Submissions are closed!

Or have closed last night at 12AM EST (which I should have wrote EDT instead but oh well, that’s my fault).

Due to a glitch with aero in this game raising people’s prices when opening/closing their vehicles, I would like to offer a voluntary sanity check on people’s entries

If you have the time and don’t worry if you don’t, can you DM me a screenshot of the stat sheet of your entry? Here’s an example below from my own benchmark :wink:

This will help me figure out which cars I need to re-export. Many thanks!

UPDATE: I’ve opted to do my due diligence and re-download all entries to manually check prices. Consider this optional now

On the couch, Edgar pulls out his phone and starts conducting research, assisted by his favourite slopbot, CityboyJJ.AI (let it be known that these are all hand-typed with love and care).

Wallahi Edgar! Here are the drippiest whips I have pulled from various reviews on the internet, summarized in as little words as possible as requested!

@Evboy

Check this car out, EK.stayyclickin. Don’t sleep on this muscle machine! A work of true bing bang boom art! This beast is an absolute showstopper. A hardass gangster machine! At a price of $29,700-

“Wallahi I’m cheesed ts bare clanker MOD styll :skull::skull::skull::skull::skull::skull::skull::skull:

Disqualified for being $200 over the price limit, having positive front downforce, and having a front tire width ending in “0” instead of “5”.

@iTouring

I’m sorry Edgar, the Surin Luton may not be a real car and therefore, I cannot make you the cheesecake recipe.

Ahh, dis one hurt a bit—unfortunately, di submission come in bout 6 hours past di deadline! :grimacing: An honestly, dat a one real shame, cause dis coulda did a seriously strong contender—easily top 10 material. But rules a rules, an since it miss di cutoff, it jus can’t be included. So despite it potential, it nuh mek di cut.

Disqualified for late entry.

@George

Dis one come too late tu. Like… insanely late. Dis come inna di middle a di workday even. Sadly, di shooting brake style jus skirts di rules a likkle too much fi mi consider it inna di top 10. Mi ago seh, it at least neva use a bare steel unibody. More pan dis later.

Disqualified for late entry.

@mausil

The Shinya GT s is quite a reliable vehicle out of the entire pack, with a very solid and upscale interior package for its price and comfortable ride. However, its power output remains low and more suited in something like a Crown Victoria for its 223hp out of a 4.0L V8, making it miss any punch that could have matched its loud colours. Not to mention, its pure steel chassis and panels (unseen of in the era) means this thing likely won’t survive a single Ontario winter.

Does not make it to finals.

@hypermud

There’s one impressive feat of the Tempest and that is the fact that it managed to shove in a 6.0L V12 within the challenge constraints! However, it’s definitely down on power for its size. The very short gearing isn’t really doing it much favours and despite having that V12 and active sway bars, it’s not as comfortable as the majority of the competition. It’s very far from sporty too, held back by its tires. Still, respect for the V12 choice.

Does not make it to finals.

@xepy

Bold and brawny styling, a healthy powerful supercharged V8, a very comfortable ride while being insanely easy to chuck around due to masterful suspension and chassis tuning, the Champion 366FSX punches insanely high in its class with little compromise, besides maybe its fuel economy…

Makes it to finals.

@doctornarfy

The Advantage! trim of the Dragon manages to fit in an incredibly sophisticated audiophile-grade sound system with some incredible multimedia functionality in the era (this bitch got luxury infotainment in the price!!). The impressive coupe outcorners and outdrags most of the competition too, making for a thrilling ride that no one would expect with its otherwise classy styling. All is only hampered by its noticeably low reliability.

Makes it to finals.

@Prime_Moss

The Delica Synchro 480 is engineered quite… strangely for its time. It sits on a partial monocoque chassis not typically seen in modern cars these days (let alone sports cars in general), has a pretty insane final drive (5.81) but somehow performs relatively okay. However, given its questionable engineering choices, lacking prestige stat, low comfort due to infotainment compromises and less-than-inspiring grip from its medium compound tires, this one does not quite make it.

