Automation Beginners League - season 82/83 drawing to an end!

I should have full results posted on the 11th. Some good racing and cars I have been held up due to RL work commitments ie super cell storms ripping my properties to shreds

CAR REVIEWS

lukerules117 - Cheesewedge

Ok, so here we have a cheese car, looks like it’s cheddar… maybe… muzzarella too… Anyway, here we have a V8 powered ninety-nine cheese pizza. Clearly the “go home, pizza boy!” phrase don’t work with this one, with the light fiberglass body and a great amount of power. The interior is on total race mode, with asiago roll-cage and provolone bucket seats.

FrankNSTein - FSR Project ABL 01

Here we have this nice little monster, another V8 powered MR car, but this one looks like was build from not-fitting parts adapted togethers… Looks like It’ll fall apart anytime, actually I can’t really say that this engine will hold for the entire season. At least it have power steering, so the driver can rest a little more easy knowing that it’ll be a little easier to tame it.

rileybanks - Mole Molniya Track Day

Clean, odd, but clean. Rileybanks clearly (I couldn’t stop the joke, sorry) opted by a clean aero efficient design. The air flows smoothly by the Molnyia body, without find much resistance. The car have other peculiarity, it uses a V6 engine in a MR layout, it’s the only V6 of the hole grid.

07CobaltGirl - SME Vega SS

This is like a dwarf from the middle earth, small, but powerful. This tiny thing here brings the biggest engine of the grid, nothing less then a huge 7.5L of pure american torque distributed by 8 cylinders in a V displacement, if wasn’t for a modified hood the engine wouldn’t fit. The only problem is that is so much torque that the car still have wheel-spin even past 100km/h!

AirJordan - Smooth Gulf

The Smooth Gulf is a LMish car that like to think that he have 2 jet engines, but no, it’s just the fart-cams of the V12 fitted at the middle of the car. As the name says it cuts the air smoothly using a Gulf-ish livery. But this engine, I’m sure, won’t hold the hole season.

Crossworks - The Ugly B-tch

How can we even describe this? It’s ugly at the outside, but what matters is the inside. Yeah, that was good, cliche, but good. This clichê describe this car really well, since his V12 is the 2nd more powerful engine and this is the 4th lighter car at the challenge.

Darkshine5 - Licorne Rallye

A rallye project trying to beat the track-only cars on their own challenge! It uses a 4.5L I6 and bet in the low weight to be fast. It’s a really good looking car, with nice flares, hood and trunk.

DeusExMackia - Erin Merna Touring

The Merna Touring is a cute little thing that entered the wrong place, it’s the middle school guy who want to go out with the high school guys, it just doesn’t fit. It IS a pureblood lightweight touring car though.

gridghost - Scarab Cirrus GT

One of the most stylish cars of the grid, especially these side vents, they look awesome! Is one of the heaviest cars and not the most powerful, but can have the job done.

HighOctaneLove - Bogliq Expresso AE

This one has an “aura” around it that remember me of something, I can’t define if italian or english cars. But if the exterior isn’t odd enough, the engine is a 2.5L I6 using the latest technology of engine heads, a DOHC system! But it isn’t all: The interior doesn’t have just bucket seats and roll-cage, it includes a nice suede finish at the panel and doors! The driver must love this car.

JohnWaldock - JHW 4500LM Skinny Pig

The other LMish entry is this, the (not so) Skinny Pig. The name sound as a pure joke, since the car is the heviest of the grid. It uses a V12 at the mid of the car and don’t have to worry about wheel-spin, but this Pig really needs a diet.

Newtonmeter - DFM Sport Comcept

When I first saw this one I immediately imagined a guy in black racing suit, black helmet and a black cape, making hard briefing noises and entering this car, the most powerful car of the empire. Ok, maybe it isn’t the most powerful one of the empire, but for sure is the most powerful of the grid.

squidhead - Brooklands R Becker R

The british green blends perfectly with this car. It is beautiful, until the end of the rear wheel arches, the rear end didn’t quite fall into my tastes (body’s fault). It uses a heavy 5.0L V8 all of iron, what makes the car really heavy.

Steel - AJR Angtrom RRR

Odd… that’s the best description. Odd but fast.

Xoury - Space Taxi GMX-01

The deep blue fits really well the front end, but the rear looks like a christmas tree. It isn’t the lightest, nor the most powerful, actually it would fit at middle in both matters, being well balanced with a MR display.

Nomade0013 - RP6 GTL

That’s my car, need to say more? Just that already make it great!

RESULTS 1970

Suzuka

Here we are in Suzuka track to start our first Automation Beginners League! The three races of this 1970 year will be Suzuka, Green Hell and Spa. As I can imagine you must be asking yourself “why we’re not in Fuji Speedway?”, the thing is: the intern forgot to make the deposit to secure the reservation of the track, but for our luck Suzuka was free this weekend.
But let’s go for what interest, the race:

We have a nice battle between the Smooth Gulf, Angtrom, Space Taxi and FSR Project ABL 01! Space Taxi got the best of the fight, tailgated by FSR Project, Smooth Gulf and Angtrom! Next come the Sport Comcept alone, then Cirrus followed closely by The Ugly B-tch. The other fights are between the RP6 and the Licorne Rallye and between the Becker, Vega SS and Expresso AE. The other cars have more than 1s of distance between them.

