The Americana was CMTs first mass-produced car with aluminium body as reaction of fuel crisis.
Why is there always something wrong with my cars? :frowning:

It also has a 5-speed.

@Nomade0013

I can’t believe I’m so stupid :expressionless:
I totally forgot, thanks @Fayeding_Spray

I finally made something challenge worthy out of this body! :v:

Your car looks ahead of its time with its lime green paint and early 21st century fixtures. It’s essentially a silhouette racer - which stock cars eventually became in the late 80s. But are hatchbacks allowed in this round? I am sure they are…

Same doubt, but I’m pretty sure there’s nothing against it.

Thanks, @abg7!

The rules only disallow vans and trucks, and the body must have a variant with 3 or more doors, therefore, nothing says you cannot use a hatchback or even an SUV if you so desire. I was not making a car to win, I just wanted to make use of this body. :stuck_out_tongue: I did read also (quote below) that they did not want the use of exotic bodies, but this is a rally style.

Edit: It is also 2.48m wheelbase, so it fits that requirement as well.

I have been a tad behind with this as real life work is killing me atm. I will scrutize the pms tonight.

Actually an SUV qualifies as a truck…Chevy Suburban…Ford Bronco…Jeep Wagoneer

I understand what you are saying, but not all SUVs were built on truck platforms and not all trucks were based on truck platforms. The Jeep Comanche, for instance, was built on an SUV platform, the Cherokee XJ, while the Volkswagen Caddy and Dodge Rampage were both built on coupe platforms.

And I get what you are saying, but 99% of SUVs are trucks or derivatives of trucks. Hem and haw all you like, but SUVs are trucks. The fact that almost nobody uses them as trucks anymore is irrelevant to this competition.

All right, found a solution to update to open beta. So I can make it 100% fitting tomorrow.
