The Car Shopping Round (Round 64): Tears in Heaven

So we’re getting close to the deadline…who’s cars have you received? Just as a heads up for those who didn’t send or forgot to send one in.

Adenine has received your request for a fleet of new police vehicles for your city, and we think we have just the right vehicle for you. We have just introduced a brand new crossover, the Adenine Ambience, for the 2000 model year, and we’d like to offer a specially equipped police package for you.

First and foremost, the Adenine Ambience Utility Cruiser is spacious and versatile. It’s powered by a 3.8L twin-turbo V6 producing 351 horsepower. Coupled with AWD, the Utility Cruiser is perfect for hauling and towing all the equipment you will ever need. It can go 0-62 in 5.1 seconds, has a top speed of 155mph, and is even capable of occasional off-road duty if you need it.

But enough talk about specs. The most important element in any police force is the officer, not the car. That’s why we’ve ensured that your officers will be comfortable on their day-to-day patrols and will be safe when things get heated. We can offer the Utility Cruiser to your fleet at a cost of $14630 per car.

Mind if I ask what the running costs of that car are? What you’ve built is a dang good car there

What I’d like to know is when your turbos spool up. Being twin turbo, given the game parameters, it essentially takes twice as long to spool up as a single turbo, hence some user preference seen here to use an i6. For example, I’m struggling to get a 3.8L V6 to spool up anywhere before 2600rpm to get anywhere near as much power as yours (and that’s running a relatively rich fuel mixture), without dumping significant tech points into the engine. But using an i6, the power output will be less, but I’ve got my torque from 1800rpm (though I’m running an eco setup and only yield 230hp from a 3.1L engine).

how do i make a turbo spool early, i always make them spool up at 3000 rpm

small turbo and low boost limit

When phale pretty much makes your van but twice faster and with more drivability and utility

Oh well, panic mode time, I gotta decide whether to submit the 9900$ wagon with 44.5 mpg and 1500$ running costs instead.

Show me a 3.8L V6 twin turbo in tech year 2000 that yields 350bhp with a small turbo and low boost limit which spools up any earlier than 2600rpm and can get 22.5mpg in a 1500kg vehicle, and I’ll be quite impressed.

well i never said that i could make one did i? :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh shit lol sorry, for some reason I thought you were replying to my post and not lordvader’s.

I cannot forum :joy:

ahem, mine does, though it’s 325 hp, but i could get 350 with a little sacrifice in reliability

Well, did much of your extra costs go into the engine? Coz as it stands I’m cramming what I can into a budget of 14630, which appears to be where the bulk of the entries are aiming, and that tends to mean minimal tech points into the engine (though at a stretch you could and probably should put one into the fuel injection.)

My $14,520 has 3,3,0,6,3 in engine tech points.

Are there any tutorials (from the masters) on the various elements of car design? Like suspension, engine efficiency etc?

not much except, DAMN, that’s a lot of point into your engine.
but you REALLY should get your price to 14630 though. that’s the optimal point to replace 17 cars with the least amount of leftover budget

no quality sliders at all. none.

that extra price was me putting a 20% markup on by accident.

Hopefully will start slowly incoming soon.

oh yes LOL well given that it’s a 10% markup then your car would then cost 16390. Which is still an extra two grand… but if you didn’t put any tech sliders in your engine, then mind showing me your power curve? I’ve always had trouble getting decently early spool on the V6 twin turbos.

wat?
