its simply a device for the car car once you fully make it cuts down service cost as fixing and problem finding are simpler cheaper and more effective for cars before 1996 it should be a option but after that it is a requirement for the cars to have but earlier then 1995 it cant be added to a car its just a simple addition that would add a bit of realisim and with a stat that helps a bit

I don’t think it makes much sense to add that. Service cost in the game means the cost for fixing or replacing various parts, not for searching for the failure. And adding a checkbox for OBD or OBD 2 (On-Board-Diagnosis, for those who cannot decipher the thread title), when it’s just a general requirement, is terrible for gameplay.
I am 99% sure that service cost is only the cost of the parts at the moment. Would labour cost (or labour time and skill required) be worth implementing into the game, or would it be so closely related to the part cost that it wouldn’t be worth implementing in the time available?
That will be implemented in the service costs, yes. A mid-engined car is much harder to work on than a front engined car. And a big transverse mount V8 is a nightmare in the front that is all considered!
Is there going to be something that will balance the service costs across MR, and F-mounted? For example if I wanted to produce Mid-engined cars to target a FR and/or a RR dominated market; Would it be possible in such a way that my M-engined car would still be competitive or would i be just pricing myself out of the market in relation to sales (based on my high service costs). Hopefully its been considered/wont be too extreme.
Well, everything will be somewhat balanced out, but mid-engined cars will get a reasonable service cost penalty (other factors also will be good or bad for service, so you might be able to make up for that with an intelligent design of the rest of the car). But don’t expect to be able to sell many mid-engined family cars. There’s a reason why those all are front (and sometimes rear) engined: You don’t want to sit on the engine.
Awesome If someone did manage to make a Mid-engined family car at least they could probably save costs by not having any heatin system in the car. Underfloor heating ftw! haha
I feel like the Toyota Previa is the exception to the rule here. Mid-engined family car, that didn’t have too mental service costs (according to the board at my Toyota dealer.)
