Tiny fixture suggestion

I’ve been looking at cars as I walk up and down the street for inspiration, and I noticed that a lot of cars* have red side rear indicator lights.

* Worldbuilding note: in the US, vehicles are required to have front and rear turn signals visible from the side as well. Many cars will have headlights or taillights that wrap around the corner of the car to serve this purpose; ones that do not will have separate indicator lights on the side.

Right now, of the styles of indicator lights, most come only in yellow and one comes only in yellow or white. I think it would be really nice to have every style available in all three colors.

Thanks again for making such an awesome game!

Only the US have red as a legal Turn signal color.

As above. All turn indicator lights must be amber in almost every other country (UN Regulations).

The United States and Canada do not recognise said regulations. This causes headaches for car manufacturers, who tend to not bother with the US market despite existing demand (particularly for Euro-market hatchbacks).

From a technical POV this would be very easy to do, so I don’t really see why not.

The thing is this is NOT a turn indicator on the rear, is is ONLY a marker light, it only lights up when the headlights are on, same as the orange ones in the front (which you Europeans dont use for running lights, you use those little bulbs inside the headlights). It is also serves double duty as the side “reflector” for when the car is parked, that way you can identify the back end of the car from the side when your lights hit it. Also I too would like to see this added, I posted in the 3D artist forum but got nothing at all.

We also have completely different headlight regulations, it wasnt until the early to mid 80s that plastic headlights were allowed in the US, before that they had to be either round or rectangular sealed beams. You can REALLY see the difference between the two here.

Thank you for the corrections!

A lot of what I was thinking was basically what trackpaduser said: I don’t know if there are any plans to have the various national equivalents of the U.S. Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard #108 implemented in-game, because if so then adding red ‘indicators’ might be a pain … but if indicator fixtures continue to be for aesthetic purposes primarily, I feel like it would be a really good feature for US players and easy to implement.

As far as I’m aware there are no intentions to implement “fixture standards” to allow creative freedom.

It should be very simple to put a red indicator into the game. We’re lacking a decent rear reflector anyway, so I imagine a reflector could do a decent job of standing in for a red side marker or indicator.

I would be happy with that, some cars only had the reflectors and not a light inside so it would still “work”.

I remember now that some part of the light fixture is just red reflectors.
On some old cars they were seperate, and could be replaced when they became dull. No need to replace the entire light fixture.

A lot of modern cars have a secondary pair of reflectors in the rear bumper.

@Sayonara: Also a really good point.
