So I noticed that when you have a choice of fuel trim it starts at 14.7:1 (Perfect combustion) but that number is way in the lean side.
My small suggestion is that you increase the range that the fuel trim can go and stick 14.7 exactly in the middle of the gauge where it belongs.
Possibly making the max 30:1 and the minimum 1:1. The reason is now a days with direct injection we can have cars go up to 18:1 AFR (Air Fuel Ratio) and I think there is even a car that goes to 21:1… So if in this game we want cars that are super fuel efficient we can achieve it and as for the rich side, If we just want a fuel sucking beast that would be pretty fun too.
30:1 will only work with Direct injection engines or diesels and 1:1 will not work with any kind of engine, maybe steam engines, even high boost diesels will only accept 3:1.
if you read carefuly , you can see that each type of fuel system has a cruise AFR written in theinfo section and DI engines have a cruise AFR way below 15:1.
The AFR means only the full load ratio, not the minimum that the engine will work with.
In previews versions you could see both numbers, a MPFI engine would show something like: “full AFR: 14.7:1, Cruise AFR 25:1” for exemple. I don’t know why they removed this, i liked to know how big was the difference between carbs/EFI types.
We removed it for two reasons: 1) the lean value wasn’t used in any calculations as it turned out and 2) it was mostly pretty unrealistic. The fuel consumption calculations still consider this to some degree though, of course, but it’s baked into the specific fuel system quality already.
