The larger of the NA1/NA2 NSX-esque body sets (with a 2.4m wheelbase) is indeed at least 2m wide (before adjusting rear wheel arch morphs), compared with 1.7m wide for the smaller of the two (2.4m wheelbase). In fact, in real life, the ACO won’t allow anything more than 2m wide, making the larger NSX body set even more difficult to justify.
The 24 hour grace period is now over and I have received the pending items from:
@Le_cacatoes
@ldub0775
@KSIolajidebt
@RacingDukes did not make any resubmission, so the file they initially sent in will be the one I use.
@04mmar did not post an updated presentation for their LMH, so that car will not receive any points for presentation on the judging poll (-10 points).
Anyways, that’s not the main point of this post.
Out of a total of 30 entries, only a whopping FIVE were without any issues. @the-chowi, @Portalkat42, @TanksAreTryhards, and @Tyhikastija can skip the next few posts until I release the poll.
Every other car broke at least one rule, which is technically a binnable offense. But it wouldn’t be much of a challenge if we ran with just 5 entries, would it?
So I decided to limit bins to just the cars that broke the dimensions regulations. Which left… 15 cars. Out of 30.
“But isn’t that unfair to the 5 entries that did everything right?”
Well, here’s what I propose. All cars which broke a rule but aren’t binned under the dimensions regs have a 10% penalty (-5 points) as well as -1 point for every rule they broke. That means only the 5 “perfect” entries will have the potential to get the full 50 points, while the rest have to suffer penalties of up to -11 points off their final score.
So once again, what do you think? In another 24 hours I will close this poll and release the bins accordingly. See you then.
- Allow “minor” offenders to compete with strict penalties applied.
- BIN 'EM ALL

by 0.66 mm, in a very inconsequential spot…
seems very minor compared to some of the minor offenders’ faults…
i’d argue that it should at least be considered a minor offender.
Yeah i get your frustration, mine was one millimeter as well.
I would like to suggest another penalty for breaking the dimension rule.
-1 point per millimeter over the limit (rounded up)
People who are over by a smidge can appeal the bin decision since the car might still be competitive. People who are way over should not bother appealing since the car would not be competitive to relieve the workload of checking the cars. Would there be support for this?
I know the people affected would probably support this, so im interested in what the people who aren’t, thinks?
Probably goes without saying but I support this. Would be a shame for our cars to be out of the running when some oversights that to me seem more glaring are still in competition…
If all the major offenders in the GT category were simply rejected as-is, we’d have only 10 entrants there, of which only five entrants were not subject to any penalties. Also, as things stand, regarding the other categories, LMDh will be completely absent (neither of the submissions in that class will be eligible) and three of the 10 LMH submissions will be ineligible.
Ah ffs XD I totally forgot about the model/trim years and the cooling flaps! Ah well. Maybe next year, if there’s another of these!
As regards the length limit stuff: Agreed, cars that are just a hair over should only get minor penalties. Not really fair to ding them that hard for something inconsequential imo
TBH, I don’t believe that any one part can be consequential or inconsequential. The limits are quite clearly defined with no exceptions save for the mirrors and wheels. IIRC they use lasers for measurement irl, so that’s probably even more exact than I am.
I did consider binning cars with missing equipment as that would also be quite an egregious offence irl. However as you can see, that would be a large portion of the grid…
OK, I am willing to do this up to 5mm, meaning the new width limits are 2055.00mm for GT and 2105.00mm for LMH. Of course, you will still be subject to the 10% penalty like all rulebreakers. If anyone believes they still have a competitive car and wants to appeal, please use a bounds box to measure your car. Make sure this box is in a contrasting colour and covers the whole car.
For GT:
Use the largest 3D cube scaled to 24 on the length axis and 10.275 on the width axis.
For LMH:
Use the largest 3D cube scaled to 26 on the length axis and 10.525 on the width axis.
If your car is eligible for reentry, please send me an appeal DM with a screenshot of the measurement setup. Make sure everything is visible in the pic, and most importantly be honest. I still have the right to reject any appeal if I find things do not match on my end. Good luck.
I’m guessing mine is ineligible for resubmission given the other three infractions? Just so we’re clear on what constitutes a resubmittable entry versus a permanently binned one
A permanently binned entry is any entry that exceeds the limits by more than 5mm. If an entry has other infractions but falls within the 5mm, they are eligible for appeal and will be penalised accordingly like the minor offenders.
Unfortunately all cars that exceeded the length limit, including yours, exceeded it by more than 5mm, hence they are ineligible for appeal.
It’s important to note that this is only an appeal, not a chance for resubmission. I will not be accepting any more .car files.
It’s a pity my partner didn’t observe the rules carefully
Gotcha. Well, good luck to all the participants As for me, I’m planning on releasing a version of my entry to the public, so this has been a useful learning experience regarding making the public version as realistic as possible. Cheers
@the-chowi & @FrederikLenius have successfully appealed their bins and I’ve updated the instabins post accordingly.
I am now (finally) working on the poll which should be out tomorrow night if all goes well, so if you were binned but you think you deserve to be in it, then the clock is ticking! Beware, there are different measurements for GT and LMH, so don’t get mixed up

After the bins, we’re left with 8 and 9 cars in GTE and LMH, respectively - or is it the other way around? Anyway, back in the 1990s, this would have been enough for an arcade, PC, or home console game themed around Le Mans (and/or whatever series these cars’ equivalents were also entered in - between the collapse of the World Sportscar Championship in 1992 and the establishment of the World Endurance Championship in 2010, there were no unified global championships for prototype racers, and it would not be until 2011 that the WEC, then known as the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup, finally added the 24 Hours of Le Mans to its schedule, with the race not being part of any series whatsoever during the intervening years, instead being a one-off stand-alone event).
Ladies and gentlemen, do you have the confidence to get a high ranking? I think the LMDH first place has already been decided.

A well-deserved congratulations to all the podium finishers and a big thank you to everyone for participating, whether you entered, voted, or both. I wasn’t sure if such an event would be successful, but I think it went quite well even with some hiccups along the way.
I’m planning to run more rounds of this challenge in the future with different themes, so do let me know what you’d like to see next and what I can improve on for the future.
But that's for another time. ROC still isn't done yet...
Just like the AGC23 finale, I’m going to write up an in-universe article (or maybe two) for ROC.
However, since exams are coming up for me, don’t expect it to be coming so soon. Most likely in a month or so.
In the meantime, I need some additional info for fleshing out the lore. Podium finishers, please send me the:
- Full team name
- Full driver lineup with names and nationalities
- Any additional lore you’d like to add regarding race operations, company/team history at Le Mans, etc.
The rest can decide how you ended up in your finishing place. Did your driver make a costly mistake and spin out whilst they were in a good position? Did they make contact with another competitor? Or was the car stricken by mechanical failure, necessitating several laps spent fixing it in the garage? You decide (if you wanna be included).
See you in the next one.
