TMCC16: Sensible Speed

are advanced trim settings allowed (I might have missed it again) since they don’t have an effect on the scores?

So I will wait for the game update when the fuel economy score compression happens.
There is no information about advanced trim settings.

The Arlington Antares 3.0 SR

Fun in a Fridge
Wagon with Wasabi
The Japanese Version of the Volvo Professor

The Arlington Antares initially launched in the States in 1989, and came to Japan just a year later. It was the first Arlington to be sold in Japan on a large scale. A midsize offering that aimed to compete with modernized sedans over in America, the Antares was nevertheless heavily prepped to cross the Pacific: Unlike the Stateside model, a manual transmission was available and a center consolestandard equipment; a base 2-liter 4-cylinder was made available, and the Antares’ V6 received a lower deck and various upgrades to maximize specific power, as rewarded by the local tax code.

This 1996 car belongs to the ‘second generation’ (platform facelift, in truth) of the Antares launched 2 years prior, but it’s a special one: It’s been to SR. Arlington’s in-house performance division, which has always been involved with Arlington’s Japanese operations due to the need for low-displacement power, was given Arlington’s brand-new, alloy-block V6 to play with. While identical in dimensions to the old JP-market mil, this 18-valve, variable-timed, tuned V6 outputs 220 HP from just 3 liters. That’s good for an acceleration of 7.3 seconds to 100, and all goes through the front wheels for maximum weight efficiency.

While lacking a supercharger or any other totally-crazy engine and drivetrain work (this one’s even automatic), this is no half-measure: As with all true SR cars, this Antares estate features aggressive bodywork, large alloy wheels, scary foglights (of course), and an extremely finely-tuned suspension that maintains comfort and practicality while allowing the Antares to maintain neutral handling even at high speeds, understeer not showing itself for miles. Thank the two huge hunks of aluminum this car calls ‘sway bars’ for that. So it’s definitely a real SR and not just some trim line.

While the interior does feature some ‘fun bits’, the main draw is that it comes straight from the wagon’s top trim. It’s all premium soft leather, high-quality audio and good climate control, with a dash (literally) of out-of-fashion yet endearingly high-quality digitization.

Or, at least, that’s what the dealership worker at Arlington Tokyo said. Make your own damn choice on what to make of this weird Yankee-fried speedwagon.

Is there any rules on quality sliders? I couldn’t find an answer on this.

There are no rules on quality sliders. You can use them as you see fit. Try to avoid using negative quality though, because negative quality is bad.

1996 ROWAN Fidelis TT2100

The TT2100 is a trim specifically designed for Japan. With strict tax laws on engine displacement, the larger European and North American engines just wouldn’t cut the mustard in the land of the rising sun. So a 2.1 liter Flat 4 engine was fitted, not too distant from the regular models.

But of course, this is a sports model, so you are asking, how on earth did we get 240 horses out of this motor? The answer, lies in two key technologies. Twin Turbocharging, and REDTECH. The twin turbos give 0.8 bar of pressure, giving full boost from 3,500 rpm all the way to the redline of 7,700. Then, at 5,000rpm, the REDTECH switches off the “green” fuel efficient camshafts and makes the “red” sports camshafts spin right round. On the dash, a green light is lit when below 5,000 but it turns red when it goes over 5,000, so you know you are in the “hot zone”. If you are worried about the engine being peaky, don’t worry, since when you put your foot to the floor, the transmission is ratioed to make sure those red cams keep on spinning.

Speaking of gearboxes, two are available. The 6 speed manual, and the 5 speed auto, as demonstrated here. A CD player is standard, with A/C included as well, and there is an optional telementry pack which includes live readings of temperatures (internal and external), fuel amount and a digital speedometer, all being read out live.

The fuel economy is a respectable 30 mpg for the Auto and 31 for the Manual. This is due to it’s lightness, weighing in at 1442 kg, and also due to being able to run eco cam profiles without losing high rpm performance. All of this comes in at a fabulously cheap $34,500!

I have two question.

  1. Is race turbo header allow? I use with that and that is still under loudness limit.
  2. Will LHD interiors make that lower score? Some real car have RHD version over base for Japan. If that case, I probably put RHD on my car even that brand is in US.

