because that car literally is the definition of Indonesian 90’s :stuck_out_tongue:

its VERY reliable, quite cheap, good safety for that era standard, decent perfomance, and the most important is very-very versatile vehicle. there no modern car that can match 2nd gen boxy Kijang and that video is pretty well deserved tribute for Kijang

uhh… the suzuki carry came close. but then outlived it…

That is the one Asian car which is “universally” legendary

blame Toyota domination, beside Kijang have a lot variant varry from offroad car, premium-ish wagon to commercial car while Carry pretty much only remembered family van or delivery truck/van and of course Kijang won the price war IIRC

someone had to built a kit car
ae86 + modern tech

why am i surprised by this?

Introducing Toyota Truneo (ZAE12), as an attempt to revive the old glory of of AE86 coupe and the 86 plan isn’t quite succesful we propose a different approach to satisfy the market with with oversquare 1.9L I4 engine coded 9AGE with VVTL-i that produced 245 Horsepower with over 7.7L/100Km fuel economy and still able to rev above 9500. For weight saving several body panel was replaced with aluminium instead steel, thought still noticeable heavier and bigger than the ZN6 chassis the Trueno still manage to get better power/weight ratio and reach 255Km/H on speed test with launch speed from 0-100km/h under 6 seconds.

Handling wise the suspsion was setting for quite agresive setting with help of low downforce for helping tackle corner, we still able optimize it for daily driving situation while able achieve satisfying track performance. Its also equiped with wider tyre with 235mm width on 17 inch alloy rims. Drivetrain wise is RWD equiped with geared LSD with standard feature driving assist. Interior was designed to be sporty and light as possible to enhance driving experience, we still able to get similar safety rating with 86 in this weight saving attempt.

overall the car should be priced around $22.000

Timor is more 90s IMHO.

^ that. and… wasn’t the minimum fuel requirement like 13km/l+ or something?

You tell me  V12 are the smoothest and more (maybe the most) important part… someone had to do it
