TINTO, Final Edition
Seven years of success for the Spanish company Rigel and the best-selling model of the brand (to date), in this year 1996 a very special version is launched to end and close the Tinto mk1 cycle. This edition will have a new night black color, alloy wheels and some golden touches on its bumpers, it will also mount a large equipment package at a very contained price.
This great travel companion was the beginning of the best-seller for the Spanish brand in Europe and for this reason, it is necessary to say goodbye to him in a big way. This last year we will be able to have the final edition of the Tinto at dealers throughout Europe and to commemorate this final launch, it will integrate the new latest-generation G4 16-valve 100hp gasoline engine.
Until the beginning of 1997 Rigel is going to carry out the complete cleaning of its stock and deliver the last units of the Tinto on request, it is a special opportunity to take advantage of a great discount and have a tireless car.
Thanks for all Tinto!
Images for the preview of the next Rigel Tinto MK2, it will soon be presented at a European level.
I’m sure you’ve heard this numerous times now, but hot damn do your cars look authentic. Can’t help but feel ashamed when I look at my stuff lol.
These designs are most excellent!
Thank you very much for the positive comments, it makes me want to continue creating new models! You can try all the cars in the links for BeamNG Drive.
Greetings!
Hybrid Pizarro: in 1997 Rigel launched a very special version of its versatile 4x4 onto the European market, which will have a new hybrid engine.
The new hybrid model will have a three-cylinder engine completely made of high-tech aluminum and a 20-horsepower electric motor coupled to the front axle and assisted by an electrical control unit. After years of development, research and testing at Rigel Trës, the hybrid finish is coming to the European market in serial production, which will be marketed in pearl white and electric hybrid blue (the one in the images).
The three-cylinder engine has 72 horsepower and will be assisted by the small 20-horsepower electric motor. This electric motor will have two important functions, the first is to assist the gasoline engine by delivering greater power and torque in situations of need, such as long climbs or greater efforts. Its second function will be to be able to start the march completely electrically and without noise, being able to make our parking lots without spending a penny on gasoline.
The hybrid configuration will always be accompanied by a 5-speed gearbox.
Inside we will notice the addition of a new screen with basic information about the status of the battery and its operation, this new screen will be located above the center console. On the screen we will find four buttons that will change the driving modes and therefore the use of the battery, on it, through some very simple logos, it will indicate the percentage of charge and use in real time, being able to choose between an Eco mode or Power.
The use of the new all-aluminum three-cylinder model and the use of the hybrid battery will ensure a consumption figure below five liters per km.
RIGEL TINTO MK2 (1997)
After 7 years of success for the European brand and a notable sales figure in the national territory, Rigel unveiled in 1997 the second generation of its C-segment compact, the Rigel Tinto. The model has grown in interior quality with a new and redesigned cabin, on the outside it has received an image wash more in keeping with the 2000s and improving its aerodynamic coefficient with an arrowhead-shaped front instead of a straight one.
The model will be available in 5 different versions, from the cheapest “young”, through sports models not seen in the previous model and even a simple version of a hybrid engine seen in the Pizarro 2 SUV.
The dynamism of the Tinto has been increased with the implementation of a new type of suspension that provides the model with correct cornering but without reducing comfort for its passengers, also in the safety section it is increased with a new belt that surrounds completely the car in its central part creating a safer passenger compartment, the standard placement of double front airbags and ABS among others.
The three-door versions play a leading role in this generation.
Trims
Young: It is the access model to the range, as in its predecessor version, it has the essential accessories to create the most practical vehicle in the city and to be able to comfortably transport five occupants, without great luxuries but with ABS, electric power steering and dual front airbags. You will be able to count on a 78 horsepower 1.4 gasoline engine and a 65 horsepower 1.6 diesel.
Business: El Tinto recovers its famous “business turbodiesel” nomenclature in this new generation, in this case it is a model aimed at business fleets that provides the greatest comfort at the lowest price. It will only mount a 2-liter turbo Diesel engine and 90 horsepower. Being able to choose basic colors such as white, gray or black, it may also be available for sale to individuals.
Sensación: The mid-range model will have several extras such as a sunroof, 16-inch alloy wheels or a mixed fabric and leather interior in aqua green. Thus completing the model we find bumpers in body color, fog lights and the provision of a rain sensor with automatic wipers and cruise control. In the Sensación variant we can include 2-liter 90 horsepower diesel engines and 90 hp 1.6 gasoline engines.
