Automation Beginners League - season 82/83 drawing to an end!

Same here, I have a crap ton of work and I’m spent after inventing a bunch of lore, and entering both the TA95 and CSR… round 2 awaits us!

Yeah that’s my beef too. If this is about street legal cars the rules should represent that…or if it is a racing class the rules should reflect that.
I am working with the Competition Owners to make the rules more…sensible
Basically my view is that the two new comps that have been created (ABL and the AL)
need to communicate with each other on the rules as basically my AL is about building complete cars that are street legal from the factory with much harder minimum specs to reach and larger budgets, where as the ABL is about production cars that are build by people in their sheds purely for the race tracks on the cheap ie stripped interiors, wheel flares, minor aero, open exhausts, slick tyres etc.

The rules for minimum amount of fixtures should read that all vehicles must have handles, vents, headlights, taillights, exhaust, and side indicators present with no engine clipping thru the body unless it is an inter-cooler [front bumper exposed only] or a carb v8 with the air filter exposed.

Just remember all that the ABL is a new challenge and it may take 2 or 3 runs to get a great ruleset that can be replicated for each round, but it will happen there are people behind the scenes that really care about hosting a great challenge series

Good point. As Darkshine5 has already pointed out we’re in the process of finetuning the ruleset of the ABL. Here’s what we plan to have it be.

so in round 2 the ABL will be revamped to accommodate for the pro league, the ruleset will be much shorter, be more balanced and make more sense. There’s a lot of talk already between me, Nomade0013 and Darkshine5 and your feedback is really helpful to us.

How the ABL will interact with the Pro League is something that still needs to be figured out. For example, I can already point out that in the Pro league the winner makes the rules for the next round whereas here for the sake of ease the racemaster makes the rules and we will hold a short “referendum”.

why not make 2 ‘classes’?

players that just joined for a couple of months have shorter rule list.

players that have been here for >1 years have a much longer one.

that said. when is the deadline?

The big thing is not limiting people to just one event.
As the ABL is also going to aim for a new rnd every 2ish weeks and the APL will run on a monthly time table.
The more feedback we can get the better the comps will be so expect changes after these first rnds.
The ruleset will evolve into what works and what does not. We are lucky (or not) that we have the old HLC and DRC to pillick from.
I am firm in my opionion that in this challenge race intake/exhaust should be allowed with one baffled muffler depending on the round and the APL will be performance intake/exhaust only.
The same goes for interior and tyres.
deadline 4/12/16 12:59 cet

Time vill tell…Sooner or later time vill tell

If you’re going to allow race intakes and exhausts, why then restrict it with a muffler?

Ahhh you see because IRL there is a limit on sound that can exit the raceway at any stage. So by using a standardised exeptable exhuast we may be able to find a middle ground that somewhat pleases everybody whist at the same time not limiting creativity.
I am only throwing ideas out there. Feedback is always needed

Good point, but was that true in the 1970’s?

If we all get to derestrict our cars by removing mufflers we all get the bonus, so we’re all still even, so why does it matter so much

is 8:30 slow??

edit: on green hell OFC

For the airfield test track, yeah just a bit.

EDIT: OK, well I’ll say that my car can do it more than 15 seconds quicker…
EDIT 2: And looking back at the thread, I’m not alone

The tracks are run from a standing start, right? So a fast-off-the-line gearing is required?

That’s right, all of the track times are from a standing start.

I forgot to submit the dinky little car I have

Send it to me and I’ll see how far Nomade is, if it’ll work for him to take it, then great, if not, sorry. Please do try to submit by deadline

I’ve been worrying a bit about finals and whatnot

“There’s rumors that team FSR has gone through two engines during testing at the Nürburgring.
Is it due to design problems or are they pushing that hard for laptimes?”

I can tell you that the DFM tested 4 Bodies and 3 Engines the winner Engine was a V12 48V with OHC and about 331kw or about 450hp. with 4500ccm

that moment when you notice an undersquare v12 actually fits that body :joy:

Well, I have a bit less with my V8 (that falls apart when you look at it so be careful!)

Are you pushing the 8-minute mark on GH then? Very close to I’d guess.
