Does the street legal requirement in the racecars apply to engines as well? In other words, swapping the stock airflow parts for race ones with no cat and a straight piped exhaust is banned?
@TanksAreTryhards You are correct that currently there are no hard safety limits, as I wasnāt sure yet how the update would change things in this realm. I will implement something. Stay tuned.
@passengerpigeon You are correct, the race car still needs to be street legal with the few exceptions mentioned in the rules. That includes no race parts on engines and mandatory cats.
Small change-log: Iāve added the track file to the brief (see under the track image). It seems to work fine in the OB, so you can download it and play with your tuning! But keep in mind that rules are still in flux as I get more acquainted with the OB.
I also think, as some other people have mentioned, that the comfort requirement for racecars is too high. Because you are allowing pure alcohol fuel and donāt require the submission of a fully road legal homologation car, the vehicles are already not identical to those sold at dealerships, so stripped interiors like those seen in every real-life touring car series (to my knowledge) should be allowed. Maybe have a lower minimum comfort threshold like 5 points to prevent outright injury, but at the moment the racecar Iām working on has to have a Sport interior instead of the normal Standard one to make the minimum, and Iām not done tightening the suspension up yet. Smaller cars might even need to cheese the score with a Luxury or Hand Made interior to qualify.
Also, are the racecars taxed? Does using power steering (which is a good way of boosting comfort) worsen performance in the Automation test track mode in any other way apart from the slight weight increase?
To your first point, I totally get where youāre coming from. This is unlike any real life racing series. But this is also not real life, not even set in the ārealā world so to speak. Letara is completely separate from that, so you cannot draw parallels in that sense. There is a fairly good lore reason why the cars in this round have to be street legal (except those few allowed modifications) - if you read up on the thread and can read between the lines, you will know why. This racing rule includes that the cars need to have this level of comfort. I couldāve mandated sports or premium interior as a minimum, as GT cars have that usually (not standard) - but I didnāt. This leaves you more freedom to achieve the goal of 20. For what itās worth, I am running the 356 body with fibreglass panels (again for lore reasons) with a sports interior and hit 20 comfort without issues. So I donāt think itās by any means unattainable, even for small cars.
To your other questions: no race cars are not taxed (what you see in the statistics tab is what they cost). I donāt think power steering hampers track times aside from their weight. But your increased stats will likely outweigh any time loss due to weight in the RNG.
What are Letaran cultural attitudes towards manual transmissions? And a related question - what are driver education and licensing standards?
They range from high schoolers to old retired people, thereās no one person in this role play but a group of markets you could appeal to, to the best of your abilities.
does it need something to enter or able to enter with a brand new brand for LHC
@moroza Manuals are just fine - I basically take the game stats at face value. Driving school is mandatory before getting a license. This was further helped by some company spending and lobbying to expand driving schools. So in general, Letarans are decent drivers.
@ScintillaBeam You can enter the series at any point. Read the OP with the general LHC ruleset. Youāll have to DM me according to those rules (e.g. proper naming of the DM thread) and register your brand(s). You can do this concurrently with your first submission, or before.
Are there any highways with a speed limit of over 140kph and will the drivers of the paratransit vehicle be expected to go that fast? I just wanted to make sure a 140kph speed limiter in my submission wasnāt too restrictive.
There are actually autobahn-style highways in Letara with no speed limits at all, (thatās why thereās also a tax break for cars with a top speed below 160kmh)
Though yeah, I would like to know often these taxis will use these highways, however, and how fast theyād like to be doing on them was well.
The transports will mainly be used to supplement regular city public transport (busses, trams etc). They will sometimes be used to transport people outside or between cities, but that is not a major use case. Also, do you think that a public transport van carrying a bunch of wheelchair-bound passengers would blast down the autobahn at 200 km/h?
Clarkson would think it was a good idea, so probably?
Are more than one pair of tail, brake, or turnsignal lights allowed?
Yes, within reason of course. If you submit a literal Christmas tree then you will be called out on that.
So, is the deadline set/submissions open, then? I havenāt seen any activity, and I thought I heard you were still working on some kinks, so I donāt know whether I should be working on mine yet.
At present, ellisbury has some very big issues, so Iād imagine we are waiting on a patch or two.
I consider the rules to be final at this point as I donāt see a patch coming that would warrant a major change in the ruleset. So I would encourage everyone to start building. Visually you can finalize your car for sure.
The round is not open for submissions yet, however. I still anticipate at least one patch that will change (not necessarily break, but change) your carās stats and engineering. So to prevent any grievances I am opting to delay opening the round. But you can certainly start building and barring any major surprises, the rules are fixed.
YAMAGUCHI PRESENS THE SERA
Prototype for a special needs vehicle in Frunia-Export-Spec, final product can differ
This is the SERA model - spacious, economical, affordable, reliable. Offered by Letara Primus.
The latest and biggest patch for the open beta dropped today, which fixed some of the key issues still holding me back from opening this round. Iāve done some testing today, and I think all of my major concerns are addressed. So now the OB is in good enough shape to resume LHC!
Please see the round rules in this post. Note that Iāve made one more change to the rules (removed maximum toe rule for race cars). If you had already started making cars, please make sure you go over them again before submitting, as the patch(es) since the beginning of the OB have likely changed them in ways you might not like - or made them illegal.
Happy building and Iām looking forward to your submissions!
Since Iām heading into a bit of a busy time, the round will close:
Friday, December 15 at 10 PM EST
And since the very first submission is from a new LHC participant who neglected to read all rules in the OP and the round rules thread: please please please read the OP and adhere to the company registration, DM thread naming, car naming, and other participation requirements? I donāt want to have to spell it out for everyone separately. Thanks!
