Your favorite car games ever

I came here to post this exactly, MC3 was the ultimate street racing game on the PS2/Xbox if you ask me. Shame the PS2 looks like garbage on modern HDTVs :frowning:

I agree. I’ve got an old 4:3 flat-screen TV for the original Xbox and just out of curiosity tried what it would look like on my old Commodore CRT screen. It lacked colour, but the picture was much sharper

I have advice for anyone who likes Gran Turismo games: if you don’t have a steering wheel controller, the next best thing is to play it on an emulator with an Xbox 360 controller, if set up correctly. Lately I have been playing Gran Turismo 2 and 4 like that and I find the xbox controller to have a much better feel and easier to control the throttle and brake precisely. I could play GT4 with my logitech g27 but on the real playstation 2 I can’t tweak its setup to my liking and on an emulator it’s just too much trouble to get it working well. I used to love the playstation controller but ever since getting the xbox controller for my pc I’ve preferred that since the feel and shape of the trigger buttons is much better for me.

Did you try using a compound cable instead of AV crap it comes with? I ran GT4 not so long ago in 1080 and it looks freaking amazing for a 2005 game

I still mostly Play GT4 and Forza 4, so I’d have to say those. Also, I just use a CRT TV for my PS2, since I have 3 of them lying around, and they’re too cheap to warrant selling, I put one to use.

Hmm. Maybe worth a shot, thanks

There are not many 1080i compatible games on GT4, but GT4 is one of them, also no need for a Sony brand cable, I’m using freaks and geeks and it cost about 9 eur. So it’s also pretty cheap for the result you’re getting

Screw it im buying a PS2 and NFS Most Wanted, GT4, Colin McRae Rally 2005, Enthusia Racing and Driver Parallel Lines :grimacing:

Good waste of a 20 eur.

Add Tokyo Xtreme Racer 0 and 3 to the list.

JALOPY JALOPY is calm and has soft vehicle suspension.

I was thinking of a different game, never played those ones

Another ‘racing’ game I played a lot

But don’t you want to run the wangan at 400 km/h in your heavily modified rice mobile with a silly nickname racing other 400 km/h heavily modified rice mobiles with silly nicknames?

This was the first game that I bought with my own money. N.I.C.E.2, known here and in some other places as Breakneck. I’ve never heard anyone else even mention this game anywhere. Recently I installed this on my current computer and found out to my delight that it still works and with the g27 wheel even. BUT… only in “arcade” mode. The game had a separate career mode that you could choose from the game’s launcher window and I just can’t get that to work anymore.

The cars don’t have official licensing so there are fake manufacturer and model names but the car selection is decent (all kinds of things from Minis to Monster Trucks to Formula 1 and fake Lamborghinis) and the handling feels fun. I generally don’t enjoy such arcade racing but in this game it just tickles me the right way with its very large amounts of grip. I also learned about good racing lines and manual gear usage from this game.

There’s also a mode where the cars have weapons but I never played it that much, I find the idea of weapons in cars stupid and childish.
