[RESULTS POSTED!] 4 Cylinders 4 Fun: A Local Short Track Racing Challenge!

The final few rules added today:

Race version
Tires

  • Added new rule that the outer edges of the tires must be visually aligned as closely as possible
  • Set max. tire diameter to 590mm

Suspension

  • Clarified that any alignment settings are fine to use

And with that, the rules are now frozen! If you have any requests for clarification, please shoot me a DM. But if you see a gap in the rules and think it would work to your advantage, go for it lol because that’s what people do in real life.

As a reminder, submissions open tomorrow at 12pm US Central; I’m just freezing the rules right now to give you extra time to get your cars set up how you want them. Have fun!

We’re now open for entries! Have fun!

Also, a bit of advice for you guys: I would advise setting the race car’s model year to 2010 so everyone has equal tires

is this too tuned or modded or should i go for the regular body but repainted and stuff

Use the stock version please

alright, are body mods allowed though from the stock?

There’s a list of allowed modifications under the “Required and optional modifications” section of the race car’s rules list. Anything not on either the “Required interior elements,” “Required exterior mods,” or “Optional exterior mods” lists is not allowed. This is why a stock version is needed: so I can determine what the stock version looks like versus the race version

id really love it if the cost for the car could be bumped up to 15k, i can only get it down to 13.5k and this is while most stuff is the bare minimum

nevermind got it to 12k

making the car’s

Oh Lord, the tech officials would have a heart attack with the bull horns XD As for tire width, I’ll give you a pass on that

alright, i put a bolt and a nut on each side of the hood, is that close enough to hood pins

Sure!

I’ve gone back and expressly stated that exceptions to minimum tire size can be granted if the body can’t fit tires wide enough to meet the minimum

Clarification on exactly how I’ll be running the hotlap test:

  • I’ll be exporting your race car and driving it myself
  • Each car will have time to warm up in the pits so it’s not running cold and blowing smoke during the run when it usually wouldn’t
  • The runs will be done with a rolling start to ensure each car gets five full at-speed laps in
  • Smoke only becomes a problem if it’s blowing smoke at race speed
  • Excessive smoke at speed and once warmed up is grounds for a disqualification

I was going to repurpose one of my old builds for this challenge when I realized it’s on the open beta version. If anyone is looking for a starter shell to build off of, let me know. Wheelbase is 2.4m. Some visual stuff will obviously have to be changed to fit the current rules, and mechanicals are WAY off, but it could be a starting point for someone:

Also not sure if anyone has tried to import a car from stable into the beta version. Might not even work anyways, but if anyone wants to try let me know.

Shame, that’s an awesome build

Anything carried over from the current stable release into the open beta is guaranteed to need significant revisions to be viable in the new version - if the base body set is still available at all there.
