QFC24: A Change For The Worse? [DONE]

Sure, it is always the host´s fault…

YES, the brief was small cars. If some people would not have insisted that strong that the Poll should be closed after one day (and you were one of them, btw) I would have a clear brief right from the start.
The fact that many started with what I improvised from the distance and built something larger caused me making hard and soft rules.

However, since you read the brief, it was clear that cars with much Power scare the client. So I wonder why you thought you would win with a car accelerating like a bullet? Medium reliability, horrid service cost and low safety killed your car, not me. If you didn´t tune your engine this up, you could have invested the budget elsewhere where it would have made more sense. The design rating I gave you was average, maybe even a little above that (similar to the Korssen). It was not bad at all, but somehow it lacked smoothness for me. I understand you made it a really fast one with italian hightech because brand lore, and I even included it in my review.

So, if you think you need to speak up like this to me again, with such accusations, make sure they aren´t wrong!

Just to avoid this from intensifying:
The …slight dissonance… has been cleared in discord.

He wanted to point out that the cars entered were larger than actual city cars, which is true. My descision to set the limit at 4,22 meter since that size was the largest still acceptable for me of what the people already had worked on and published to that point (mainly in discord). This left the Zephorus as almost the only REAL city car, with disadvantages in the comfort score, since small bodies hamper it.

This point is true, we did step away from pure city vehicles here. I can not revert this descision, however, with the good intention I had, I consider it not as a major hosting mistake, but I accept that you can have another opinion about that.

Yep. I agree with this and this is fine. To reiterate some sizes from real world stuff.
B segment is 3.7m-4.2m (Vauxhall Corsa/Ford Fiesta/ VW Polo)
A segment is 2.7m-3.7m (Fiat 500/ Toyota Aygo)

To the next. All the best.

What were the longest and shortest cars? I think mine is like 4.26 m so it’s on the longer side

The Zephorus was like 3,7 meter and the shortest, the Rosenthal was 4,75 meter but was called out for it.

First it’s ice-cold, then too cute for an old geezer? I kid. Good reviews, that was fun, well done!

Dr. Ing. Panzerstrudelüberprüfungsmeßermeier von Neunschwanzstein emerges from underneath a partially disassembled Clari, face covered in grease and a crazed expression, and seconds this motion.

Or, hell, let’s get that ball rolling democracy-style. For the people, by the people.

I didn’t have much “fancy” tech on this, apart from a turbo.
Adv auto 8 spd, geared LSD, prem/prem interior with 4 full seats.
Electric variable steering, ESC, prog springs, the usual.

The engine was 1.6L I3 5v T, it did have direct injection.
And… it’s small.

Tough to find time to clear it that way, but this would generally be possible

Hmm, I’ll have to get a better grip on how exactly quality works now, with tech pool, as I suspect some of that might have sneakily raised the cost of my car. Fancy suspension? None. AHS steel? None. Powerful/big engine? None. Yet it’s still not much cheaper than those two (well, larger too, but I doubt that’s much of a difference). 5th seat maybe, but honestly I made it more a car that realistically made sense, than perfectly optimised for the brief (which wouldn’t have that 5th seat).

Did any of you have a “low load capacity” warning?

Yes. I thought it was ridiculous that a subcompact with a 460-some kg payload was deemed insufficient. I also sometimes get oversteer warnings when there isn’t any at high or low speed.
