In this latest generation of Rigel vehicles, our company has been present and committed to all those workers who spend most of their working day on the road. For this same reason, the Spanish company has developed in each of the models that it will manufacture since 1998 vehicles designed exclusively for the taxi services sector, police vehicles, etc… These vehicles will be manufactured with the highest technology and the greatest comfort.

These vehicles will require unique characteristics for the performance of each service, whether it is the transport of passengers or the rapid action of a police vehicle.

With service vehicles comes exclusively the conversion of diesel engines to liquefied petroleum gas. The 2.0 D3CR engine will now be less polluting and will offer reduced consumption, perfect for companies and our environment.

All models will sign a new green logo alluding to the gas versions. LPG tanks will be placed safely in the trunk.

FurGO! Combi 1998

After years of success with the FurGO! work van, which was launched in 1996, now 2 years later its tourism version has arrived in Europe, America and Asia, to combine leisure with work.

The new model is called “Combi” and will be available in a wide variety of versions and engines that will suit all customers. To get an idea, we can enjoy a van with up to 9 occupants, with 4x4 versions up to sportier models with premium interiors for executive meetings.

The van is based on the FurGO! paneled, the side windows are enlarged and a folding tailgate is placed, in the tourism style. The Combi is designed to have a more comfortable response and a curve that is more similar to a car than a van, therefore, both its chassis and suspensions change with respect to the work panel version.

Versions, engines and prices.

Traveller version: Base model and the most economical of the entire range of combi vans. It is the clear example of the perfect combination of work and leisure. Its name “Mixed” refers to its rear part that is not glazed and is specific for the heaviest load of your work, field or trunk for everything you need to carry.

New Rigel ITOKO 1998

In 1998 Rigel launched a revolutionary car for his own company on the market, the first time that the brand would create a micro concept. It is a vehicle 3.03 meters long, two-seater and with more than enough space for daily purchases in its trunk. It is cheaply built for the middle and lower classes, as well as being designed as an ideal fashion accessory, being able to choose a wide variety of colors.

This car responds to the new urban mobility solution that Rigel presents for the busiest cities and especially pays attention to Asian markets, where there are more transit difficulties. We are especially talking about Japan, where the regulation of “kei” vehicles that are small vehicles with tax advantages. These have certain characteristics that must be met, such as a size of less than 3.4 meters and a maximum displacement of 660cc.

The car will be sold in Europe, Asia and North America, it will be designed for a public that wants to be fashionable, use little gasoline and be able to park in the center of the city with style. The best-selling model of the Spanish brand, the Rigel Tinto continues to grow and increase the family to arrive in 1999 loaded with novelties, as well as new variants, engines and colors. In these first two years of sales in Europe, we have been able to enjoy up to 5 different versions, from the simplest to the most sporty.

To end the millennium and begin the 2000s, Tinto renews its entire range of engines, now including remodeling that improves performance, as well as consumption in both gasoline and diesel engines. Introducing for the first time LPG engines with low fuel consumption.

Important changes

The future: Liftbacks and sedans?

The challenges posed by the new millennium (year 2000) in terms of design can be overwhelming to know what the public will want in the coming years. At the beginning of the 2000s, the minivan and family car trend was going to spread to all brands, so, is it logical to create a comfortable and powerful sedan?

From Rigel and Dagel we are strongly committed to the landing of new sedans and Liftbacks for the coming years, which will be the flagship of our brands. A symbiosis between comfort and prestige. With new engines of up to five and six cylinders fed by turbo diesel and bordering on the highest prestige.

The sister projects of Rigel and Dagel have been launched and it is a well-oiled cog and powerful machine coming soon to market.

Rigel’s new sedan will be called “Colombino” and it has already devoured thousands of kilometers in its test stages and this has been verified by those curious who have photographed it touring the European streets.

Rigel Colombino: Versions and prices

Inicio: The Inicio trim includes standard features such as air conditioning, basic audio system, cloth seats, power windows, central locking, and power steering. I must say that you have managed to nail the time period very well with the Colombino. I see traces of both Vectra, Laguna, Volvo S/V40 and first gen Saab 9-3 in it, yet it really manages to stand out as a design on its own. Nice!

A Colombino V6 would have been a more practical leftfield alternative to an M3 E46 of the same vintage - even though it would not necessarily have been a better driver’s car.

By the way, the Colombino line is based on the Algernon mod body set (2.7m wheelbase) if I’m not mistaken.
