Amazing reviews, and the reaction images were excellent. Well done @AirJordan!
Thanks for an entertaining writeup koolkei. Iām going to update the next round and letās await AirJordanās rules.
As usual please specify the build to be used, whether itās open-beta, which seems to be the done thing now.
Iām very proud to be the chosen one for a luxurious challenge and congrats to other for making it tough. Thanks koolkei for nice reviews.
Nowā¦ on to the next one! This is going to be completely different.
The usuals first:
- Open beta
- Please name your cars like:
model: TCSR10 - yourname
trim: carās name
engine: TCSR10 - yourname
trim: engineās name - Dead line is 17.4.2016 at 12:00 (noon) GMT+1 (now whereās your calculatorā¦)
- Do NOT fiddle with factory tabs, letās stay at estimate prices
I, Mr. Jordan, am a successfully man (some dayā¦some day!) starting to make my dream come true. Dream garage.

restomodā¦soon
I want something special. Something with a character. It must look goodā¦really good. It must feel even better. Might be wild, maybe sportyā¦ or a piece of art.
If you do not know what is a restomod:
Restomod (restoration + modern parts/technology) draws from all the amazing advancements in automobile technology over the past 40+ years to enhance the performance, comfort and safety of the classic car. A restomod car has the timeless appearance of the original, but the outdated guts of the car have been replaced with the more modern, high-performance parts of today. You achieve the same great look, but your vintage car will be revved up with all the latest bells and whistles to create a much better ride for the owne
if youār still not sure, google: ICON, Singer, Alfaholicsā¦
Rules:
- Pick a body shape that is 1986 or older and than move the year back to 2016! Not just the trim year, model also.
- Year is 2016, nothing older will be acceptable
- Fuel 98-super (itās a car for special occasions so no consumption limit but stay real, I donāt want a leaking fuel tank)
- Cat is a must
- No double clutch paddle shifters, they have no space in resotmod.
- No semi slicks
- Safety basic or standard (I do not want to die but there is no point in having advanced one in restomod)
- in detail stats choose tiny factory! (you are only building car for me)
- Estimate price 80.000$ with 60% markup! (there is some Ā± margin so if you are 80120$ or sth, donāt sweat it)
- About cooling and reliability, just be realistic. If you think that itās ok for a car to overheat and brake down daily than I believe you, itās your story.
Hints:
No need to ask me what kind of car. Be creative. Make a story. You have many options. You can go crazy with the oldest body and put in pushrods and magnesium engine (although that would hardly be a restomod) or make a porshe replica with same characteristics as original but just make everything better and modern (thatās what Singer does and itās just porn on wheels). Just remember, I want to have a special vehicle with a character.
No worries with photoshop (and no market tabs), I will be much more interested in what you have to say about your car.
If I missed something let me know to edit that post. May the odds be ever in your favour.
EDIT: I do support mods but Iām not sure if Iāve got them all. So you either play it safe and use only HQ ones or you risk a really fast revision (if you submit well before deadline of course).
**EDIT2:**What are other options with the model you presented doesnāt mean a thing (there are countless, but you can still stick it in for the story). I will evaluate only the car I will get.
YES now weāre cooking WITH GAS.
This round marks a sharp departure from the slew of modern cars and into something a bit more lateral. With it naturally comes more caveats with regards to price estimation etc. and the market tab will be completely useless here, so I would not require people to post any screenshots of that part at all.
17th of Mayā¦or did your finger slip off the 4 (for April)?
Thanks!
I wanted do do this for a quite some time now with all eco-challengesā¦
Also I added gearbox rule.
Does it HAVE to have 80% markup, or can it just be around 80,000?
It has to be 80% or more. You are building a complete custom one of car, from a shell you bought. So it makes no sense to have 10% markup. Maybe 80% is too much but if I would lower that, price would go down as well. So it stays. I think there is still a lot you can do for that amount.
Also I added note about cooling and reliability.
Right, Letās make a new car then!
ONWARD!!!
Iām loving this idea!
This is a great idea for a challenge! Canāt wait to make this car.
My First Build was going to be a Modern Re-creation of the RAVEN MkII, but was far too expensive (about 63,000 before markup.)
Time to make something customā¦
Or a V6 911ā¦
Because I want you really give it your best, I will lower only the markup to 60%.
Are you looking for a masterclass rework of an old legend? Look no further than VBR! Here today we are show casing to you, the VBR 911 āTiger.ā
##What sets the tiger apart from other 911 restomods?
