The Car Shopping Round (Round 64): Tears in Heaven

are you guys making track monsters?

i’m struggling to make it down to 2mins

A car that goes 1:50 in the track is probably the same as an Evo VIII

Yeah, but the track in the game seems to have an exaggerated turn 9, which usually can be taken at full throttle irl from what I’ve seen, so easily 2+ seconds are lost there in Automation.

I’m trying to make sensible trackday cars and so far i have a small FR @ 225 bhp doing 1:59’s
and a '96 F-AWD @ 420 hp doing 1:53’s :expressionless:

Still think i’m going w the FR one, tho

Nowhere near it, I was focusing on sub 300bhp lightweight things, or sports tourers with standard entertainment, so was more content to go along at 1:58-1:59.

But 1:50, hot damn, makes me wonder how much more I should be pushing in what direction.

Cat required?

Would like to drive it to the track, so yes.

Good to hear all that, now I feel a little more confident, I spent 1h just to tune the suspension to achieve this time :relieved:

I got my car to set a lap time in the low 1 min 58s - but tuned the suspension to ensure endless fun, with a sporty balance.

201hp. 2:01.97 yeah. the problem is not the cornering speed. it’s just the power

Such a good feeling.

But we all know that someone (@strop) is going to make a Soapbox Kart that’ll do the course in 1:40(ish), only have 3 wheels and is driven by Kai’s hamster…which is dead!

I’ll try a 2.0 Ecoboost later to see what I can do with 240hp, since the N/A drinks way too much.

yeah i’ll sit here nicely with my reasonably economical, reasonably fast (2:00.5), reasonably aged, reasonably useful and practical, reasonably light, reasonably priced, reasonably powered and reasonably reasonable reason to build a reasonably reasonable car.

We’ll see here I am actually doing something pretty reasonable. Most of my test builds are currently selling for 6-11 grand so I do have heaps of room to move.

I’ve decided not to smart it after all. So now I decide whether to use the not Scighera or the not 911.

NEWSFLASH…GGs entry has been seen in testing…Kai’s hamster looks bigger, and more alive, than I remember!

People…FTi are getting worried…
