Hello.
I have some suggestions for making best the game:
- The “V” engines can use only a 1 turbo.
- The aluminum engines is in use since 1950, not 1970/1969.
- The mechanical injection is this:
(The mechanical pump is not always in the block, sometimes (for not say always) is ubicated like the image.
- Use one intercooler or two for twinturbos or single turbos.
- Can select dry sump (the gravity center is lower than a wet sump and is used in most supercars and is more expensive that wet sump) or wet sump (is used in cars that the gravity center don’t need more lower and is more cheap).
- Can move you the ubication of parts of the engine.
- The engine radiator and (optional in your engine design) an oil radiator.
- Select the angle of cylinders.
Is only a constructive criticism: with these points, the engine designer will be better.
P.S: I have a 3d engines and I have experience in real engines.

Good suggestions, but the ideas are really in-depth of engine design. Maybe one or two points are good enough to enter in this game, but Automation is a cartycoon game, not an engine simulator game.

Single turbos will be available eventually for V engines.

That has to do with the research system in game, you’ll be able to unlock them earlier, but you’ll have to invest research effort, just like the real companies did.

I don’t see how moving the pump to a different place in the engine bay would make any actual gameplay difference to how the engine was built. We’ve replicated one paticular style of injection pump.

Maybe eventually, depends how intercooler placement in the car designer ends up working.

That happens in the car designer, as the radiator size could be different depending on what car you’re putting the engine in.

That’s almost impossible to do from an art standpoint, as its difficult enough as it is getting all the different components to fit correctly on all the engine types.

Ok.
About the lubrication, is the carter. Exists two types of carter or sump: for example, the Ferrari’s have a dry sump carter, and the Mazda MX5/Roadster/Miata have a wet sump carter (in English, I think it says only dry sump system and wet sump system, without the word carter: in Spanish, is called “cárter seco y cárter húmedo”).
A photo of dry sump system explained (the system is of Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, but the operating principle is the same in all dry sump systems: the oil is in other tank, not in the carter, but needs an oil filter in the return to carter tube):
A photo of wet sump explained (this carter have a intercooler for oil, but is optional this: without this, will not have the radiator and the tube).
About the rest of points, ok, but the Intercooler is for this (to ubicate in the best zone of body to improve the aero and cooling):
The best intake is the Naca type.

You can do it by creating fixes part and moving others, scale system and rotating point system, etc…
I mean, the cylinder, conrod and the bank could move around the crankshaft, etc.
Anyway, this is a graphic enhancement, and should be done at the end of the game development.

I don’t think you realize how much work and tweaking it takes even to make everything work properly as it is. Yes it is physically possible, but it would be hellishly complex.
Daffy, there should be a post about dry sump somewhere and if i recall correctly, i had an answer that dry sump won’t make it into the game
