FAAL: The Engines.
This thread is likely to be updated a lot, and will serve as a place where I’ll post engine specs and link them in the company’s topic.
Engine code reading:
-First three numbers are max displacement and number of cylinders (184: 1.8L, 4 cylinder).
-First letter is the head type.
- P: Pushrod
- S: Direct acting SOHC
- R: SOHC with Rockers (4 valves per cylinder)
- D: DOHC (4 valves per cylinder)
- F: DOHC (Five valves per cylinder)
All those numbers make for the engine family.
-Next 2 numbers are the actual engine displacement (13 => 1.3L. 8 => 800cc, etc)
-The rest of the code is fuel delivery type.
- C: carburated
- Ce: carburated, eco
- DC: carburated, DCOE
- M: mechanical injection
- spi: single point injection
- mpi: multipoint injection
- DI: direct injection
- D: Diesel, indirect injection
- TD: Turbo Diesel, indirect injection
- TDE: Turbodiesel, direct injection
The rest of the code varies. If it’s a number, it’s likely the total number of barrels of the carburators. U means Unleaded fuel (for an updated version of an ancient engine to run on unleaded), E means Emissions (for engines running hypereutectic cast pistons). US is for USDM only engines.
Example: 184S16Ce2UE: Engine family 184S (4 cyl, 1.8L max, single cam), 1.6L, twin carb eco, unleaded, hypereutectic cast pistons
