Multiple Companies

Will it be possible to buy out your opponents, or in turn be bought out by them? This could lead to interesting mechanics and much larger companies. The first example of what I was thinking is GM, can’t think of any others off the top of my head.

All of them! Think of any modern car company and it either owns one or more others or is owned by one or more others. There may be exceptions to this but I can’t think of any.

As for what you’re asking. I too am curious about this.

You are missing the Fiat group! It includes Ferrari, Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Chrysler and probably a few others.

There is also Peugeot-Citroen and Renault and Nissan which have some kind of alliance.

Yes, for example you forgot that Fiat Chrysler Automobiles owns also Maserati, Dodge, Iveco, CNH and other brands that I don’t remember now (also dead brands like Innocenti).

Mostly complete… It was just a quick list.

I read it but you know…

You can forget Iveco and CNH obviously but Maserati and Dodge… :open_mouth:

Lol Jakgoe, dont get offensed so easily man :stuck_out_tongue: King janic, use the search function. this has been discussed tons of times already.

I tried searching but didn’t find anything. Sorry for reposting then!

Wasn’t Hyundai bought out by Chevrolet a couple years ago?

I think you’re thinking of daewoo. The parent company sold it to GM in 2001.
In 2005 they rebranded the cars as Chevrolet in Europe and now they are withdrawing completely by 2017.
The remains of the daewoo car company is called Gm Korea

Your right, I am!

That list is missing many lol.

Under GM in the post war era

Oldsmobile
Pontiac

FORD
Edsel
Mercury

AMC and the brands merged into it

Then the other post war companies that were house hold names in the 40s and 50s

Kaiser
Fraiser
Tucker
Hudson
Henry J
Imperial was a model of a Chrysler branched off into separate brand
Willys
Continental
Was a model of Lincoln that branched off into separate brand
Studebaker
Packard
Nash
Rambler

Just some food for thought :geek:

As in other Tycoon games, can we choose the number of opponents? This is a game after all.

Yes, quite obvious, I would say.

If I were going to emulate any game for the tycoon side of the game i’d look at railroad tycoon 3 probably. it needn’t be as complex, and there’s a simple stock system, loan system, and the ability to buy out other companies and assets.

Having said that, are the devs looking at other tycoon games for inspiration for a model to base the tycoon system on? Which games are they looking at?

How much opponents will be available? 200 like in gearcity or 10-15 like in most games?

I think up to 8 AI players seems decent enough for me. its gonna be quite hard enough with 8. Imagine having 3 or 4 going for cars to be produced for the masses (multiple targetgroups and such) then 2 for somewhat less mass targetgroups and the rest going for niches. Would be hard enough for you to get your market share!

I would rather prefer loads of enemies at start, but after some time most of them would be boghout by other companies, like in real life.
