Ok, I just have a craving for something just rediculous, so rediculous, that its funny. I am going to host a Racing Minivan challenge. The goal is simple, design a minivan that is meant to be raced in.
Rules:
-One minivan per entry
-No racing parts or carbon fiber
-Minivan must not exceed 85K in USD
-Minivan must have a V6, V8, or V12
-You can use any drivetrain
-Nothing that will limit production
-Must look like a minivan
-No older than 2017
Entries due 1/14/2017 @ 12pm Mountain Time
Voting will begin on 1/15 @ 5pm Mountain Time and end 1/16 @ 5pm Mountain Time
Please have a Front, Side, Rear, Track, Market, and Details pictures of your minivan with a download of your minivan. That is 6 pictures needed.
seems a bit more workable than some of your other challenges, though i still see a complete lack of a scoring system, and what bodies qualify as a “minivan”? also any specific year? or is it just going to all be in 2020?
anything that has racing in its name. @Speedemon thats the point. Everyone knows what a minivan is. Good call on the year @cpufreak101. I will fix that. Why score, when people will vote. We can have another judge do a video or series of videos if you want, and he or she will come up with a scoring system.
I am. The score system is public vote. And I entered my last competition (Muscle Car Challenge, which I lost) There is nothing wrong with this one. Will you put in a racing minivan?
@rcracer11m if the part says limited production in red, don’t use it.
Why cant you score your own event? Also what are we supposed the judge the vans on when voting on them? If this is a racing competition are we only focused on the lap times or do stats matter in some way?
I’m going to cover the bases here. Please select the appropriate response below:
You, CNC, are one of the most prolific trolls I have encountered on these threads. Even Sir Potto would be impressed.
—OR—
You have made another challenge with no intention of actually running the competition. Let me answer your question of “why score”: BECAUSE THAT IS THE POINT OF THESE COMPETITIONS. HOW IGNORANT OF THAT PRINCIPLE ARE YOU?!?
I just don’t get it, kid. We’ve explained this to you numerous times. The real kicker is that this challenge at least appeared workable. It was kind of flimsy, but it wasn’t an abomination. However, you threw another one in the gutter because you want to make rules, build a car for your rules, and expect the community to do the rest. It. Doesn’t. Work. Like. That.
If you’re going to do this type of thing, look at the King of the Hill challenge. You can design a car and a ruleset and encourage others to beat your design. Then you can try to improve your own design to leapfrog the other competitors. Just open your eyes and look at what has already been done.
You’re trying to reinvent the wheel and you’ve come up with a triangle.
You know @CNCharger there are people that would help you out if you asked them politely without the hollier than thou attitude of a pre-teen. If you really are interested in holding compititions talk to those that have or are running comps that work. Or better yet enter a few to see what works and why. My biggest advice (u can take it or leave it) is to enter comps that allow the winner to chose the ruleset ie APL CSR. By the time you win something you should have a much better understanding of the game and car building
Which minivan is better is the subject of the vote. All right, Here are the things to look for.
1 is worst and 10 is best (this is not ranking)
-Asthyetics
-Power
-Top Speed
-Number of seats (1 to 7 in this case)
-Efficiency
-Drivability
-Lap Times
now we need a judge.
@KLinardo, I tried to simplify it by not including a score system and using voting instead. And no, I’m not a troll. I request like half my threads to be shut down cause of this bickering. Lets see this one to the end, like the Muscle Car Challenge, please.
More like, we all look for interesting challenges to participate in, saw minivan racing, got excited, saw the lack of key aspects of a functioning challenge, questioned you about it, got the same answers that we admonished you about in the past, then got on your case for continually ignoring our suggestions.
Sooooooooooo, no. Most of us probably aren’t going to submit minivans in a short time because of a lack of challenge organization.
I’m withholding comment on your Muscle Car Challenge, because then you could legitimately call this “bickering”.
are you looking for a reward? A judge will probably make a youtube video showing off the vehicles, and maybe a shout out. I think I will get SillyDucky again. And seriously, @Madrias put a car in the Muscle Car Challenge, and it was structured like this, and it was successful. Do this one, and the next ones will be better, I promise. I will read that thread about structuring challenges.
“A judge” That tends to be the person who makes the challenge. The whole point of making a challenge is to use your skills to entertain others. Not to come up with an idea, give someone else the work, and submit your own thing into that.
@CNCharger. Ok i wont comment here but i will say this. I do not like coming across as a know it all.
If ya really want to hold a minivan challenge pm myself in a few hrs and i will help you structure the challenge and help you run this one challenge but you must do one thing and that is write the reviews. I will do the maths show you how to create spreadsheets and simple equations to help you out if you want it.
Why don’t you do that first and then revise this challenge? No, seriously. Like I said, it’s a decent premise, but you have to grapple with what makes a challenge good before you vomit some rules onto a thread in this topic.
@Darkshine5 I said I will structure my next challenges better, ok. @KLinardo, both of us reminded him, which is why judges will now be optional. On Sunday, I will open a poll. Here is the System for the public.
Scored by number of votes
-Better Looking
-Better suits needs
-Which they think will win in an actual race (its different when there are others on the track).
KLinardo, you don’t have to participate if you don’t want to, but I’m sticking to my word. Your pushing it. If someone wants a video, they do it themselves or ask someone else if they can do it.
Oh, and outcomes are only forseeable if we have cars.
