Translation

right somewhere around here i stumbled upon the beginning of this topic.

i’m going to assume u know your english, but what about the other languages? Only per mod, or somewhat officially, not with monetary compensation, but maybe mentioning in the Credits?

If so sign me up for german

They replied in my own topic “Hi there, many questions in my mind…”, that there would be and that they would like us to help them translating.

thanks kev, but i think that something like that deserves its own topic

Hey Deus ex Machina
My motherlanguage is German and i know Turkish also very good.

cheers

And I’d offer my services for a Norwegian translation. I like to write, and have an extensive vocabulary both in my native toungue and english. Besides, with my background, I have extensive knowledge of technical terms and would easily be able to translate even heavy, technical stuff.

Nice to see lots of people puting their hands up for translation - we’ll get in contact with you all when it gets to that point

I’m surprised to see somebody from Germany here, thought I would be the only one :stuck_out_tongue:
I would also offer my capacities for a translation

Guten Tag Herr Schneider…

Yes there are quite a few Germans here it seems, they do love tycoons and simulation, don’t they? :stuck_out_tongue:
Welcome on board.

And only one thai.

Actually it’s fine. Make me feel good actually

I don’t mind lending a hand for the Spanish translation…

Considering how Germans famously HATE tycoon games, and cars… wait a sec… thats not right is it  :stuck_out_tongue:

ups; with all the german speakers here ive got to watch out for flame because of my sig :stuck_out_tongue:

Hehe, is nur mein Nickname, ich heiß nich wirklich Schneider

Yeah, maybe we do :stuck_out_tongue:
Thanks for the welcome, I am following the block a few months now, but wasn’t active in the board. Just thought it would be useful this time, looks like a very interesting project here!
Can’t wait until another wave of betas go out

@Deus Ex Machina: Reading your signature, I guess, we obviously share similar opinions

hazarding a guess b is for bernd; since iirc bernd schneider is/was a DTM driver.

i hope u r above 18 because eisregen managed to get every CD on the so called index (Its a german special for “protecting the youth”; an index with a number of games (C&C generals; 99.999999% of all shooters; everything with nazi stuff, even if its just the hakenkreuz flag) movies and music. The criteria are somewhat controversial imo. So if u managed to get onto this list/index with lets say a CD, its illegal to advertise this CD/have it lying around with other nonindex CDs/play it in locations where ppl below 18 might hear or see it. Since the “agency” for this index only starts to work AFTER the release and after someone told them that there might be something meeting the criteria on the CD u have a limited timeframe for advertisement, after that u have to rely on word of mouth (i think thats the correct translation). if u want to buy something on the index u got to go to the store and tell them specifcally what u want, and they have to check your age with a driver licence or something similar.

on a side note: since germany has around ten times the population of austria, but the language is esentially the same we also get the censored german versions (like in aforementioned generals, where every human was replaced with an cyborg, the GLA removed their anthrax for acid etc.), even if we dont even have something remotely similar to the index…

Actually it’s related to the football player with the same name, not everything is motorsport-related here! :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m 17, never listened to Eisregen, but heard of it. I just wanted to support the lines in your signature, disregarding the origin. I’m familiar with the index, especially in the sector gaming and I second your statement, that these decisions are often questionable. I guess, that won’t change too fast. But don’t let your head down, we could also live in Australia
Every country has its problems with media. Americans freak out if the least sign of breasts is involved, Germany’s after nationalsocialistic signs(like the swastika) and so-called excessive violence(take this Von der Leyen!), Australia doesn’t like any drugs involved in gaming(Fallout 3: kotaku.com/5023636/heres-why-fal … -australia). And there are much more examples. This will never stop, you can offend people with almost anything, if they’re just searching for an offense strongly enough.

that last sentence gets my complete agreement; if somesone wants there to be something wrong hell search untill he found it.

hows the law about cheating on a test at school/university in .de?

i dont mean getting caught, but lets say u forget to take your cheatsheet out of the (dict.cc says exercise book for “Heft”) and the teacher finds it while correcting the test?

had an instance where that happenened to me… in french too…

she wasnt that happy about it, but couldnt just mark it negative, since she didnt catch me using it, but boy the correction style was more than most strict

Whoo, I don’t certainly know, but I think, that’s the correct situation. If she didn’t see the actual “fraud”, she can’t accuse you of committing it. It’s questionable, if there is a headline “French test”, your name and the correct date, she could say it’s part of the test, but I guess that wasn’t the case :stuck_out_tongue:
“Heft” would be a possible translation, depending on how you write the test. You say “exercise book” that sounds like the tests are prepared in an actual collection of tests? I’m a bit confused right now, we just have a blank piece of paper where we write/a work sheet created by the teacher, which we get for the test and immediately hand it over afterwards. Explanation please!

well that event was in highschool where we had actual exercise books, in which we wrote all the tests of that class for a year. @ uni it depends on the teacher, but its always some variation of a couple of sheets of paper, some give u the sheet with the questions and a single one to write on, some give u more sheets that sometimes are tacked together on the left upper corner, some give u the sheets, questions and a folded A3 (we write on A4, which is half an A3) functioning as a binding where u just write your name on.

so plenty of possibilities to mess up^^

Hehe :stuck_out_tongue:

But my confusion was about the fact that, in the case you have such an exercise book, you could prepare for every test by learning the questions, which you have.
The other possibilities are quite similar, sometimes just one sheet A4 or sometimes A3 etc. We write on A4, too. But depends on the teacher, how you write. All I have to know is that my teachers don’t like me and that I won’t likely get a chance to change this

If you need somebody for translation to Dutch (flemish), I can help… maybe French also a littlebit.
