Ok, so I was watching one automotive channel on tv, and they had a review of Mercedes Actros. It got me thinking. After the diesel dlc comes out, how hard would it be to do a truck mod?
If you think about it, there are a few big companies that do both cars and trucks - Mercedes, Renault, Volvo, VW (Man) and Kamaz.
Automation - the CARtycoon game. Adding trucks to the game isnt just simply adding truck models. Physics, handling and a lot of other values are completely different for trucks. Also, transmissions are different too. It would mean you have to completely redo a lot of things, which could easily take up to 2 years of development time. Therfore I dont think its a good idea.
So by that logic Ford, Saab, BMW, Volvo, VW, Mercedes, Suzuki and Renault were not car manufacturers, since they made something else besides cars. Listen, I am not demanding this to be implemented in the near future, or even ever, just saying that it would be a cool idea for a mod or a DLC.
I agree its a cool idea, just not doable for the devs at this point or any point up to 5 years, as there is enough car-related stuff that needs to be implemented, like earlier than 1945, wankels, diesels, electric cars and tons more. So great idea, but I rather have any car-related content than a whole new automotive branch.
I’m sure someone will attempt a mod for it, similar things have been discussed numerous times before.
I agree, I think would add more depth, but if it were to be in the game, I think it would work better if the Devs were to implement it as an expansion later, when there are no higher priority features being worked on, rather than leave it to a modder/modding team.
Trucks are not cars ronin it would add just a lot of work for developers and truck market is not as interesting as car market I say. Also the engine sizes on truck are lot bigger.
When have I ever said that trucks are cars?
Also, so that I don’t flood up the beta testing tread, how can people know you when you posted most of your posts today?
I don’t want to start a conflict with a fellow comrade, just don’t make a fool of yourself
Daffy did say last year that there would likely be only up to a small ute in game. As for the mod, what you would have to do is:
Raise ride height limit
Make a new body mesh (After looking through the body section of the individual bodies it is quite easy to change a couple of things. You can adjust the wheelbase, the maximum tire size, the front chassis section length, the rear chassis section length, and your morph limits. However, keep in mind, the existing body mesh would not fit any more.)
Difficult parts:
Towing ability determination
Hauling ability determination
Low range gearboxes (If not added)
Selectable 4WD/AWD (If not added)
Diesels
(I don’t really see a way for you to add a dually chassis.)
Perhaps even all new calculations/additions of new criteria/modification of the career ai to make them make these/modification of the game’s sales determinations to see how well it will sell/modification of the game’s approach to wings and lips on the truck bed/modification of the tires to make them not pop under the power and massive front weight bias/new driver assists (anti roll, trailer braking, anti sway control)/other truck specific options (sliding rear window, door step, stepside and the like)
Have fun with that! If you wanna do it, you will have my full support, as I would love to see it. Get ready for several months of work though. There is also not much reason to do it unless you are gonna go all the way.

All depends on how many people are working on it. One person could probably do that in a couple years, a team of 10 probably under a year.
True, but finding a team if people willing to work on it (probably for free) would be very tough.
Indeed. Thus why I think it is not viable.
What Jakgoe said. If they are good and capable enough of doing such thing, they either have a good job or they are working on their own project.
Thus, my claim for several years is correct.
Never mind my post. I thought OP was talking about half-tons and stuff, not lorries. Lorries in this game don’t make sense. The Volvo that makes cars and the Volvo that makes huge trucks aren’t even owned by the same company. All they share is a logo.
If the “some of you” group you are referring to includes you, that indeed is a true statement, as making over-generalized claims about other people’s desires is a rather ignorant thing to do.
Obviously, there is too little variety in the selection of bodies at the moment and there will be plenty of different styles and variants added to the game before it is considered complete. That includes light trucks and SUVs.

Thanks KillRob, couldn’t have said it any better myself.

Must… Not… Respond…
Anyways, am I right in saying that among the mid engine bodies that are coming in the next update, there will be others? Could we have an idea of which
