@Bread the Loaf - DAC – Tug

We start with something special. A 4x4 with a twin-turbocharged 3.3L inline-6 making all of its 325 Nm of torque in the top of the rpm range. Not really a surprise, but it has the highest running costs at 1641.8$, and the highest fuel consumption at 5km/L.

Design-wise it looks too modern for 1975 by at least 10 years.

Points: 149.4
Price: 13.800$

Score: 10.8

@WIET_SE - Wintek Gouw

A crazy-looking thing with a crazy little engine. A low-revving 2.5L 16v DOHC V8, but making a nice 184Nm in the mid-range thru a 3-speed auto and 4x4.

Developed with half the techpool cost of most, it turns out to be the least reliable.

Points: 197.2
Price: 14.000$

Score: 14.1

@AKA_NOBUDDY - CBC Quest Outsider 4x4

A good-looking small truck, powered by a 60º 3.8L V8 with one very large turbo hugging the block.

It’s a bit below average on most stats, but it’s also the 2nd cheapest to buy.

The only problem is that it’s also the 2nd most expensive to maintain, with running costs at 1530.1$

Points: 170.6
Price: 11.100$

Score: 15.4

@Ultimate_Billy - Utilly Factotum

A nice little truck with a covered bed, this time with a simple N/A 3.0L V8, it makes its peak of 197.1Nm at over 3000rpms, but that should be nicely compensated by the very short crawler gear on it's 5-speed gearbox.

Slightly bellow average stats across the board, but it only used a techpool of 25M$

Points: 217.3
Price: 13.900$

Score: 15.6

@HappyFireBallMan - Rhania-Angola Supporter Farm

A familiar design, packing a 3.2L inline-6.

Its rugged looks, paired with its many tethering points, make it look right at home in any harsh environment.

Points: 225.8
Price: 13.800$

Score: 16.4

@Vento - Capable Mover P.A.4 75

The Capable Mover is here to stay, with its full cast iron engine and very high-quality stainless steel chassis.

This also provides it with the best comfort at 26.6 and the best safety at 50.7.

Points: 254.5
Price:14.000$

Score 18.2

Huh, Thought I’d make top 10, but I’ll take it.

at least you weren’t last

7th to 1st

A very cool van-derived truck, with proportions that maximize bed space and a very mid-70’s color scheme. Nothing says 70’s like brown on brown.

Its HUGE 5.0L V6 makes 300 Nm at a low 2700 rpm directly to the rear wheels.

Points: 242.4
Price: 11.900$

Score: 20.4

@oldmanbuick - Flint Cumberland Standard

A compact truck made to be used, the Flint Cumberland Standard is the most practical of the bunch with a practicality stat of 29!

And you might use it for a long time too, because it also has the 2nd highest reliability stat at 94.1.

It has a simple and compact 3.0L V6 producing 226.5 Nm at 3100 rpm.

Points: 266.6
Price: 12.500$

Score: 21.3

@Aruna - Vizzuri VN02LW

A quirky but still very cohesive design with nice details.

An all-aluminum body on a corrosion-resistant steel chassis will ensure it lasts many years in the elements.

The engine is an all-blue, very capable 4.0L inline-6 making 299Nm at a low 2700 rpm.

Very good all-around engineering; it’s not the best in any category, but it scores consistently high in all of them.

Points: 294.6
Price: 13.700$

Score: 21.5

@Machalel - Vidar Fieldman (FN4) 330 Deluxe

A go-anywhere minty box with a very dramatic chrome-clad front fascia.

It´s 5.4L V8 producing 406.4Nm of torque should have no problem hauling what you need where you need it because the Vidar Fieldman has, by far, the highest off-road score at 79.4, well over twice the average of its competitors.

It is also the least comfortable, with comfpot score of just 8.

Points: 280.8
Price: 12.600$

Score: 22.3

@Karhgath - PILLAR 3200ML

A very utilitarian, heavy-duty-looking vehicle, which only makes finding out it’s made of aluminum and has half of a 6.4L V8 mounted transversely powering the front wheels even more unexpected.

The 3.2L inline-4 makes 261.7 Nm at a very low 1900 rpm.

It also has some very nice stats, being the 2nd highest utility at 100.1 and the lowest running costs at 646.2$. You can also plan to keep it for a long time because it has the highest environment resistance stat at 73.

Points: 335.3
Price: 14.000$

Score: 23.9

@moroza @ldub0775 - Centurion B150

A very imposing, premium-looking vehicle with a solid design made out of aluminum.

With the rear wheels powered by a substantial 5.4L inline-6 with a single top float carb, it makes 407.8Nm at a staggering low 1700rpm.

Pass this through its driveline with low ratios, and you’re sure to get the job done.

It has the higest Utility score at 107.4, the highest Reliability at 97, and almost the highest Environmental resistance at 72.3.

It’s only really hampered by the remanig stats being average, and having the lowest practicality at 18.

Points: 334
Price: 13.600$

Score: 24.6

@Ducethetruth100 - Wells Cub

A good-looking truck seems to be early decade, but utilitarian designs tend to stick for longer.

With some nice details all around, the Wells Cub seems ready and happy for the little jobs around the farm.

RWD and powered by a 2.0L inline-4, its simple ethos should keep you away from headaches.

Now, this may come as a surprise, but the Wells Cub has the lowest utility score of the bunch at 55.1… But! It makes up for it by having the highest drivability at 56.1, being the most fuel efficient at 8 km/L, being the 2nd cheapest to maintain while being one of the most reliable, and being an absolute BARGAIN at only 9.280$!

Yes, I’ll have the blue one, please!

Points: 239.8
Price: 9.280$

Score: 25.8

Thank you all for participating, see you on the next one!

What’s next?

LDub passed. I can’t host on my own - too much writing to commit to - but would co-host with someone else. @karhgath ? @machalel ?

I’m coming back from the previous round and will be busy the next few weeks so I unfortunately have to pass it down as well

Good contest! Happy to have gotten 5th with the unique Vizzuri goober, and knowing I was on the mark all around for engineering is pleasing! :grin:

Properly shocked at the price of the winner, that must be the most basic of all trucks to be so undercutting the competition!

If the baton is passed down to me I may be able to make the next one as I’ve basically finished my next model for the vanilla game and have spare time again :ok_hand:

Does it having a premium interior count as basic? I believe it has one. I remember thinking it SHOULD have one to hopefully offset its size and power deficit.

It’s looking like Aruna and I will be co-hosting QFC54.

We were also thinking of 1989 for the Le Mans idea but cannot edit the poll after five minutes of posting, so votes for 67 we’ll do a vote on year if it is most popular I think
