It did change quite a lot, mainly for detailing sake it was easier (finding a 2+2 coupe was not easy)

Yeah I think having both a pushrod V8 and live axle didn’t really help with my stats since most of it was spent on the engine (although the mustang of that era still had live axle rears but a more modern V8).

Engineering isn’t my strong suit but I did like designing the car. (I just find it kind of funny that the og Venus was more comfortable than the new one lol).

Anyway very epic review my brozzah I can’t wait to see what the others are cooking.

btw was my 17L/100km fuel eco abysmal? it was the only stat that was actively bothering me.

Given that I typically build vehicles with both the durability and the visual appeal of a brick, this is probably the nicest thing anyone has ever said about any of my styling efforts, and it’s also hilarious to me that even when I was worried the reliability was “too low,” it ended up being “very reliable!” Given my history including two dead last place finishes in sports car challenges, I’m pretty pleased with this result.

Thanks for the fun challenge and the very quick turnaround on the reviews!

Also, I like to think that somewhere in Auto-verse, a salesman at Artemis of Oshawa is breathing a deep sigh of relief now that the very strangely speaking AI agent just cancelled a test drive for the '13 Osprey .

Good luck to the finalists!

Well…my initial build before adjusting anything was over 32k:cold_face::cold_face: Of course, that’s mean I had to compromised a lot for it to not go over 29500. Nevertheless, I had fun experimenting with the design and proud with it. Good luck finalists!

Finals:

After consulting the slopbot, Edgar was now on his way to test drive the roster of 6 vehicles, starting with the DNB:

DNB S31s Vampir Edition

After arriving by bus and dapping up the salesman, Edgar hops in. Almost immediately, Edgar noticed just how comfortable the ride was in this car, mostly thanks to its very sophisticated suspension system that adjusted and adapted to the potholes around him. On a normal cruise, this thing was serene. Once Edgar got onto the backroads (which are literally as straight as a ruler in Oshawa), a good punch brought this car to go-to-jail speeds in a quick manner, with some hesitation in the transmission, premature activation of traction control, and hesitant screams from… the parking sensors?? After one last hurrah over a crest, Edgar and his frightened salesman return to the dealer.

“What’s your best price cro I can do 100 bands?”

“Get lost.”

Daebyeon X8 President

Up next was the big old Jajangmyeon. Edgar took a quick glance at the silver coupe on the lot. While not wow’d by the looks, he knew that it would at least likely be worthy of a drive… and some forged carbon fenders… and an Aliexpress carbon wheel… and… anyways…

Although not quite as plush as the DNB, the Korean Gamjatang still delivered a level of comfort that was great. No complaints from EK at all. As well, the Tteokbokki pushed itself to 60 faster than the previous DNB, with a lot more power to brag about over the internet. After pulling up to the local Osmow’s, Edgar gave the Samgyeopsal Sundubu Jigae Smagyetang a swing of the wheel and a punch of the gas. The Ppyeohaejangguk smoked its tires with zero effort, sending a plume of smoke into the parking lot air… until the fuel light came on.

The BTS PSY Blackpink SEVENTEEN GOT7 was then pushed back to the dealer by Edgar and his saleswoman.

“I’ll do $14,000 cro”

“gil-eul ilhda gaenyeon-a”

Shromet Dragon Advantage!

Off to Scarborough to whip the Shromet! After a grueling TTC ride, Edgar had made it to the towering dealer, greeted by a young man in suspenders and thick framed glasses.

Oh my word the sound system. That Nav went NUTS cro. Edgar could really hear every lip smack from the first brown boy to get it popping that for once, Nav actually sounded good. On the drive, the Dragon delivered a ride similar to that of the Korean object, although in tame situations, the carski was a little awkward and wallowy, unfortunately due to its high body roll. However, Edgar forgot about all of that when he stamped the throttle. That 4.1-second 0-60 was no cap ahlie, and this thing hugged the corners like crazy. Healthy power, healthy cornering, the Dragon put a big smile on EK’s face when pushing it hard.

Sadly, the drive was interrupted by a sudden check engine light, a loud pop out of the speaker, and Edgar’s power seat moving forward on its own. All of a sudden, him and his nerdy salesman found themselves headed into the front water feature of the Aga Khan. Fortunately, everyone was ok.

“Cro iont know man I can only do $13,000”

“Erm… get lost noob!!”

Durand Remora DSE

Edgar’s eyes were wow’d seeing this parked up front. What a looker this thing was. As he finished up his Tiktok edit clowning on Davalos EVs for the 834579835719385671398531978th time, the salesman ushered him into the Remora.

Insanely easy to drive and very controllable both when cruising and going 10/10ths (cutting it up on the 401 like a goof), the dynamics of the Remora were very impressive. It wasn’t as comfy as the last few cars, but Edgar was willing to overlook it for feeling so cool in the rowdy sports coupe. Although it was technically down on power vs everyone but the DNB, giving EK less to brag about, it was still more than quick enough to make him feel like he could impress his broccoli hair friends. A few tire chirps later and after running through a bike rack attempting a lane-split, they were back at the dealer.