Green Hell

Green Hell, the time attack heaven! This time we had some changes, Smooth Gulf took the lead, fighting with FSR Project and Space Taxi for it, while the Smooth is like a god of the corners apex, the last two give him a hard time at the braking points and at the leaving of the corners, and FSR Peoject and Space Taxi finish side-by-side. Angtrom fall behind being overtook by DFM Sport Comcept at the corners. Next fight is for the 8th place, between the RP6, Cheesewedge and Licorne Rallye, the Cheesewedge go away at the straights, but can’t keep up with the RP6 and the Licorne at the corners, it’s a real mess of passing and position changing. The Vega SS, the Molniya and the Becker R fight for the 11th position and the huge amount of torque show that it weight doesn’t matter so much over 100km/h.

Spa-Francorchamps

Now we’re in Spa-francorchamps, the home of the iconic Eau Rouge! This time we had some considering time between almost every car, so the number of cars in fights is low. The fights are between Space Taxi, FSR Project and Smooth Gulf, Angtrom couldn’t keep up with the leaders again, Cirrus GT and The Ugly B-tch are head to head, finishing with 0.2s between them and Becker R is followed closely by the Vega SS. With the exception of Cirrus GT and The Ugly B-tch changing positions, the finishing grid is the same as the one from Suzuka.

…I’d say mid-pack is enough to safely say that our engineers have made the fastest car made of cheese in the world.

I probably should have given my car a name other than ‘Project’ :joy:

But there’s a really nice top 3 battle going on

Looks like my design is continuing the great Bogliq tradition of doing badly. :expressionless:

No matter how much I learn, I just can’t seem to thread it all together to make a coherent winner… :disappointed:

Nice, not last in a car that’s not designed to be competetive

2nd powerfull engine + 4th lightest car = 6th Place
Damn you FR concept… but since it was my first multitrack challenge and my second overall challenge i am happy with the result
Also: very well written i enjoyed reading

pretending you could race in this league but realizing that your car is useless against the rest of the field

Thank you @Nomade0013, very well presented and an excellent first round. I genuinely had a lot of fun reading just how uncompetitive my Merna was!

Just to remember that it was just the first part, later today we’ll have what’s left.
I would apreciate some feedback, what could be bettered, what you liked and what you would like to be add.
But I’m glad you aready liked it.

Good work, it’s fun to read.

Most Powerful engine, and the fastest FR-Car , Best i could do, with the fact that I suck at MR setup’s.

Maybe top 4 gets one point less for car/engine last 4 gets one point more mid8 stay… to narrow the field

Right now, the point system is 15pts to 1st, 14pts to 2nd and so on until 1pt to 15th. So if I do that the 5th place would receive 12pts while the 4th only 11pts, that can’t happen. If isn’t that I didn’t get it, so please, explain a little better.

i ment the quality slider… +5 in car/engine would be +4 / +6 for the next car
… so it is easyer harder for them in the next round so the tracktimes come closer to each other

Oh, I see. We’re working on how to make the cars closer, there’ll be some tracks changes and rules changes to let the creativity more freely and the changing positions more frequently.

RESULTS 1971

Monaco

So now we start the second part of the championship! And we start with one the most dificult races of the calendar, Monaco, know for being hard on brakes and gearbox and for giving the most balanced car the best result, the packed track give room for a lot of duels. So this time we still have the four leaders trying to fight for the lead, but the fight is more towards the second position, between Smooth Gulf, Angtrom and FSR Project, Space Taxi with his balanced car can get a little (very little) distance from the other three. The Sport Comcept and the Cirrus GT left sparks while touching it other at the tight corners. Cheesewedge disappears from Ugly B-tch sight at the straights, but is overtaken again at the next corner. RP6 GTL is followed closely by the Licorne Rallye. The gentleman Expresso AE can have some space from Skinny Pig, but only because the last one is trying to get away of the mad dwarf know as Vega SS. And we have the Merna Touring making a nice tour at Mont Carlo, the driver even took some pics.

Laguna Seca

Finally we’re at my personal favorite track (just because I’m a Mazda fan). Let’s see what we have this time:
FRS Project and Space Taxi are battling harder than ever!!! With very similar cars they touch each other, have braking contests and force one another for the outside of the track! These two are gone crazy! Smooth Gulf, Angtrom RRR and Sport Comcept are just behind on their own fight, but without finding any room to get to the first two. This time the mad dwarf Vega SS aim for Becker R, who tries desperately to run away, but at every time they go past 80 km/h the Vega become more controllable and suddenly jumps toward him in a ferocious (and cute) attack!

Interlagos

And that is the last race of the season, here in Interlagos. After the race we’ll have some good fun, with good music and a nice buffet. But before that let’s race!
Again we have Space Taxi at the lead, but this time it isn’t a big part at the fight, this one occurs with the next three: Angtrom RRR, FSR Project and Smooth Gulf. They go side-by-side from corner to corner, overtaking and being overtaken, from nice late apex to enthusiastic drifts! The sparks go out with all around the track! Other then that, Cirrus GT is followed closely by Cheesewedge and the Molniya by the Expresso AE.

Well that’s not so bad for 20min prototype  not so much a beginners league tho… Even though I’m not winning I’m planning to take same balast as 1st so challenge gets tougher

Results updated!

We didn’t expected so many entries at the very first round, so we had some management problems (myself the most), but I would like to thank you all for making this fun round and for the patience. Hope this is the first of many!

And I’m just about to sleep, so the rules for the next round will be announced tomorrow, together with some additional reminders and clarfications

That was a very close season indeed! I thought about entering but chose not to due to my poor results in the ATC that preceded it. And congratulations to @Xoury for winning the first round of the ABL!
