PTT Pro Touring Tour

hmm you have until OCT 9 to keep sending the STOCK cars! this will only get fun if you have plenty of contenders

Looks like I’ll be using the time to revise my engine decision for the Captain. This V6 is mediocre and an outright pest. Still, I know there’s a V8 variant somewhere…

remember I have crate engines I can give you, of all sorts

Oh, I understand. I’d prefer trying to do it with my own engine, honestly. I started out trying with the V6 because it was interesting, cool, and new. I’m only revising my decision based on my lack of tuning knowledge for the V6, whereas I understand the V8 well enough to get some respectable power out of a smaller engine. It’s simply time for me to break out the 5 liter V8 that would have been offered in the GT trim of the Captain instead of the 4 liter V6 offered in the LE trim.

this means i can just post an engine right?
like maybe i just want to be a supplier of the engines.

or. both.

i mean, i can be both a supplier of the engine for my competitors, and also race my own car?

Sounds like you have to submit a older car trim. then once we start making the pro street trims we can tune our own engine or take a manche provided crate engine. if we use a crate engine our old engine will be up for other people to use if they want. So no the only engine providers are those who enter cars in the contest.

engines available

  1. 2.0 20V I4
  2. 3.35 24V V6
  3. 4.0 FP 40V v8
  4. 5.0 MOHV v8
  5. 6.2 MOHV v8
  6. 7.2 MOHV V8

engines 1,2,5,6 are production car based just assembled with greater care and higher quality parts

3 and 4 are special engines that normally don’t get fitted in production cars, but were designed to cater the aftermarket market.

these engines all come with direct injection and run on RON 91, the users can Modify these engines if they are so inclined since all the units are N/A.

Finally settled on the look for my stock version of the car.

The Storm Captain V8 GT, mostly designed as a family cruiser, but the V8 does give it an ability to smoke the tires. Not really pushing a ton of power in stock form, but it doesn’t have to. Yes, there’s the typical “V8 power bulge” in the hood, but it’s mostly just for looks. There’s also a roof mounting for the radio antenna.

As for the paint, I thought the white was too harsh and blinding.

I’m debating as to whether to submit:

  1. a 200hp, light weight track tuned coupe which excels in the track market (1968 Armada Talon Pro Touring Edition)
  2. The Armada Talon with, like Klinardo’s car, a 500hp engine crammed into it, though I find it hard to imagine 1000 of these running around…
  3. an oversized muscle car from 1969 with a 10.0L OHV V8 pushing over 900Nm for most of its (very small) rev range, a la Dodge Charge on steroids.
  4. something else entirely

Thoughts?

anything goes, just remember that being too thirsty on gas will expose you to “stranded penalizations” and fuel tanks will be in accordance to the wheelbase

a nice approch would be to start with a very powerful car and then work on it to handle better and be easy on the tank

Ummm…wat? Fuel tank size? Stranded? Are these part of the contest now?

Yeah, well, you know what, I think I’ll wait for some more info before submitting a 5mpg land barge then

So here is the machine I sent in. The infamous VAN Speedwagon. I don’t think this thing has a thousand twins running out there, it’s really more like a hundred thousands. It has everything you need, from radio to catalytic converter. It even runs on 91 Octane! There’s also a big loading space for many things to go in. All in all, I hope it does well.

I stated in the previous thread that unless there’s ocean crossing, the travelling will be done in cars, the cars you have created from the ancient, so consider the car should be streetable.

Conan. when I imported you car into the game it was grey in colo and the engine had missing parts, what version do you run?

The thread that was deleted and as such we can not read? Please update this contest with the required details.

So we’re supposed to make a max 1975 stock car for max 12000 right?

This is still very vague. A 5mpg car is streetable, it just requires a lot of petrol station stops. At least give us some idea of what to actually expect!

Thanks strop, I thought I was doing bad with my 6.5mpg US turbo, good to know there’s always a thirstier engine out there.

Hell, I don’t think it even makes 5mpg, probably closer to 4 actually. All I know is that it develops almost as much torque as an SL65 AMG… in 1969. (Fuel economy of the SL65 AMG is however actually kind of decent).

Ohh you’re talking your older trim… Yeah I think he meant the economy of the pro street version will be a factor, no one cared about economy in the 60’s lol. The 6.5 was my mockup of a boosted pro street version of my car.
