THIS is sporty? Ahahahahah
It seems that while everyone is submitting a fancier Corolla, Passat or EVEN a 325i, I came with an Audi S6 squeezed in a budget
The budgetâs pretty tight not so much for money, but for engineering time. Much of it comes down to whether you will equip driving aids or not.
I equipped all possible, and my car is still sportier being within the limits (well, 760$ over the advised price, but I guess it could be justified for this car).
Is your comfort nearing the 50âs and drivability close to the 70âs though?
You can have that sportiness, alongside abg.
Iâll just take the drivability, comfort, reliability and economy.
(note: manual transmission, bigger engine and better tyres would go a long way to increasing sportiness. The manual transmission will also be more economical, especially in 1998, than an auto. The autoâs a pretty big decision in itself, actually.)
Ok, I admit, you beat me on economy and drivability, but barely on anything else
@ramthecowy Comfort about 45+, drivability 60.
I think we made a similar car⌠3.0 L6 turbo >155mph, 0-62 under 7s, <2:30 ATT
And now comes the question⌠How big is the car?
OH I see what you were looking at. That was an old build, and the sportiness in the suspension was purely because I wanted slightly sharper handling so it didnât feel like pure understeer. Nothing about actually making the car sporty, otherwise I would have gone with something turbo etc. etc. and hung the economy a bit, but as it is, Iâve got good economy for an NA and plan to keep it that way.
If anything my car is now more drivable and even less sporty because I switched to FF Itâs a Leo round. Weâll just have to see how the math goes.
4.3 meters and <1350kg
Even the name tells everyone youâre ahead of the game. Youâre on a tight budget we know ,but you lust after a German saloon an Audi S6 or a 325i perhaps. However you may want to consider the French option.
This version the 2.6 lets others know youâre good at what you do without seeming over-lording. Little details such as the dual exhaust and bits of chrome trim set you apart from the riff raff, whilst keeping understated. The choice of colour (Bleu de Comet) instills a sense of authority without being vulgar.
The car is fitted with a comfy premium spec interior. This includes 4 electric windows , Dual zone Air-Con , electric mirrors , 5 leather seats and a dual speaker radio. So comfort is great and cruising is effortless even when you are going at 150mph. Also fitted with the full electric sunshine room for that extra class.
Do you know whatâs best about it all. The price!
Just $17680 !
Then mine is half a metre longer and not much less than half a ton heavier, with similar performance
Considering that I payed $17,000 for my little 4cyl pickup in early 99 with very little extra am/fm cassette and air conditioning. The price range is right along line with a fancy Corolla.
Which didnât stop me from making an S6 squeezed into budget
Sorry writing error I have actually used 5 seats in the build. I just wrote 4 accidentally. Oops.
