American Road Trip Challenge [finished]

If there is still a spot open after I return from my final today, I may try to get a mustang-like car built for it.

I thought I was going safe with my 280km/h rwd coup and there I am, seeing all this sensible AWD carsā€¦ Iā€™m really interested in what challenges did @asdren prepare and if conservative approach will pay of.

People entering V8 coupes and what not and I entered a fuel-efficient minivan, oh boy.

Its ok, I entered a fuel efficient I4 AWD hatchback

can you reserve the last spot for me

Well well, looks like you have a direct competitor!

I just submitted mine :slight_frown:

Gone half-way sporty and practical/economic with a 160hp economic fwd 4-seater convertible with lots of luggage space.

My AWD minivan is gonna beat you both, the utility/practicality score is no joke.

Okay, i have received 20 entries. @Ornate @lordvader1 @findRED19 send me your cars until tomorrow.

Those should be enough  , I wonā€™t be taking any new participants.

Iā€™ll start checking all the entries tomorrow and I hope there wonā€™t be a lot of issues, since the rules were rather simple.

Also, entries that are valid can not be modified from this point on.

I had to correct an error on challenge 7 and i had a new idea, so i also added challenge 8.

Sounds good, good luck going through the entrants!

So lets see how the convertible version of a sedan from an austrian budget car manufacturer does in 'murica
(and please tell me itā€™s not the slowest car in the lineup ;D )

Since I didnā€™t have the time to make a proper ad (and am unlikely to have such this week), I might as well share some more numbers about the Howler Pegasus RSF for those interested.

Not sure how the 258g/kWh ends up translating into the same 9l/100 that HighOctaneLoveā€™s supervan gets with 395,4g/kWh but the 6,6l/100km cruise consumption sounds fair enough.

Iā€™m rather interested in seeing how my full size truck will do. On paper it looks a tad weak in some areas, but we shall see. Iā€™m still pleased with how it came out though I realized that the massive bed just killed the truckā€™s departure angle.

###The Redhawk Performance Group will supply one 2006 RPG Stallion to participate in the American Road Trip Challenge.

This car is heavily based on the Ford Mustang of the same era, but is surely engineered by Redhawk Performance Group alone. Itā€™s not like RPG strait up copied the Mustang while in a rush to get something done for a road trip that would take place 10 years later.

And itā€™s not like the engine was a complete copy of the Ford Modular design that would go in such a Mustang. Especially since it is a 5.4L SOHC V8 design with 3 valves per cylinder. And it most definitely does not make more than 300 HP with a redline north of 6 grand.

We totally did not copy all of the Mustang cues and change them slightly as to not be sued by Ford for copying the Mustangā€™s design. And this is totally a car that will appear in RPGā€™s story that is being written on these forums. And RPG will totally not be blown out of the water by designs that use all of the budget.

No, we did not bring out a 2006 model just to justify not spending as much as we could have because we did not know where to put the money. And we did not just ramble about how much cheaper this car could have been had we made it a 2016 model.

ā€¦And I never forgot to tell you about the solid axle rear end with McPherson strut front suspension with rims that are totally larger than 18" and all the money we put into the most advanced-est safety everā€¦ And did I mention we totally did not copy the Ford Mustangā€¦

###ā€¦And that is not a team of lawyers that are fast-walking towards me right now because we stole --not, we did not-- Ford designsā€¦

Well it looks like most people submitted wagons and hatchbacks with tons of cargo space while my car can probably carry some golf clubs at bestā€¦ I just know thereā€™s gonna be one practicality challenge thatā€™s gonna kill me, hopefully I can make it up on the rest

And everyone with their maxium powaaah machines and the likes, and Iā€™m like ā€œwhat car would James May pick?ā€

Mine doesnā€™t even have 300 hpā€¦ but it goes well over 200 km/h and does the 0-100 in about 6.4 seconds. Itā€™s a quite realistic sporty wagon for the middle/upper-middle class, really

Mineā€™s one that I would take a road trip with. That was the only criteria I looked at when designing it, and Iā€™m the guy who would road trip a classic muscle car for the experience.

I would take the classic muscle car over the modern one for the experience almost every time. So, American Muscle FTW!