The Tiger is made entirely from aluminium. The Engine has been replaced from the old boxer, to a newer 2L V6, with around 185hp. That doesnāt sound like much, but when the vehicle only weighs a smidgen over 1000kg, it is more than enough to send it to over 220kp/h. Many companies throw power at these things, but we said NO!
##What is the Tiger like to drive?
The Tiger, despite its rear-engine, rear-driven set up, is more controllable and more straightforward then all other 911 restomods. The Size of the rear wheels, 265mm, do help with keeping wheelspin down, significantly. The Front wheels, 195mm, are small enough to counteract any force, but large enough to keep oversteer from happening too much.
##How Customizable is the Tiger?
Well, this display model is the Middle of the line spec. Our other models are the increased ones. When you buy a VBR 911, you can either buy a premade kit, or design and build your own.
##Why not a Singer 911?
The Singers are great and all, but our 911ās are based on the 1970s generations. We can either re-create a spec from the 70s, or make one to your liking, using 70s Turbo Tech!
##Well, what does the Tiger Look like?
It was about time you asked!!!
Painted in either a Matte, Metallic, or Gloss Orange, the Tiger is the sure to capture the attention of others.
The Front end is lifted straight from the 70s. With our Models, we donāt want to ruin the lines, so very few vents and grills are placed onto the body. Engine cooling is attributed to the single grill on the boot, and brake cooling comes Via the Front Grill, and the two small vents on the side.
Come and buy your VBR 911 āTigerā today for $79,550.
So, Now out of Sales mode and into OOC mode.
This is the most driveable Rear Engine car I have ever made (It is more Driveable than most of my normal front or mid engined cars )
Also the Mark-up is RIDICULOUS! It is about 360% mark-up.
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!
How much does comfort matter to you? I always seem to mess up with sports cars, which mine very much is, by choosing the wrong interior setting so I would like to know what sort of comfort youre looking for.
Well, at Storm Automotive, weāre not all that well-known for custom cars. We can do it, certainly, but itās not our specialty.
So when we got a phone call during business hours about wanting somethingā¦ uniqueā¦ Well, letās just say you should be glad Luke picked up the phone.
You see, he has a personal car much like this, but with a lot more money thrown at it. But, his is a four door, yours, howeverā¦
Is a convertible.
Now, first thing youāre likely to notice is the WWII fighter-plane inspired vents on the sides of the engine bay. Thereās a very good reason for those. Inside the engine compartment, thereās a massive V12 engine.
Inside the car, weāve given you all leather seats for four and a good, high-quality radio. Gauges are all analog, and aviation inspired. Despite the large steering wheel, you do have power steering, as well as ABS. Sheās a little heavy, but the whole car is aluminum, for that fighter-plane feeling.
If you donāt like black, you can order a new paint color.
Headlights are individual ultra-high-power LED bulbs mounted in retro-styled reflectors and firing through real glass.
The rims are magnesium, 20", with big wide rear tires to put the horsepower to the ground. A 6-speed stick is your claim to fame at controlling a 1400+ horsepower 16 liter V12.
Speaking of the V12, the block and head are AlSi construction for light weight. Fuel is fed to the monster through an all-mechanical fuel injection unit, much like the ones from the old days. Why? Because nothing else would fit.
At the flip of a switch, you have exhaust cutouts to bypass the straight-through mufflers (two per side) while still blowing through the 3-way high-flow performance catalytic converter.
Now, you may be asking yourself, āWhy would Storm Automotive not include turbochargers?ā Simple answer: they wouldnāt fit, or we would have done so.
Also, this monster is only rear wheel drive. We feel that if youāre going to drive something with a prototype airplane engine, you should experience it through the right set of wheels. Totally doesnāt have anything to do with the fact that we couldnāt fit the transfer case and front diff. Wasnāt that at allā¦
Tail-lights are retro-styled, but have high-power LEDās behind them, so they should always work.
There is no trunk. Sorry. Between the gas tank and the top, thereās no room for cargo, so we bolted a wing on to help with performance instead.
We hope you enjoy driving the Streetfighter as much as we enjoyed building it.
I knew someone would do a 16L V12! Now someone should do a 2000HP turbocharged V12ā¦
Way ahead of you
The hard part of going 16L V12 is that thereās not many bodies that can fit such a monster. But, Iāve found this 50ās sedan to be excellent for it. If youāre not opposed to race intakes, you can use DFI (Iāve done it before for the mentioned āsecond carā in that post), but MFI with TPC Performance will fit.
I wanted to keep the streetable nature of it, to have an air filter on this monster motor, which is why Iāve got mechanical fuel injection on the beast.