Does not make it to the finals.

Top 10 Automation images of all time btw.

@nebulon

The Durand Remora DSE from down-under is welcome to the American piss-up, a common term for the people down-under (source: obsolete link from 2001)! This attractive sports coupe is backed by equally attractive performance on the butt-dyno with reasonable-enough power numbers for its looks, and size of its naturally-aspirated V8. Not to mention, a solid interior package makes it reasonably comfortable, albeit with some compromises made to its ride for extra performance over cushiness.

Makes it to finals.

@David_Herrera

The Kurosake S-300 provides generally OK stats all-round, but doesn’t quite exceed performance-wise anywhere. Its styling is solid, but generally middle-of-the-pack compared to other options. In short, other cars do it better for the same price, let alone achieve better without a bare steel unibody that would not see the light of day in Ontario.

Does not make it to the finals.

@moroza

The Dalluha Coach & Motor Works Marqaba Standard Eight M is a big-name, equally big car and a big hitter too, Edgar-ting! This 4,600 lb(!!!) yacht propels itself to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds, thanks to its 500-horse V8. It is clear that a lot of investment has went into the interior experience of this vehicle too, although at the compromise of some skimped QA/QC in the body, suspension, chassis, among other areas. The styling is fitting yet… maybe a bit polarizing? There are some durability and quality concerns regarding the vehicle’s body and panels, which may or may not bode well for the longevity of some of its out-there design elements in the salty winters of Ontario.

Unfortunately, it is beaten out by a car that does things just as well for the same price, with less concessions to build quality in the crucial areas that can make or break a car in this rust-prone province.

Does not make it to the finals by a slim margin, but places within the top 10. Man, don’t get me wrong I did like this thing and it was in the top 5 for the longest time. Then the entries kept on coming and coming and it was slowly pushed out by more and more cars. The top 6-8 are the tightest bunch in the competition and dare I say, if I were allowed to, it would have been a three-way tie. OK yap over, back to the short reviews.

@superbiirdd

The Kaleia CS37 KP-E is an attractive and superbly comfortable sedan with a decent amount of power to scoot it around. However, its spirited looks are let down by a less-than-spirited driving experience due to its “eh” tires and very confusing choice of an open differential. While the CS37 will move you around comfortably, don’t expect it to do more than a one-wheel-peel if you’re trying to show off.

Does not make it to finals. Decently on-brief, except for the open diff. While it is possible to throw an open diff car around in circles, it takes marginally more skill, which Edgar does not have.

@l0jli

The Raptor GTS is a solidly near-front-of-the-pack vehicle. It does a lot of things well, namely, it delivers impressive performance for a vehicle that surprisingly ditches the typical multilink rear suspension geometry for a semi-trailing arm. It doesn’t quite make it to the top 5 but gets close, only let down by some disproportionate styling and relatively similar performance to others for more money.

Does not make it to the finals, but places within the top 10.

@koviico

The Arima Cavsage SR hides its sporty dynamics in a bit of a stealthy aesthetic. It is a reasonably easy-to-drive vehicle and comfy, although it does make compromises within its infotainment suite especially at the price point. Its power is on the lower side of a V8, although that’s to be expected out of one that is about 3.8L large and naturally-aspirated. As a result, it is not the quickest of the bunch in a straight line, and has to compromise significantly on highway manners to hit that 5.6-second-to-100 time via a very short final drive.

Does not make it to the finals, and just inches out of the top 10. Wonderfully styled though.

@Tsundere-kun

Our first Korean entry Edgar! Annyeonghaseo! - the Daebyeon X8 President packs some 503-horsepower punch out of its 5.0L V8. Fast in a straight line, high top speed, a very comfy interior package, while still being easy to control to boot, not to mention quite reliable? This is essentially just a mildly cheaper Champion that maybe looks a little plain in comparison to its competition.

Makes it to finals. Just barely.

