a random idea poped up in my head - what about lists/charts/competitions between player companies, not making copies of real ones but making the player beat the player and all happening in real time, would make the game a bit more fun in my opinion 
Not quite sure what you mean, there will be competing companies that you’ll be fighting for market share and trying to make better cars than of course, otherwise it wouldn’t be a business game. Was there something more I missed?
I think he does not mean computer-companies but real-player companies which compete.
