If Nathan drives my car, I will pay him 100 dollars if his spine is not in the wrong place, as the car is quite uncomfortable. I would recommend the money be use on spinal surgery.

Then I recommend he use the money as down payment for the loan to pay said surgery, but he probably has terrible credit, so interest would be north of 20%, but I presume Nathan doesn’t know how loans work. Or banks. Or credit. Or magic plastic (credit cards) for that matter.
This is a car that he intends to use frequently, if not daily. This is a car he intends to hang out with his friends in, space allowing.
Given his price range, his standards for how comfortable the car should be are pretty low; truly, he’s more concerned with how well it actually works. But, if it really is no bother, he would prefer the inside of his car be at least habitable for carbon-based life forms.
A car based on BMW and/or Volvo. Of course it’s the most refined.
This car’s premium interior and entertainment help, but what really seems to make it the best is its well-tuned suspension, as well as its good engine and auto gearbox. Its 5-seating interior is somewhat cramped, which does hurt it, but its a pretty small deduction given everything else.
Why hello again, Sir Weight-Shedded. The results are in, and it seems that having a basic interior and no entertainment is really bad for comfort. The car’s trackday-focused suspension tuning also worsens the score as well, as does the manual gearbox, lack of power steering, poor sound insulation and cramped interior.
But hey, it’s not all bad! The high-profile hard tires boost the comfort score just enough to keep it above 0!

Service costs was predicted, but I never thought the Saarland would score so well on safety, being a MY 1991 with only standard 80s equipment, but I guess that the sheer size helped it out a bit. Sometimes you’re in for surprises.

@interior Will there be a hypermiling/fuel economy edition with a V10 that will occasionally blow up (looking at you E60 M5).
Nonexistant research shows that 9/10 consumers who buy something would prefer it work as advertised more often than not. In the case of Nathan, that’s especially true, because he doesn’t understand very deeply the mechanics that make a car function; if something goes wrong, he’ll have no idea what to do about it.
Considering how often he is going to use this car, it is very important to him that nothing go wrong. And considering how old and cheap these cars are, it is a fact that many things will go wrong- but we can at least aim to minimize the frequency and severity of this phenomanon, right?
Hey, this one seems familiar.
And oh lawd, it’s got numbers. This car is in a league of its own in terms of reliability, holding a 4.2 point lead over the rest of the cars. Why? I bet for the same reasons the service costs are so low: it’s just a stool & a race engine covered in sheet metal. There’s nothing here. The only fancy stuff is on the engine- performance intake, and per-cylinder throttle bodies, and forged internals -but aparently, that does very little to stop this thing from being immortal.

This thing’s off-the-wall engine tune is probably the main culprit; the engine’s reliability in isolation is at 46.9. Other elements that don’t help it include the analog automatic and the inclusion of features.
Though honestly, 57.9 isn’t exactly that horrible a score overall. Sure, every other car beat it, but the King Snake’s not exactly disintegrating on the spot. If Nathan were actually in the market for a project car…

Holy sh*t, I haven’t logged on in a long time and I really thought that the Sunburst would have been an average car. Oh my god, now that it’s leading I’m actually really nervous, my heart is racing! It also doesn’t help that practicality is literally the last category. Thats the part thats killing me!

As someone who has never won CSR, read the rules and brief carefully, with the intention of trying to understand what the host wants. Build that.
I’m decent at understanding what the hosts want, and I’m really good at not building it.
I can’t even host a challenge let alone win a csr ever without it looking rigged or based on favouritism
There’s also a subjective element to it. I mean I completely bunged CSR 144 because I thought it was what the host meant, and also it seemed to fit the profile but it definitely wasn’t it. The understanding of rules and cars is a bit different from person to person.
Man, can I just say. Somehow you managed to make a car that completely misunderstands, and yet somehow perfectly understands what this challenge is about. I’m reading back all the challenge criteria and the Wells is basically nearly top or nearly bottom, and yet somehow in 4th at the moment. I would eat my foot if it somehow managed to be perfectly drivable and have 5+ seats…

Digging the format, with frequent updates, highlights, fun facts, no arbitrary eliminations, and a very open, hopefully happy, ending.
As for takeaways, in retrospect some choices on my car are suboptimal for the brief, steadily bleeding points. Will it survive the final battle of sports and family cars?
Hatchback, manual trans, RWD, ABS only, and the owner’s “improvements” with harder suspension and more noise, let alone picking the “cool” old model over “the car he should buy” - they were apparently so boring I forgot about them!