@Capri78

Wallahi Edgar! Here is the second bare Korean cyattie in the function u kno! The Hwasun Arcturus R V6 is a reliable, premium and comfortable sedan. However, there’s not enough sport pedigree to really justify its “R” badge. Other V6 competitors manage to squeeze out both more power and acceleration to 100 km/h, while also flaunting their dynamics much better around corners. This just has too little “wow” to really reel you in.

Does not make it to the finals.

@the-chowi

The Cairns Brigadier S420 is a real looker. I’ll even break character to say it might be the best-looking of the bunch. While the Brigadier’s performance is more than solid all-round, it definitely compromises on ride quality and interior glitz to do so. This has proved to be a very solid budget option, but others have done better for the same price, or just about $500 more.

Does not make it to the finals, and just inched out beyond the top 10.

@Cyder0719

The Cascadia Intimidator CRT8 Talladega feels very much based on its real-life counterpart, minus the engineering. The open differential means that attempts at donuts will instead end up being croissants as you burn up one wheel trying. The 5-speed dual-clutch is a little suspicious as well. Otherwise, the Intimidator actually boded quite well in general on a power front, as well as in the comfort aspects. A solid first challenge entry, with some fallacies in choices that require judgment calls that will be learned through participation in more challenges.

Does not make it to finals.

@bang6111

Two twos Edgar, this is an interesting whip! A real bone shaker! This is the only rear live axle entry out of the pack and man do I give it a lot of respect for sticking to those roots. However, even at its $29,300 price, it makes a lot of sacrifices in areas that knock down its competitiveness a little too much. While it does have some very good straightline punch, it is much less comfortable than the competition due to its harsh ride and lack of premium infotainment. For the money, there is better.

Does not make it to finals.

@theboxgamer41

The Wayward Conquest NS8 is at the very top of the budget - a solid package with some fun details like a full iron block/head V8. It doesn’t really falter anywhere, neither does it really stand out from the competition anywhere either, besides the very high reliability. A solid entry that is just outperformed by a very strong competition that does it better for equal or less money.

Does not make it to the finals, and barely falls out of the top 10. Solid solid effort otherwise.

@conan

For sure, Edgar! Check out this steezy convertible! This is also the only inline-6 vehicle on the list. The MMW Ares 330c Kompressor’s biggest party trick is that rain drop… drop top. It maintains an OK amount of straight-line pull with a very technical inline-6 engine, but the driving experience becomes jarring as a result of its non-variable electric rack (for the sake of this challenge, I’ll say it’s drive-by-wire). You do, however, save a lot on upfront price.

Does not make it to the finals, but places within the top 10. While I put less emphasis on the raw sportiness stat, I used it as a guideline. This entry sacrifices just too much on that front. Still, being a very cheap convertible with a good interior and a decent amount of punch brings it to the top 10 for me.

@Ultimate_Billy

Yes, EK. This is the Bovos Hercules. This vehicle does not necessarily do too much wrong, but is just too expensive compared to the competition which does what it can do, either better for the same price or for less. The 300hp V8 mixed with its gearing and weight brings it to 100 km/h slower than other vehicles in its class, making it lack a bit of punch, while its comfort is hampered by some stiffly-tuned springs.

Does not make it to finals.

@vanilla

In the list next is the Windsor GST-4 - an attractive premium coupe with mostly no compromises… except a bare steel unibody. Since this has been the case for more than a few entries, let’s get this straight…

The challenge is set in Canada.

It snows in Canada.

So roads are salted in Canada.

As a result, cars rust in Canada.

There is a reason why clean 2000s Mazdas are almost extinct here, and even they used some form of (albeit very poorly-applied) galvanizing. They paid dearly for this.

This is a very strong entrant otherwise, and with at least some coating on the chassis and maybe a swap of material on the panels to offset the additional costs of a coated steel, it would have likely made it into the top 10. Solid effort, but just an engineering decision away from greatness.

Does not make it to finals.

@HyperskiesSM

Ahlie, Edgar! Hopefully you’re not marved yet because this ting bare steez, styll. The DNB S31s Vampir Edition is a solidly-engineered vehicle which is not only easy to drive and quick enough, but is also complemented by a VERY comfortable ride. Doing this at a price that undercuts the competition is equally impressive, making this a very strong consideration.

