I found that the seats choices are restrictive and messy in the lua file of the car bodies. Maybe it can changed to a slider instead of options, and the “seat options” tab in the lua file can be changed to “max seats available” so that we can make single seaters (oh, sorry, i mean single seated touring cars ) and the car body artists do not need to type in each options in the lua files?
Wouldn’t that require the number of seats being hard-coded into the UI? That would then mean the modders would have less freedom designing cars. If you want single seaters, just tweak the LUA. … I do.
(disclaimer: I do not use edited LUA’s outside of my house)
I may be wrong.
Maybe i should make it clear. What i am saying is, in the lua file of the base car body (the one inside the gamedata folder in your automation directory), you will see one of this:
SeatOptions = {
4,
5
},
and I suggest changing this to
MaxSeat = 5 (Which the 3d car body artist can still type in the maximum numbers of seat they want)
and make the seat options in the game ui to become a slider, and let us the car company R&D department to make not just a track day hot hatch like Mini JCW GP, but also can let us make real touring car, that make much more senses for community competitions like touring car championship, or like BRC, since these competitions do not allow you to tweak the lua file…
Just realised that would still create an “issue”. You could design a 3 seat sedan. Not impossible, just… really impractical.
I really don’t see how this would change anything, all (at least somewhat) reasonable seat options are available already for production vehicles. The list of seat options doesn’t limit the choices as is, hence making a slider out of it doesn’t make sense. Just mod the cars if you want non-conventional seating options.
Something to also point out is that since Automation is about running a profitable car company, most of your products won’t have just one seat. Besides, there are plenty of modded car bodies out there that can feature one seat anyway.
