The Car Shopping Round (Round 64): Tears in Heaven

be like me and go with a 3.3L i4 :joy:

nah. i seriously may consider the phyton. but not with 3.3L

I contemplated a certain 3.6L I4, but ultimately decided that making a Storm AWD beast was the wrong move. Might’ve made for a hell of a wild-card if I decided a certain 1000 horsepower I4 made it into a car, but… One, it’s a thirsty beast, and two, light-switch turbos are bad for drivability, and while I could make something sporty with that engine, it’d be much harder to make it anything other than a death-trap.

That, and I’ve wanted to make a mid-engine car for a little while, so this worked in my favor.

The Phyton is a scary car, though, when used effectively, in all of the various versions it has.

I was also contemplating a mid-engined car for this round, but ultimately chose not to enter it because at the very last minute, I realized that it was much more expensive (and slower!) than the front-engined coupe that I ended up submitting - and it turned out not to be much heavier as well. Oh well, having already built it, at least I get a chance to show it in the thread for open source cars…

I’ll probably be entering a MR, but now I’ll have to try one FR at least.

I’m here again! yesterday the Geneva motor show was awesome!
here’s no penalty to using 91RON fuel right? because lore…

it’s a global car that can run on most fuel…
No penality for using lower RON fuel.

That’s a typo i now how to write correctly “vehicle” I’ve more problems with long and articulated phrases, i have to improve my english because in real life i haven’t finished emgineering yet, and english it’s one of the exams that i have to pass.

Presenting the entrant from Erin to this round of the CSR…

#The Erin Nardella X 2.0
13ft of pure British sports car. Exclusively built at our X Department Specialist Production Plant in Nottingham, UK, the Nardella is an all-aluminium 2 door coupe that was born to be blasted down empty country roads on a Sunday afternoon.

Light, nimble and agile, this top of the range X trim model features a 2.0l N/A i4 engine that produces 214hp, meaning it’s good for 0-60 in 5.7 seconds and a top speed of 155 mph. A LSD at the rear keeps the wheels in check, while performance suspension parts and just-skinny-enough wheels mean it handles like a dream.

It’s yours for $20618.

When you say no carbon fibre, does that mean no carbon-ceramic brakes?
EDIT; well im hoping not

General Industries Savant Cabriolet '16

Yes, last time we saw this was last round with a gaudy purple trim where some annoying teenager said that “(she) didnt want to catch poor”

Well it’s back this round with a more powerful engine, producing 198hp from a 2.0L i4 N/A, and better interior.

Conan S47 2016 Technical Update.

12th January 2016

A press release detailing technical update for the small, rear wheel drive Conan was out today.

Conan S47, as the name suggested, is the 7th generation of the long running “S4” series Conan. Introduced in 2013, it was nicknamed “Berlin” by the fan from the debut TV advertisement which was filmed in East Berlin. The car is a popular alternative to the small Carlotta UX176 and Bavaria UWOT20/21.

For the 2016 update, due to fuel economy and emission regulation. The base engine is now a 1.5 litre 3 cylinder engine. Dubbed the 1500 Earthline. As you’d expected having been lifted from the smaller C25 and C37. It’s a very modern, robust, and direct injected unit offering up to 150hp in both naturally aspirated and turbocharged trim.

Other is the completely new infotainment unit, it’s based on a popular platform that’s available in pretty much every car there is on the market right now. Along with the slight update in the bumper design. Apart from that there are other deeper changes. It’s interesting when Conan explicitly announced that the car has been thoroughly made more robust. With changes in both mechanical, and electrical system within the car. Previous S47 have been found to be extremely reliable as it was. So we have absolutely no idea what sort of nuclear bomb would be needed to kill the updated one. I would expected a huge one.

The most interesting thing about this update, however. Is the introduction of a new model, a model that harked back to the past long gone. That’s right, my man, the 2000 GT is back.