Hybrid: a very special model for the brand, a high commitment is made to place hybrid engines in Europe. This hybrid engine will have a renovated three-cylinder engine made entirely of aluminum with 72 CV and a battery and an electric motor with a power of 20 horsepower will be added to it. The operation is the same as seen in the previous section with the Pizarro 2.
GTRS: to culminate the Tinto range in this generation we can find the Gran Turismo Rigel Sport, which will have the new G4 16-valve engine with double overhead camshafts and 155 horsepower. New lowered suspensions and specialized springs for sports competition, 16-inch wheels and an exclusive leather interior in red tones and plastics in the same colors.

RIGEL TINTO X (1997)
The TINTO X is the first crossover of the European brand and raises it under the same platform as the Rigel Tinto mk2, mixing asphalt and Off Road. A vehicle exclusively designed to combine in a practical and sporty way the two worlds that fascinate us so much, on the one hand sportsmanship on asphalt, and on the other to overcome obstacles on the ground and get into muddy areas.
The X has been built on the same platform as the TINTO mk2, but its chassis has been modified from the B-pillar, we are talking about a three-door vehicle with a flat tailgate imitating rancheras or family vehicles. The new C-pillar gives the vehicle a very country and practical look by having a large access mouth to the tailgate and being able to load a large number of objects.
Inside, we still have a spacious five-seater despite its three-door character.
Main features:
A high driving height that gives it dynamism off-road and allows the vehicle to roll freely between potholes or muddy areas without major complications.
The placement of a 4x4 system that will give the vehicle a marked off-road character, very practical for its real use off the asphalt, will not mount a reducer.
robust look thanks to its new wheel arches, robust plastic sills and new rear and front bumpers made of a highly resistant plastic material, which will mean that receiving impacts in the field will not result in dents or chips in the paint.
Robust and aggressive on the outside, but refined and welcoming on the inside, the interior will collect its occupants, providing all the safety of its standard airbags, ABS and the comfort of elements such as electric power steering or a latest generation CD.
Trims and Engines
URBAN: The simplest finish that will mount only front wheel drive, ABS as standard, electric steering, central locking, double front airbag, an exterior look package in robust plastic and in short, a vehicle that will perfectly combine a country look with urban practicality.
4XDRIVE: For the most adventurous and those who want to go further, this model will have four-wheel drive and combined with its new G3 and D3 engines will give it power to make off-road getaways and reach places where others cannot.
At the release date, the model will have only three engines, two latest-generation gasolines with 90 and 115 horsepower and a single 2-liter 90 HP Diesel engine.
It is not ruled out in future years to expand the range within Europe to better adapt to the needs on demand that may exist.
OOOH! That fits perfectly with the idea that’s been lurking in my mind for a long time by now - some thread presenting Automationverse cars from the same segments, so we could have in-universe reference points outside of challenges. Galleries with some basic data (like size, rough price range, engines, intended market or sth like that).
Reminds me a little of a Rover Streetwise - a relatively old platform, and there has got to be a better way than selling it than a low price - so with some creativity, old clunkers (even with it’s large facelift, the Tinto is one of the older cars on the market) turn into unique fun mobiles for the masses. There you go - Rigel doesn’t have real competition for this car.

New challenges, factories and partners.
By the end of 1997, the winds of prosperity were blowing for the Spanish company Rigel, which from this year will have a great partner for the development of its future engines and international cooperation for the continuation and creation of new projects that include new market areas not explored until now.
The integration into the European “Performance” brand will mean a great advance in the design and improvement of both gasoline and diesel engines. This group has a wealth of experience in engine development and will become an essential and key partner in the development of future fossil fuel powertrains that will be sold around the world. Until now, the vehicles will be sold as Rigel and Performance engines, only changing a badge on the tailgates of the vehicles, which will indicate that these engines have been redesigned and improved by the aforementioned group. These new ranges of engines are more efficient, using high-design parts, which will lower costs and adapt to the new Euro regulations on pollution.
In this way, a new stage opens both in engines and in design, since it will allow the European brand to explore new markets and it is doing so with new and exciting projects which we show you below:
To adapt the new international marketing strategy by the Spanish company, two new factories in Europe have been purchased. The first is located in Madrid, which will be in charge of manufacturing the new engines and expanding the manufacturing of existing vehicles, all to ease the overload that currently exists in the factories in Seville and Kansas. In the background, the purchase and restructuring of the old FSO-Daewoo facilities in Poland, which will allow the expansion of the range and the manufacture of new vehicles that are sold inside and outside Europe.
This week we launched the brand’s new minivan, the RIgel Ruta.