“Aight lissen cro, I can only-”

“Fack off mate”

FSMC Champion 366FSX

FMSC more like… Fast Muscular Sports Car or whatever. Yeah that sums it up. Equally easy to drive as the Remora, just as quick, just as intimidating, but miles comfier, the Champion had a lot cooking for Edgar. On the drive, its boatiness definitely could not be hidden, but that was no issue for Edgar given how relaxed he was reclined past the B pillar donkeying the throttle to hear that blower bucking the 520-horsepower boat around. Edgar was levitating. Literally. Only brought back to reality by the fuel light.

“Iont know shordie how about $15k”

“I’ll think about it partner”

Ragnarock Hargrove ST-8

Last on the list and the least expensive too, was the Hargrove ST-8. Edgar just could not believe the listing price, especially for such a looker as this car. He was equally surprised at just how it drove just as well as every other car on the list, while also being just as comfortable.. For so much cheaper??? He thought the salesman was capping, but it turns out that these were just that inexpensive from the factory.

Off to the only curves in all of Durham Region, some of its cost-cutting measures were made a little clear, including some minor glitches in the launch control initiation and a conservative ESC system. Other than that, power? Straight-line speed, interior experience? Every single box was checked off so easily that each little quirk of the Hargrove was easy enough to ignore. After nearly sliding into oncoming traffic on Old Finch, the shaken salesman brought Edgar back to the dealer to talk numbers before it ran out of fuel.

In summary:

5.The DNB is insanely comfy, but generally down on wow’ish stats compared to its very strong competition

4.The Daebyeon is statistically really great, but down on prestige and… honestly… looks. The Champion generally does things just a bit better

3.The Remora is a very strong contender with a great price too, but might sacrifice a bit too much comfort for sportiness. It looks great, it performs amazing, to the point where the lower power could be overlooked. It is just so close to the Champion and I was basically flip-flopping these cars’ positions through the entire challenge, but the Champion is just slightly better relative to the brief and when astral projecting Edgar’s mind into my conscience

2.The Champion did almost nothing wrong and was solidified as the winner for the latter half of the competition. Super comfy, high in prestige, very drivable, still reliable, it is only beat out by…

1.The Hargrove. $26,600 at almost equal performance to the Champion. Absolutely bonkers.

A week later…

Edgar and his friends roll up to the intersection of King and Mary, ready to start their show. A couple revs in Park of the Hargrove attracts the attention of… the homeless person on the northeast corner.

On the green light, Edgar punches the throttle and chucks the wheel to full lock. One rotation later…

And that was that.

Congratulations @chiefzach2018 and @DrDoomD1scord for winning QFC71! Your entry had undercut every single other competitor at the last second, while offering nearly zero compromise on performance. Great stuff.

The final standings are as follows:

5.@Tsundere-kun
4.@DoctorNarfy
3.@Nebulon

IM FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Postmortem and my own benchmark

This was a fun challenge to host. Big shoutout to @Endfinity for the CSV exporter and @AMuteCrypt for the scoring sheet. Both made this way easier of an effort than any other challenge I’ve hosted in the past.

Also, great entries from everyone. This was a tough challenge to judge, especially with how diverse the top 6 were in their own right. In the end though, the winner was clear but I cannot lie, the top 2-3 were really difficult to juggle. One was a high-power comfy boat, the other was an aggressive performance machine. Agggghh.

Anyways, my benchmark which I decided to style for fun. Y’all already saw the stats and you will see it in the spreadsheet too, but styling-wise, this was generally along the lines of what I gave a 3.5 to 4 score.

The elusive spreadsheet

And as promised, here’s the link to my scoring sheet, with lots of notes for y’all in styling, and some notes for the top 10.

Thank you everyone again. Here’s to more fun QFC’s down the line.

Anyways, I quite enjoyed entering this, 3rd place is pretty damn good too! (I lowk wasn’t expecting to do that well lmao, I was aiming for midfield). But yeah, I thought the story was pretty cool and funny, and it diiiiid spawn what is probably one of my favorite things I’ve (with the help of Vanilla) made for an Automation ad so far. It was a good challenge overall I’d say, and ofc, GG to the other entrants, and thank you for hosting this QFC!

(Also just saying this in advance, but if the 2 people before me pass down the challenge, then I’m passing it down too lmao)

Gg’s everyone and thank you Yang for the amazing round! Judging was a hilarious read and I’m so happy we participated! I’m also glad Edgar enjoyed his Hargrove (Although for merely a week lol)

Unfortunately neither I or Zach can host next round so I’m passing it down to @Xepy

I’ve passed down already sooooo @DoctorNarfy your call now lol

I can’t say I had something prepared to host after coming in fourth  . But I think I’ll throw something together and see what I can do! It’s been quite awhile since I last hosted a challenge (I think CSR113 was the last time) so keep an eye out for something shortly!

I’ve just noticed that your Hargrove ST-8 is based on the same body set (the '09 Jackal in 2-door coupe configuration) as my (abortive) entry. The only reason why I didn’t submit it (on time, at least) was that the size I’d chosen (2.57m wheelbase) didn’t seem sufficiently realistic for the mandated 2+2 seating arrangement, although it was theoretically possible. The 2.75m wheelbase version can more easily accommodate a +2 rear seat, though.
