BRC 1955 - The Golden Age [Qualifying R5]

@GenJeFT

The Healey is unlockable in 55.

IRL production started in 58, but there were a few other somewhat similar british roadsters made earlier during the 50s.

Fair enough, I think I will take a look at it.

Iā€™m torn about the roadster.

Its faster then the vanilla light car on the straights (by nearly 20 MPH) and it accelerates faster in every way BUT that does not actually translate into better times.

It has the same terrible brakes as the 1945 car.

As a result of the absolutely terrible breaks because of the size of rims required for the 175mm tires it losses LOADS of time on corners despite being 200kg lighter then the vanilla car.

So I am a bit torn, I have two cars that are ultimately nearly identical performance, one does a LOT better in straits, the heavier one oddly does a LOT better on corners (all in the brakes). The small one does get like 38mpg while the heavier one does get only about 26.6mpg.

Maybe I can put both cars into the practice and compare?

Only one car per player, please.

An other solution, as I imagine Der Bayer will do multiple training sessions, is to enter the first car you want to test, wait for the results, then enter the second one, and compare the results.

To clarify, we are allowed to use safety with negative quality to artificially lower the carā€™s weight? Think I may need to find 2 pounds to loseā€¦

Iā€™m not sure whether this will go any better than 1945, where I just went for lightness and didnā€™t really fix anything else. This time, with an improved suspension tune, weā€™ll see if this power barge can match the little guys in the corners!

Large coupe body represent! fistbump with Kristina (now with over 200hp, muahahahaha)

I asked this same question in the previous BRC. It was frowned upon then, and I was told that the calculations may be ironed out, but as yet they have not changed.

AFAIK the majority of us wouldnā€™t be doing it (and Iā€™m not, myself), but if itā€™s just 2 pounds, I donā€™t personally see a problem with it, as it still costs extra anyway. I would obviously defer to Der Bayer for a decision on this though!

You may use safety quality as you like because you donā€™t gain anything compared to someone who is sitting at the power to weight limit.

(aaaaaaaaaaaaand five minutes with the not-Healey and the coupe gets annihilated on the track. I wonder which I should use in the endā€¦)

So close to sub 2:40 on Automation Test Trackā€¦ come on suspension tune, work with me!
As much as I want to use the coupe body, there is no contest with the custom roadster, solid 8 seconds faster with just a basic tune over my highly tuned land barge ā€œcoupeā€.

With slicks I imagine?

IIRC Der Bayer is slightly tuning tire wear, so there is more wear at first and then it tapers off slowly to a minimum of .5 grip (or something like that)

I seriously think I will run sports this time, especially since it ends up only 1 second slower compared to slicks.

Thatā€™s exactly it!

And like trackpad Iā€™ve decided Iā€™ll run sports, though, with the slicks, like Bob, one finds oneself tantalisingly close to a sub 2:40ā€¦

Just a little teaser of my race car :stuck_out_tongue:
Wait for it change, its a gif.

I think that I made a stupid move by choosing a body that so far nobody used in this contest. It took me an hour to set everything up, I have like 0,199 hp/kg and 2:43.500 on the Automation track. That makes me want to quit already :frowning:

That is faster than mine so dont worry

ā€¦ermā€¦Blasterā€¦I thimk my game is fooling me, cause somehow now I just canā€™t repeat that time

Ouch, wonder if it was a glitch? I find it amazing though how one little click can save or add 5 seconds to a timeā€¦

Suspension thing I imagine?

Is it possible that in one case you have oversteer issues, but not in the other? Because that would explain it.

Oversteery cars tend to get mediocre times.

Also, about those sub 2:40 times, they are definitively possible on slicks. And maybe even on sports with some tweaking.

ā€œSomeā€ tweaking.

Some.

Meh, Ardentā€™s going to withdraw from the BRC. I thought sub 2:47 was going to suffice. I donā€™t have the knowledge (much less the time) to find a way to tweak that down anywhere close. Clearly I have learned nothing about performance builds from repeated competition running, so why waste the space? I might qualify, but not do anything more than that. Might as well let my spot go to someone who still gives a crap.

Sub 2:40  Holy christ! I am sitting here with a solid 2:45
