I know that there is a auto, manual with clutch, and the two types of sequential gearboxs in the game. But is there a chance that 2 speed CVTs will be seen in game. I did a quick search, but only read about what was really happening right now in the automotive industry. I do have to say a CVT would be a realistic and welcomed addition to the game. Every one says CVTs are going away, but if you look at Nissan they have pushed on CVT technology so hard that it has forced toyota and other companies to bring the CVT back into play for an entry level and even economy minded transmission. I say put them in the game and if the stigma of reliability is still an issue you put a slight reliability penalty for using it. Just a thought, but don’t put this in front of adding more turbo variants and finishing superchargers. Keep kicking butt guys, you rock.
i know this wont happen. but i kinda wish just a little bit, for it to be in the game.
Dog-Box Transmission, for pre-sequential transmission racing purposes.
you know, the transmission used by the GODZILLA to dominate everywhere
I’m actually rather excited for CVTs, honestly. I’m not saying they have to be a priority, but I could see them being a simple, lightweight, and useful choice for eco cars, small vehicles, and stuff that doesn’t make a ton of power. But again, I also understand it’s not a huge priority, either.
Guys, just click the link I posted. CVTs are planned and are being coded already.
I know, I was merely mentioning that I’m excited that we’ll get them eventually. Though I do thank you for the link to the thread, although I wish that a different color was used because I can’t tell the difference between the green and the yellow. Even at that, it gives a good glance at what we’ll have.

Name one factory, street legal, car with that kind of gearbox. If you are talking about the Skyline, the street cars used a standard ZF made syncro mesh gearbox.
IIRC the 190E cosworth also has a dogleg gearbox.
Still, IMHO, there isn’t much of a point adding it as a choice since it’s not much different to a manual with a standard shift pattern.
Dog leg refers to the position of first gear, dog box is a non syncro straight cut gear box with “dogs” that requires no cluch slam shifts to operate properly. It’s simple and relatively inexpensive way to get high torque through a lightweight transmission but they don’t do street driveing very well.
By very well read not at all.
And with straight cut gears, there is no way it would clear the noice level laws.
I’ve daily driven a truck with straight cut gears on first through third - If the thing had a working heater, I’d drive it more often.
Yeah, it’s a loud transmission, but Jesus Christ do I looove that sound.
