BRC - Out of the Steam - 1945 [Final Race Results]

Wow! 29th isn’t horrible. It also isn’t good. haha

That’s some spread in times for sure. 6:01 all the way up to 7:22?

I will need a guardian angel to push my car in order to climb in the ranks, however. C’mon guardian angel! :unamused:

I may have said this before, or I may not have, but one thing is clear: regardless of how little time I put into it, my car is quite simply the worst car I have ever submitted to any kind of Automation race. It’s so bad that I can’t even derive much useful information from its performance in races except to say that economy is useless if you can’t go, turn or stop

I think my car has the tallest 2nd gear around… I think I saw 150-160kph and it was still in second…OMG, I built the little Nash Rambler!!

Quick question, because I forget if it has been answered: what units are used for fuel in BROBOT? It occurred to me in another thread that BROBOT results could be used to estimate how race fuel consumption should be calculated for other competitions, but while I’m guessing that the units are kilograms (kg), I don’t know for sure.

Yes, the fuel unit is kg. It would be no problem to convert it to liters, but kg is more common in racing.

Sweet.

(It’s interesting looking at how fuel consumption varies by track - my car burned almost 15% more fuel per minute on the Green Hell than the Automation Test Track.)

(Edit: I don’t know why I say “almost 15%” - I’m literally going off of pausing the video when my car finishes the training stint and noting the minutes and seconds, so I’m probably not actually that precise.)

As usual the stream will be available over at
twitch.tv/pyrlix

Don’t miss the race! It starts when this post is around 2h old!

Wouldn’t normally be able to make a Sunday race, but I’m home sick! Silver lining!

Any damage from accidents will be the end of the race for people. Don’t hit anything.

So many mechanical failures.

I think i’ll shoot for 40 reliability for 1955.

A complete surprise result for Packbat Auto Works in the Green Hell race - apparently, our driver learned a great deal during training that they were able to put into play in the second stint. Very happy with the result.

Right. So my car that is 10% more reliable then required broke down and didn’t score any points. Meanwhile cars with less than required reliability, I’m looking at you Absurdist, just sailed by. That is weird, but somewhat acceptable, due to the randomness of the calculations and whatever.

However, why did my car start from the back on the 2nd race? It was, technically, 3rd to last, thus it should have started on 3rd place for the 2nd race.

Reversed start order from the qualifying?

Not required, recommended. Your chances of breaking down are low because you have more reliability than recommended. There is always a chance of breaking down, even with 100% reliability.

The order of the finishing cars is reversed. DNFs are not put at the front. Just imagine a broken down Absurdist in first race starting from the front in second race with his opponents at the back. Very interesting

Whoo 1st on the second stint!!!

Had a lot of issues with connectivity from the commentating point of view, also had to install new drivers for headphones DURING the stream, so you might notice a change in voice between the intro and the race :stuck_out_tongue:

Hopefully the connectivity issues will be solved next race

Well, it might not be interesting from a race perspective, but it would be fair. Considering that the front runners had their cars explode when they were running in 2nd, 3rd and 4th, they lost all the points they were going to score. And then they were put at the back of the field for the second race, so they didn’t have a chance to recover and win at least some of the points they were going to.

Martin, could you check if you had the effect of the driver errors commented out for the GH race? The notices were showing, but I didn’t spot them having any effect whatsoever?
