About time someone used the coupe Body… that engine is tuned for not to drink too much?
It guzzles gasoline like a camel at an oasis. 
I actually built TWO cars. But wanting to keep it period correct, the Bel Air just didn’t cut the mustard with the 265.
I decided to go balls to the wall, with the plan of blasting through the circuit, while avoiding stopping too much for fuel so I went with a dinky v8
Originally I had it tuned for 1hp:1ci, but the car was too light so it is lower than that now. Same engine in the Bel Air was only coming in at about 0.15hp/kg, so that didn’t work at all, and I simply could not figure out a way to get it closer to the 0.20hp/kg mark.
as the tires must have 175/85 aspect, you cant pull much g’s from heavy cars, and it cant handle much power either, so the secret is to have a light and almost 5o/5o car to maximize grip at the back and braking, as you obliged to use underpowered brakes
could have done a lighter car and corner better, but it would have low power and very bad top speed

i know you fancy pushrod v8s, but try a 2,5L inline six dohc and see ;D you can keep the 2 4 barrels carbs!
you will see better balance, better reliability, higher revs and better economy
i’m actually using a 1,5L V8 here!
a V6 would be even better for this
pushrods are good for street cars but not for all out racing even with slider abuse… and my street cars have ohv v8s the big and fancy ones of course no official 6 cyl though often too long to fit

If you know anything about her, you know that you’ve just wasted your breath. She doesn’t do anything that’s not true to specs and engineering of American cars of the day. She does so knowing she’s not competitive. For the 1945 BRC season, while she’s managed to qualify for events, she’s been at the back of the pack. She just likes doing it that way, and frankly there are a number of us who appreciate that she sticks to her guns, along with the handful of other people on this board who are like that.

My first try in a competition like this, so I don’t know what to expect against the other cars.
In fact, this is my 2nd car for this competition. First I build another car but that was too heavy for the power/weight ratio.
So I deleted that car and build this new car. Because it is much lighter, the engine was now overpowered for the power/weight ratio. The positive side of that is that I had to downtune the engine, with better fuel consumption en realibility as result.
I Present you the VPNL - Mulsanne, driven by a 1.9 liter 4 cilinder engine.

I actually did make a Blue Flame engine initially. It wasn’t as fantastic as you propose, however. It also wouldn’t fit in the small body…only in the Bel Air. Like VicVictory said, I like American engines (although I do have a soft spot for German engines too). It’s all about having a good time. Winning is just a nice extra (not that I would know).
I just checked the position of the firewall on the Ferrari/Aston and it seems a tad bit too far forward compared to lots of others cars, so tweaking that might help when it comes to using slightly longer I6s.
Although I don’t think Der Bayer would approve cars that are modded like this.

Hmmmmm downloaded the 60’s mini roadster and definitely seeing better times… but I kinda wanna go with the stock coupe because its cool
