Tire sizes/profiles of the 60's and 70's

Hi
Changes should be made to the tire sizes and profiles of 1960’s and 1970’s cars. A small change was included in an earlier update, but it’s still way off…
Fooled around with a small 70’s car today, and tried to make it typical for the era. But 70 or 65 profiles on a 155 or 175 width tire simply wasnt available at the time, so I didnt bother to finish it. May seem like a small matter, but still. I’ve put together a small collection of tire sizes from around 1975 to show you what I mean. The 70 profile was the “low profile” of this era, and was mainly used on supercars.

Supercars:
1977 Lamborghini Countach
205/70-14(F) and 215/70-14®

1976 Ferrari 512 BB
215/70-15 (F)and 225/70-15®

1975 Ferrari 308 GTB
205/70-14

Smaller sport coupes:
1975 Fiat 128 3P Berlinetta 1300
145 SR 13 (82 profile)

1976 Ford Capri II 2300 GT
165 SR 13 (82 profile)

1975 Porsche 924
165 HR 14 (82 profile)

Hopefully some changes will be made to make this more authentic. An option for rim width should also be included.
The tire wall height is calculated using the profile number and the width. Example: A 205/50 tire has a tire wall height of 50% of 205mm(102.5mm) A 175/70 tire has a tire wall height of 70% of 175mm(122.5mm).

Hello Mostra!

Just played around with the game a bit - it is possible to get the usual low profiles of that time - but sometimes the tyre diameter is the limiting factor sometimes. I tried to put on some tyres on the muscle car body in 1975, and was possible to fit most of your listed tyres there, except the 145/80 R13 one. The smallest possible i could get was 145/95 R13, but that is limited by the tyre diameter, which is determined by the body type.

The tyre profile does require a bit of fiddling - and the small Escort (70ies) body is simply too small for those tyres. Things look better with the big Escort body, but not too much. Those are more sedan and compact car bodies than sport coupe or supercar ones, they simply dont have room for a 205/70 R14

Not sure if you understood what I meant. In my mind a small car like the Escort should have 13 inch rims fitted with 155 or 165 tires in 82 profile.( In fact the Escort had just those sizes) But ,looking at the wheelbase, maybe this ingame car body is even smalller than a period Escort, and should be fitted with 12 inch rims. It’s a bit confusing to not have the overall length of the car;)

We have 3 Escorts ingame - tiny, normal and huge. The normal Escort is the 2.37m wheelbase one, which has a footprint of 1.7m x 1.2m x 4.0m - which is the real Escort. And I managed to fit 165/65 R13 tyres on it - a higher profile was not possible because i could not make the diameter any bigger.

Rear tyre is already slightly colliding with the wheel arch there, and that size limit is coded into the body file. It probably should have 12" Wheels to have the exact same profile and width compared to the real escort.