First debut in 1970 on the S42 “Box” model. The 2000 GT was introduced with one goal, and one goal only. As a homologation for Group 1, 2 and 3 racing. These S4 had twin carbs, hot cam and sporty suspension. It was not such a huge success then, but it’s a classic now, and they did made enough to satisfy the regulation. However, even if they didn’t make much of a profit from it, they keep on making them. But then in 1980, when the S44 “Euro” was introduced. Conan instead focused it’s racing on Group 4 Rally Category. The result was the four wheel drive 2200 GT-T4. That was a great car in it’s own right. But something was missing.

As great as the 2200 GT-T4 was, the sporty 4 cylinder S4 series was getting more high-tech and complicated. With computers, four wheel drive and turbocharging. They did eventually put out the naturally aspirated 4000 GT with the 1993 S45, but that was more of a comfortable cruiser than a highly strung sport saloon. Something was missing indeed.

So, for 2016. Conan decided to bring the 2000 GT model back. And as per usual, it’s based on the 2000 L model. But with many tweaks.

The engine is still the Surrey 5V unit. 4 cylinder, 2-litre, big bore, short stroke. This massively over squared engine is well loved by enthusiasts out there for it’s great characteristic. There’s nothing else like revving a Surrey 2-litre up to 6000rpm and above. But this engine obviously been tweaked. Massively tweaked. And you’d be glad to hear that it’s been old fashioned tuned.

Cylinder head, camshaft, inlet manifold. All of these have been replaced. It’s a naturally aspirated engine. The internals have been assembled with thought about how each component effect the engine rev happiness, within reasons. Each crankshaft is balanced. Although not quite a billet crank of the more expensive 2000 GT-T4. With 70.4mm stroke, this engine revs up to 9000rpm. And the scream at that sort of RPM is crazy. The 2000 GT also carry a unique exhaust system that sound a lot like that of racing 1970 S42 2000 GT.

I’ll admit, According to Conan, it only produce 200hp. But numbers are totally not the point of this car. Even though 0-100km/h of 5.9 seconds and top speed of 240km/h is nothing to scoff at.

The suspension is also tweaked, classically. The springs and dampers are normal, there’s no electronic magnetic dampers or anything like that here. And even then, it still drives magnificently, and the ride isn’t too bad either.

The 2000 GT interior hasn’t been change a bit from the lowly 2000 L. And standard equipment is indeed, quite terrible. You’d be lucky to have the same simple infotainment system as the L. That’s not to say it is a bad place to be. As the normal 2000 L is already quite a quality piece. And if you really wish, you can add the options back. But that’s not the point of this car is it? The 2000 GT should be exactly this, a bare bone, highly strung, street/track racer.

That, and it lower the price considerably. Starting at 20,000$. Which is only slightly more than the 2000 L. Adding the options could be expensive. You can spend basically TWICE the base price. That is indeed, a bit pointless. But would be rather cool as a 2028 used model.

All other updates will also be applied to other model such as the normal 2000, the 6-Cylinder, and the 4000 GT V8.

The 1500 L for secretary, and 2000 GT for enthusiast. Conan pretty much have cover all the bases with the 2016 S47.

I am loving these 60s/70s style names. Might even have to reintroduce them for my company - 2000 GT is way cooler than ‘2.0 L’ or what have you

for this challenge, we from ApoInf car company gmbh, short ACC, have though that it would be best if we make a small roadster which is rwd, fwd is hatchbacks.

the car is not that special, is has a 1.6 liter straight 4 engine that makes around 200HP, with a direct injection intake, and 5 valves per cylinder, the ditched the standard 4 valves per cylinder and vvt.
the engine can safely rev to 9000 rpm, with a modified ecu it could rev to 10000 rpm but warranty is void.

for the transmission it’s a simple manual 6 speed, and a electronical lsd differential. the wheels are hard long life wheels with 17 inch alloy rims.

to make the car more pure driving, you only get ABS and Powered Steering, all other electronical aids are not included. to save weight we put standard interrior and infotainment in the car.

if you now thing that you pay more for less, thats not the truth. all this costs you around 15k-16k

-facts
-all its body panels are made from aluminium while the chassis is corrorion resistant steel
-its weight is around 1100 KG
-5 year warranty
