That is a sweet Ram. That gen is getting less common here in the states as well. Good to see some love for the American stuff over there in Europe.
I can only recall seeing this generation once
Oh, Swedes love American vehicles, newer RAMs are everywhere, but this generation is, as I said, getting rare…
That’s good to hear. Usually in my experience, Europeans have unfair opinions on American vehicles. When I was in France, People hated that I bought a old ratty T-Bird from it’s OG owner (WWII Vet) for 500 Euros.
Is it cheating if the car is yours?
1986 Suzuki Mighty Boy. I've seen two more, but I can't find photosI have never EVER seen one in person … the Alpha
I am not 100% sure, but I think Alfa Romeo left the US market for some years about at the same time when the 155 was released, so I am not sure that it was ever sold in the US.
Here’s the original article regarding Alfa Romeo’s exit from the North American market in 1995:
Combined with FIAT and Maserati also having left in 1986 and 1990, respectively, it left Ferrari as the only Italian manufacturer at the time (apart from Lamborghini) to have a presence in that market (although, then as now, there was nothing in either manufacturer’s range costing less than $100,000, whereas the most expensive US-spec 1995 Alfa 164 came in at well below that). To quote the above article: “Alfa is the last Italian automaker to offer a mainstream car in the United States. After the last 164s are sold, the least expensive Italian automobile available here will be a $120,000 Ferrari.” However, Alfa resumed US exports with the 8C in 2006 (four years after Maserati re-entered that market with the 4200GT), before returning full-time with the 4C in 2014, and the Giulia in 2016, followed by the Stelvio the following year; meanwhile, parent company FIAT (now part of Stellantis) brought the New 500 to American shores in 2011, a full four years after its European launch.
Less “The cars are interesting” and more how insane the size difference is between a brand new RAM 1500 and an old Mini.
That is frightening, you can hardly see it over the bonnet of the truck!
Speaking of interesting cars, there’s this DBX “prototype” vehicle I saw a few weeks ago. Not sure why it needs prototyping still, maybe there’s some upgrades on the way
I took a photo beforehand going “Oh, it’s so big compared to the Corolla” not even knowing the Mini was behind it
Seen this about a month ago. Ive never seen a vehicle in camo like that in person, only in Car&Driver magazine. The dudes were cool untill i started asking about the vehicle in camo, it was like they all simultaneously shut down and got all professional. Its ok, i know the front end looks like a Genisis🫣…ill just take my pictures and leave.
that’s the upcoming audi a6 right?
A couple years ago I used to see the current-gen Ford Ranger when it came out. Like every 2 weeks there’d be a Ranger doing a road test or something. I doubt I’ll see anything like it again, because I’m pretty sure either this or the next generation of Ranger is gonna be the last car developed in Australia
DBX is currently in a sales slump because they announced a new interior for 2024+ models, so I imagine the prototype you saw is one of those new interior test bed models.
The burgundy red car in the back is a 1975 Triumph spitfire and the black car in the front is a 1968 Triumph TR250
Thats pretty cool. I would only ever see that type of stuff reading Car&Driver back in the day, so for me to see that in this day and age, i was in awe.
I havent seen one of these in so damn long, and to see a TURBO version in such good condition was even more of a shocker.
Bear in mind this is the UK, seeing an American import is weird, let alone one this cool and in good condition.
I feel your pain. I have seen exactly two Cadillac Escalades in my entire life. For context, I have also seen 2 Ferrari F40s
