I think that this will be a great season =)
The updated LHE Orbital was not entered in time for this pre-season test.
Still mostly a non contender, but thanks to an engineering exchange with Baltazar, after providing specifications for a race car chassis that LHE could not afford to build, Baltazar provided LHE with a race engine that they had no car to stick it in.
Thanks a lot for positive and constructive feedback. Here are the major points which need answers:
Yes.
Just noticed that cars that didnāt meet the threshold of damage never got fixed. I donāt want my car running with 55 damage the whole race, I only made sure an extra pit stop wasnāt going to be needed. Like in f1 when there is minimal front wing damage, the car isnāt pitted immediately, but they still get it changed on the next stop. Is there a way to amend this?
Small damage should still be fixed during regular stops. Maybe not completely, but they should work on the car until tyres are changed and refuelling is finished. Where and when and for whom did that not work? I think this is working.
There are many questions for me now.
Biggest WTF is:
my car used 41,8kg of fuel in total in the race. Iāve setup a pitstop strategy of 1 Stop at 50%. Yet it starts with fuc***** 40kg of fuel???
Calm down. Your stop was set up at around 60%. Average fuel consumption was 1.48 kg/lap in the dry. With a lap time of 2:27 it is expected to go 37 laps (plus 2 lap safety margin equals 39 laps) ā whole race estimation 65,5 lg with 2kg + 10% safety margin. ā 60% of that ā around 40 kg. Thatās your start fuel. What the hell can I do that there is a big storm during the whole race and the car does not need as much fuel?
No, thatās not how it is supposed to work.
The way it is supposed to work is:
(ā¦plus a two-lap margin of safety, I believe.)
Thatās why I think thereās a bug in the program that reduces fuel use in the rain.
It is not a bug. You cannot step on the gas in the wet as hard as in dry conditions. Fuel consumption comes directly from throttle position. Plus of course speeds are lower in general, so it is possible that cars are not running at very high revs as long as in the dry.
Well that is complete bullshit then!
Mind your language and tone please. Der Bayer has put in countless work and effort for this fun challenge. Show some respect please.
Whereās the problem?
If that quote tom TheBobWiley would be true, it would be total Bullshit! Since it would render lightweight builds completely obsolete.
DerBayer clarified that itās due to Rain and less fuel consumption, so itās not Bullshit.
I just want to know, does overtaking or blocking actually happen, or do the cars run in āghost modeā, where being held up by traffic isnāt a thing?
Overtaking and blocking does happen for cars in the same lap.
Thanks! I suddenly realized the importance of having a fast car for the qualifying
Quick question: Will there be trump cards this time?
Yes! And more beautiful!
Well, I better pretty-up my car too, then!
whatās a trump card?
Working on cosmetic changes then
Yes! And more beautiful!
Nice, so we get very fancy cards now Arenāt 62 a ton of work?
Will be awesome for the stream.
Talking about the Stream:
We need volunteers for commenting (as usual) - anyone who has time this or next weekend, on the usual times (between 19.00 and 21.00 CET/UTC+1) of course, can write me a PM or hand out a message on skype.
Trump card generator is the key! All I have to do is make the car screenshots -> 1h of work
Ok, Iāve spent almost 4 hours working on the car, just sent it, cause the more I work on it the more doubt I get about knowing what Im doing. Good luck everybody.
HOLY CRAP!
Qualified 48th but finished 9th? HELL YEAH!!!
I will definitely be using this prototype in the actual season. Now I need to find a little more time in the dry and rethink my pit strategy. If Iāve read the thread correctly, there will be more consumption in the dry because there will be quicker lap times. I had a fair amount of KG of fuel left over at the end of the race, but I had 0 planned stops, so Iām pretty sure I took no fuel on. I donāt think I can get away with that in dry conditions. Also the intermediate tires make a huge difference in lap times, although the way the weather went really helped my wet only strategy (except for qualifying, it killed me there) and it seems that plenty of folks got hurt by the dip to 30% humidity range before it poured again. Decisions Decisions.
I actually obsessed with consumption today. Had a serious engine re-tune
@KLinardo: Pro-tip: an emergency stop because youāre running out of fuel counts as an unscheduled stop for replacing regular stop purposes. what I did was schedule a late pit stop with a wide replace-regular-stop window, so if I have excess fuel consumption I just pit earlier.
Is having more drive than sport worth it when it means sacrificing outright speed?