  1. While it is not explicitly banned in the rules (because I forgot to ban it) I will bin a car with any race parts because it is simply unrealistic.

  2. Yes. Imagine having to ordering from the McDonald’s drive-through in reverse. If you have a super-special grand tourer or sports car it might be alright, but for something like a family car it would be very cumbersome.

Is it ok to submit a JDM spec foreign car? Like with the parking pole and the 111.8mph speed limit regulation.

Yes it’s allowed, although I don’t think that the parking pole and speed limit regulation would be necesscary for this class of car.

If you want to use a speed limiter I’d suggest setting it to a higher speed as 180kmh tyres are absolute rubbish

I am building a turbo engine that develops 259 hp, but with the use of racing parts. Thanks for the clarification, including about the right hand drive.
By the way, setting at least some records on NB is out of the question here.

You should think about changing them to more ‘civilian’ parts for the competition - even with less power, you will do well if there’s comfort. You can build the all-out race edition for yourself - that’s what I usually do.

And especially make sure your intake is NOT performance, race, or variable - all of those will eliminate your car for being too loud.

On that note, anyone using positive quality should also be mindful of the fact that it can increase trim and/or engine ET values past the upper limit if overused.

yes. that is how quality sliders work. you should always check that before submitting too

Galaxy Betelgeize Dub 55 1996.

I present your attention our new VV Galaxy Betelgeize Dub 55 station wagon built by LVAP as if it was not founded in 2021, but somewhere in the 90’s.
Complying with the hardest rules about the competition TMCC16 Sensible Speed, this car had to be made very fast and powerful. In addition to these things that were specified by the host of this competition, comfort plays an important role here. The overall feel here goes for 30 points. Which is certainly not a record, but a good indicator.
Probably the first time in a long time of watching the stats, I was able to scored a lot of points on all the important parameters presented in this section of the forum.
This is a turbocharged 2.5 liter V6, making 257 hp at 3,300 rpm.
This engine is the Cool Time Peak, once again emphasizing all the sophistication and thoughtfulness of this vehicle. Yes, it was necessary to keep within the budget and to shut off electronic systems of safety, but the sensitive accelerator pedal which allows rather accurately using lower thresholds of the motor schedule without serious slips and accelerations up to cut-off comes to the aid of the driver here.
The huge space of the interior allows the passengers to relax and feel as if they are in their own house.
With all that, this car perfectly takes into account all the compromises that arise in the engineering of the car, and they live together in commonwealth without any serious costs.
What interesting features Universal Galaxy Betelgeize Dub 55 has:
For all its sharpening for statistics in Automation, it behaves quite decently in Beam.
The intelligently spaced power-to-weight ratio and weight distribution make you feel great about all the inertia, sharpness and massiveness when driving.
The narrow wheel rims further reduce the already low load on suspension wear.
Air suspension allows you to lower the body by a solid 200 mm, thereby increasing maneuverability and reducing the risk of rollover on the highway.
Playability of this configuration does not cause a desire to change anything in the interior or exterior soon.
Car Specs:
Engine: Bi - Turbo SOHC V6 90 degrees
Power: 257 hp at 3300
Acceleration 0 - 62: 7.3 seconds.
Weight: 1666 kg / 3673 lb.
Powertrain: 4wd Manual Lock
Cost: $37,800.

ENGLISH SUMMARY INFORMATION

The Suisei Fuji Alca is the all new 1996 Japanese wagon that shares platform with Suisei’s R-V GTR platform and Yari Evo rally car. Paired with the highly sophisticated 4WD system developed in the late 80s and improved onwards, carries with yaw control and 4WS for the higher end turbo models. Including semi-active suspension controls to further enhance the wagon to keep up with the most sporty of cars.

But do not be fooled, the S-R Version of the Fuji Alca provides adequate power through the Suisei Valve Timing-Electronic Lift (SVTL) that enables the car’s already race proven engine platform, the TFSV90 (Tengai Engine from the GTR) equipped for the tubular headers CNC straight from the R-V GTR factor, allowing it to rev past 7500rpm. With the SVTL system activating cams past 6000~ RPM pushing over 260PS, providing both smooth delivery economically whilst retaining the power associated with Suisei.

The S-R model also is equipped with a PANASONIC digital screen that provides the user a g-force, and other information with the turbo models, boost pressure.
