Since there is not too much of a difference between partial alu and steel in terms of environmental resistance, I’d consider steel to be “Acceptable, minimally rustproofed steel”. Indonesia doesn’t use or need road anyway, so rust isn’t as much of an issue as it is in Europe or America
Having more rustproofing is always good though, because having rust on your car is bad
The Toyota Avanza/Daihatsu Xenia is body on frame though, so in some ways body on frame (or light truck monocoque) is viable. Depending on what you’re making, of course.
A few Q’s after putting some time in it:
Is AWD a plus for mobility? My brands usually embrace a Subaru-esque approach to drivetrain.
Also, some of the bodies straddle SUV-MPV-CUV though the are clearly like a van. About 3000 lbs. Is this good or do I need to think differently?
Last, does a taxi with 3 rows (minivan/cuv) have an occupancy advantage? Some times in USA cities, the larger vans will command a premium but allow more riders at once, for a group.
AWDs will not bring any advantage in this case, since the car will mostly be driven in the city. If anything, the increased fuel consumption and decreased reliability would make the car less compelling.
This is good, but an outright van or minivan would not be preferred in this case.
Cars with three rows do have a practicality advantage, but are obviously more expensive than those without. So try to balance between practicality, cost, and etc. to make something that’s appropriate for this round. And again, a large van is, well, too large for what I’m looking for.
In the context of Automation, the last gen Xenia/Avanza would be a light truck monocoque, at least if the Wiki is anything to go by, though a ladder chassis would obviously save more money. The Innova is a full ladder chassis, though it might not fit in budget without much negative quality.
Interesting feature of all the inspiration cars… they do not have amber turn signal reflectors. Surely they have amber bulbs, but yeah that’s kinda new