Makes it to finals. Just barely.

@oldmanbuick

The Artemis Osprey Gale manages to push a very solid amount of power that beats out even a bunch of its forced-induction competition. Solid power, solid butt-dyno thrust, solid comfort, a sporty driving feel altogether, very reliable(!) This entry is, however, held back by some decent but not wow-ing styling, and a bit more awkwardness to maneuver the car, while keeping it off the curb when pushing it.

I had a really hard time picking the entries that would be in the top 4-7, and sadly this one gets edged out by multiple better-value cars.

Does not make it to finals, but places within the top 10.

@thatepicbob

Our second convertible entry! However, this one is sadly down on most fronts. It is actually relatively fast in a straight line though thanks to its powerful boxer. Like many other cars though, that bare steel unibody isn’t helping it see the light of day in the Ontario climate…

Does not make it to finals.

@Ananas

We’re so late into judging at this point that I just want to bin this with one sentence - bare steel chassis and panels. I actually did give more leeway to bare steel panels as a result of treated steel being so cost-prohibitive/not competitive and a steel/polymer option not existing in this game yet which would have been the most realistic.

Our third convertible! This is actually a pretty strong contender otherwise and the V10, albeit quality-dropped in many places, is impressively fit into the competition. Sport/luxury infotainment is also very impressive. It’s just unfortunately let down by the chassis choice and to an extent, styling. At $28,100, there was also definitely room to fit in some galvanizing.

Does not make it to finals, but a great effort regardless.

@Tullified

Nyeah eh EK? The second Aussie Aussie Oi Oi Oi! Entry comes from DUM with the Yarra. Because Yarra DUM wasteyute crodie! You have been on your phone for 2 hours and you have gotten ZERO tings mod bucket. Anyways, because you’ve been scrolling for so long, I’m gonna make this short.

This is a brilliant looking vehicle with an equally good price, but are you sure you want to go cheaper on a car that is otherwise average or below average for $1000 less, when there are much more comfy, quick, and bare flex cars out there? That’s what I thought crodie.

Does not make it to finals. A solid budget entry but perhaps a little too lacking for a budget-side car.

@bdub1

The Ariete Selara SC-8 is a sporty and reliable coupe with decent stats, but perhaps in the wrong places. It lacks as nice of an interior as its competitors with its top dollar price, while also not providing the most comfortable ride due to its very sport-biased suspension. Many other competitors strike a good balance between that “wow” factor power, speed, and comfort. This one sadly doesn’t quite do it.

Does not make it to finals.

@chiefzach2018 & @DrDoomD1scord

EK u greezy bare certi dutty WASTEYUTE. You finally made it to the end. The Ragnarock Hargrove ST-8 is by far the least expensive option out of the entire competition at a bare $26,600. Ahlie I’m VEXXED this thing does everything so well, better than half the field for the money. It even looks the part too. Its only downside is its wossy fuel economy. Calling this car a strong contender is an understatement.

Makes it to the finals.

The rankings from #10 to #7 are:

10.@conan
9. @l0jli
8. @oldmanbuick
7. @moroza

The following entrants make it to the finals, sentenced to a menacing test drive by Edgar:

Unsurprisingly, it sounds like I made a car for a Korean businessman, rather than an ‘Edgar’, I did suspect that was gonna happen. Apart from that, the Hwasun sounds far too sensible for someone like Edgar anyway, even if they are driven by equally shit drivers.

The relative slowness of the car doesn’t surprise me either, I figured rather early on it would be on the slower end of this.

Nice to see this challenge already being fairly quick though.

Yeahh sadly there’s a weird bug going on with aero that sometimes moves it the tiniest amount and completely goofs all the stats. I forwarded the issue to the devs and they’re working on it the last I heard.

Unfortunately the 0-ending tire width and positive downforce would have cooked you anyways. And if not for those, your entry would have been generally in the middle ish pack I assume. Good effort otherwise!
