Yes, that is supposed to become part of the stats that eventually will be added to the car museum. 
Late to the party; did this stat ever get introduced? I went looking for it today, did some Googling and ended up here.
Taking the idea further, it could be extended to cover the total sales of an entire company throughout its lifespan. And the total sales of each model could be divided based on the market(s) in which it was sold.
