TFW I can’t make a convertible version of my CW8 car because it’s too long it’s joeber.
I mean I’m probably going to be making a car similar to the Toyota MR2 anyway.
That’s why a convertible/roadster based on your CW8 entry won’t be eligible - its wheelbase is too long ( although the 2.45m and 2.25m versions are eligible for use). Then again, its 400 bhp seems a bit excessive compared to the engines found in the inspirations list.
I was also considering submitting a convertible version of my CW8 entry as well - before I realized that it, too, may be too powerful for this challenge, what with it also having 400 horsepower.
Considering how OP AWD (even if it’s a simple viscous system) is in Automation (even in the stable release) regarding drivability and acceleration, I’m not surprised that we can’t use it here. Then again, I was always going to stick with RWD for my entry, regardless of whatever engine I pick (and whether it’s placed in the front, middle, or rear).
I mean yeah my CW8 car it’s quite long and I don’t wanna use a lower wheelbase version of the same car. I don’t really got a car ATM since I just started experimenting with other convertible bodies. Though I’ll probably try to start something when I’m less busy.

Summary
Katami foray into open top sub ton sports cars!
Built for the new millenum, Katami Solare or also known as it’s internal chassis code the EXR-2 (EXperimental Roadster 2000) was built as something more exciting for a car brand that is more known for it’s taxis and day to day hatchbacks. The Solare main appeal is the driving experience of driving the purest form of a sports car with modern day safety and equipment such as traction control and a 6 speed manual transmission.
Under the hood the engine was mounted mid-transverse instead of the front like most cars causing a totally different driving experience than other cars. The engine is a 2 liter inline 4 and thanks to it’s VVC (Variable Valve Control) it can produce 190hp and 180ft-lbs, resulting in a 0-60 in less than 5.1 seconds and an eletronically limited top speed of 249km/h.
Lightness and handeling was the top priority for Katami with double wishbone suspension all around, 225mm 16" inch wheels everywhere around the car and a more driving centric cockpit it all results in the total weight being 995KGs the all aluminium chassis and partial aluminium body panels also helps. It’s great for both on the winding mountain roads of Japan and on the track as seen here. Only for $25200 AMU.
It is 2002 and like many other car manufacturers Fulgur wanted to make a retrostyled follow up of one of their earlier cars, the 70s Fulgur Fenja.
As Fulgur is a small company with limited resources, the engine tuning and chassi engineering was outsourced to Nordwagen.
They gave the car a 2.5l NA flat six engine giving 230hp that makes the Fenja II do 0-100 km/h under 5 seconds and reach a top speed at around 260 km/h and the ability to stay firmly on the road while doing it. (se stats below)
All in all a drivers car and a competative package that brings back the open sportscar feeling from the 60s and 70s.
Thanks to @Moroza for a good collab.
2002 AMS Acheron 1.6R
More of a targa-topped roadster (in the vein of the S2 Elise and the closely related VX220) than a full convertible, with its detachable hardtop - but at $32k AMU in this spec, with trackday tires, shorter gearing, lighter wheels, and stiffer suspension, it’s the ultimate affordable track tool.
2002 Crowley Lavinia S350
With the Lavinia, Crowley extends the age-old British roadster formula into the 21st century, with a house-built 3.6 litre inline-six engine producing 350 horsepower, a six-speed manual gearbox, rear-wheel drive and a limited-slip differential. An aluminium chassis and a fibreglass body help keep the kerb weight under a tonne, ensuring that this tiny roadster offers a thrilling, high-performance driving experience. A basic CD player and air conditioning are available for more comfort-minded drivers, as are anti-locking brakes and electronic traction control.
Your skillful sculpting of the base body set ('the 05 Mercy) to create the masterpiece that is the Lavinia gives me some Tamora vibes. Its front-mounted 3.6L I6 is a nice contrast to the 1.6L I4 in my AMS Acheron, whose mid-engined configuration evokes the Series 2 Elise (and by extension, the Vauxhall VX220/Opel Speedster).
And I’ve noticed that so far, I’m the only entrant using the '00 Exige mod body set - the Fenja is based on the '72 Flatnose (2.43m wheelbase), while the FR-C utilizes the '92 Evade (2.26m wheelbase), and the Amida and Solare (the latter of which shares its name with Rivelta’s flagship in Ridge Racer V) are built on the '98 Stradale (2.33m wheelbase) - the same one I was considering until I found it to be too wide (and large) for the vibe I was aiming for.
maybe lightning can strike twice?
Facelifted for the '02 model year; with a larger and more potent engine, limited slip differental, uprated brakes, suspension and tires, new electric folding roof, chrome detailing, and more with the Cygneoie Friseurin 2.8

THE NEW FOR 2002 RAUK BIFROST
(Engineered by @Ritz )
WAIT, WTF is this?
By the late 90s, times were getting harder for small volume manufacturers. What RAUK realized by then, was that they needed a model that was a little more civilized, refined, appealing to a larger crowd, than the rather primitive and almost kit car-esque models they had been making this far. For the brand purists, however, it was quite a shock when they decided to team up with another Swedish competitor, Norrsken.
The 2002 RAUK Bifrost featured a steel/aluminium body, unusual for RAUK that until then had generally been fiberglass bodied. What was also new, was the glued aluminium chassis design (that was something that RAUK took with them to some later models). The engineering was actually for the most part done by Norrsken, that had more experience in making cars with a somewhat broader appeal than RAUK was used to. Also, the manufacturing was outsourced to Norrsken, since the Gotland factory wasn’t all that adapted for higher volume production. However, the styling was 100% an in house affair by RAUK themselves.
The weird part was that the story by no means ended when the production of the Bifrost ended in 2007. Instead, Norrsken did a heavy revision of the platform, as well as a major restyling, and re-released the model under their own name. The Norrsken Aquila was born. But that’s a story for another time.

2002 Voltari Kiruna RS
New for 2002, the Voltari Kiruna recieves a new RS trim, sporting a performance tuned 3.5L naturally aspirated inline-6 with a performance intake, individual throttle bodies, a free-flowing exhaust system, and larger fuel injectors, for a peak output of 332 horsepower and 317lb-ft of torque, mated to a 6-speed manual, sending power to the rear wheels via a torque-sensing limited slip differential. All 2002 Kirunas can also be equipped with a targa-style roof, with or without a glass panel (glass panel shown on this RS model), and all targa-equipped Kirunas recieve extensive chassis bracing to maintain the expected level of quality and solidity from a Voltari product.
